I really understood the message of the video. I didn't particularly enjoy neither did I agree with all of it. However, I certainly think some of the points are very useful. The first point I found to useful is building a foundation. We all must certainly have something to build from when going through career development. The point that I found most helpful was having expertise about the industry your working in. Having expertise in you industry is what can set you apart from the rest of the beginners.

This video was very inspirational. Once one finds their passion and nurture it through their career you can eventually choose where and what you do. When you find what you truly desire doing you can be happy with what you do and it no longer becomes a job, but a way to express yourself. All of which betters your career, life, and employer.

The first step to developing your career is to know where you want to go. By knowing where you want to go in the long run, you can remain focused and stay on the path to success in your company or business. If you can be focused on achieving your goal, you can become dedicated to your company. If you can be a team player and show that you want what is best for the company and not for yourself, then you will prove to the company that you deserve a promotion.

Expertise is very important to create a career but what if you don't know what you can choose as an expertise? Finding a passion can be sometimes more difficult. I believe that being around other people can greatly find out who you are. How you handle situations can reflect a path you should go down. For people who are older and have an expertise, sometimes there might be an opportunity to express a different angle within that expertise.

To develop your career, build a foundation of expertise by gaining knowledge of your function, communicate and build a network of supporters. Prove the work you do matters and be courageous and put yourself out there. Connect to a community that teaches, inspires and supports you.

Skills are necessary but they are not all you need to be successful. You need expertise, meaning and courage. Having purpose gives you drive to keep going. Having courage helps you to put yourself out there and be okay with failure and success.

He discusses the ways in which we can develop our careers. The first is to become an expertise of your line of work. The second point he made is to prove why your work matters. His third point is to be courageous. He then emphasizes the importance of connecting with your community.

People will increasingly seek out opportunities as they gain more knowledge in their field of expertise. With their increased expertise, should provide work which stands out and has a strong meaning that people can relate to. Individuals should also go out and engage with others by explaining what they do while also taking in things from others. Finally, as person in business should encourage the growth of others and make them feel as though their work matters to you as much as your own work.

Back then I feel that people picked a career and stuck with it until retirement. But now, you are not only able to advance and move up in a company but you are also able to move around and maybe switch companies. Expertise, meaning and courage are important factors to have to becoming successful. You should have the will power and courage to go forward in life and become what you want to be.

The art of career development is learning and mastering you skills to further your career and move on to bigger and better things. Most people are constantly striving to be better. We do this by mastering a skill and than adding something more challenging and mastering that and so on and so on. This is a cycle that never ends until a person feels satisfied with how far they got and they stop (aka retire). This is how you develop your career and get ahead in your company.

This is a great video for graduating seniors. The hardest part is finding a company that you actually want to stay at. By all means, once you do you'd definitely want them to understand how much value you bring to the company.
