Comparing managing a small business to a small household is a great observation. You're in charge of making sure everyone gets their own responsibilities done. You must make the household or the workforce tell their ideas. Listening to advisors, employees, and customers is key. I think this video is great for how to run a business without micro managing.

Leading from the middle is a good piece of advice. This way, a manger can see all aspects of the company and know what is truly going on. Listening to customers and employees is the 'key to the kingdom'. Putting yourself as a manger in the middle of things enables you to be on the same page and hear concerns. Customers and employees are what make a business successful, so paying attention to them and doing what you can to help will be beneficial in the long run.

Small businesses can have great success if they have the support like a family household. Employees need to feel their voices are heard. A small business is not lead from the back but the middle engaging with customers and staff.

Listen to your advisors, listen to your employees, and listen to your customers. This is very important when running a business. You hire on advisors because they are professionals and know what they are doing, so it's not necessary to be behind the scenes where they are managing them on something they know more about than you. Where you should be is "in the middle". Be side by side with your other staff in front. Make sure they are doing their jobs correctly, listen to their opinions on products, while also being right by the customers to hear what they have to say.

I really liked this video! In order to run a successful business, an owner cannot just stand in the background and direct his or her employees. He or she has to be out there, interacting with the customers and watching over the employees. It is important to gather information from not only your customers but your employees as well. Like the owner stated in the video, everyone involved in your business is like family and it’s important to make them happy and satisfied.

This guy is very accurate and understanding of what it means to be an effective manager and business owner. Often, we get this mentality that if we are the owners or high up executives, we don't have to carry the load, follow the rules, or do anything to help further the everyday business. In reality, this is very false! When you have a manager who interacts with you every day, knows his or her customers and employees, and promotes a sense of trust and openness throughout the business, you have found a jewel. This guy understands that he must engage with his employees, but also give them the empowerment to help their customers leave with a memorable experience. This is definitely the kind of manager that you want to work for, because he is someone who is interested in you as a member, and not just another paycheck.

I like the management style talked about in this video. I think that companies do better whenever the employees feel like a family. The employees are like the children where as the managers or owners are the parents of the company. The family is close and the children are not afraid to approach the parents with a problem or concern. I agree that this make the work environment more casual and relaxed but also allows things to get accomplished.

I agree with this completely. Everyone needs to be on board to make a company succesful. Especially, the sales associates in the retail environment. And if they are not happy then your customers will not be happy.

This video is about empowering employees in a small business. It is important to make employees feel as if they are a part of the family so they identify with the business and will be fully vested in it. This video shows the ideal small family run business environment. The owner is on the floor daily leading his team by example. Especially in family businesses, the owners must lead from the middle and be out there or else employees give poor service.

I enjoyed this video, and perfectly agree with the point he made that by taking care of the employees and customers making sure they are happy. By doing this everyone feels important and part of the business aspect. He also makes the point that you must listen to their concerns and embrace their opinions on the products that are being sold.

I think his theory of treating your small business like a big family is a good one. In a family, everyone in the family is a part of something. When your employees feel like they are a part of the business decisions, they will have a better work ethic and be more productive.

This is why companies like Google are top in their field. Their employees feel like part of a family and feel valued. That is why they work so hard for their company. Even though Google is a huge business they still treat employees like family.
