I believe every manager should watch this video because it is a great example of how managers should treat their employees. I think every manager should treat their employees as they do their family. I think it is important for employees to be present and let the employees know they are always there for work or personal problems. I also think it is important for managers to include employees and let their inputs be heard. After all the employees are the ones who directly face your customers day to day.

Being a front end owner/manager can help that person understand the business as a whole. Managers who manage from the back room can be at a disadvantage. Being in the front allows you to interact with both the employees and the customers. When you interact with these people you get a feel of what is working and what needs to be changed and you can act accordingly.

managing a small business is like managing a family. You cannot manage a store from the back of the store, you must look to start in the middle. You must make sure that everyone takes care of their responsibilities, and give the people the right amount of tools and power to do the job that needs to get done. Listening to your employs and customers is key for success, and if the family supports you, you are going to have a great business.

The speaker in the video had very valid points. You should up front and center when it comes to your customers. You need to interact with them and get their opinion. Also, get the opinion of your employees. Employees may see a lot that you may not see and they can share their viewpoints and ideas with you to help with your business. A small business is like a big family like he stated. You should make your employees feel comfortable enough to share their ideas!

Great points on how a small business is like a big family. I think there are definitely similarities to how a small business is just like that. If there is not an open line of communication with the employees and the employer then there won't be much growth within the company.

I agree. All levels if management should be engaged with one another. Companies often fell to realize whats important for each level. Working together can help eliminate those problems.

Managing a business is a hard task. Being in the front of the store and making sure the customer is receiving the best service possible is the main task of any manager. Customers are what keeps companies profitable. Treating a small business like a family is a huge saying. Looking at each aspect of the business as a family will keep you alert and aware of all that is going on and help you to realize that family always needs each other to continue on.

This video is absolutely correct. Small businesses are really like large families, and managing a large family is never easy. I agree that leaders should be present in their business and interact with employees and customers. By listening to your employees and customers, you will experience great success. Leaders cannot be expected to know everything, but with the support of their 'family' they can be successful. Businesses are not meant to be run from the back of the house.

I love how he describes managing a small business, he says it is like managing a big family. It is important for managers not to get so rigid and caught up with their own agenda that they ignore the big family they have working for them. Listening to your employees give them a sense of importance in the business and they will support your more when your need it. Treating your small business as a family encourages teamwork and better results for your business.

Everyone needs shoes. Obviously this man has figured that out and made a business of it. His ideas are good concepts to run a small business. Yes some people work from the back of the store. But the people that will be selling the business are working from the middle. Primarily because they have the most interaction with the customers.
