This video is very applicable to managing in today's world. Today, managers have to be able to make split-second decisions during the work day. These decisions must be made with confidence and clarity, often under turbulent conditions. The biker in the video is faced with similar physical decisions.

Loved this one! It is such a good comparison to how the workplace and being in school. There are so many distractions and so many things that can tear you away that its important to stay focused on the task at hand. She talked about being flexible. If there is something that needs to be done, as messenger, you cannot just quit when the work day is over; you have to get every package delivered on time or else you get fired.

Wow. Making choices under pressure like that is awesome. I know that this is a trait that I have to work on myself. I want to be able to make a split decision in the middle of a high pressure situations that will be the right choice!

Bike messengers must find out how to manage their time. I believe this would be a good job for everyone. Staying calm would be the hardest thing and making decisions while trying to navigate streets on a bike would be rather difficult. Being a bike messenger can teach you how to manage. Not just manager yourself, but also manage those that work around you.

I never realized that being a bike messenger could be so dangerous. I like the message of the video though and how she takes her experiences and applies them across her life. Keeping calm in chaos is a great quality for anyone to have, and one that I think I manage well. I have never been a bike messenger, but I think everyone is familiar with different stressful situations. It is how you manage these situations that makes you a great employee. No one wants to hire someone who will freak out and jump ship in the midst of chaos. You have to be able to work under intense pressure and manage your time in these situations and be flexible to the changes that are necessary in these situations.

This is an interesting perspective on making decisions under chaos and pressure. Hearing decision making from someone making split second decisions under chaos on a bike in the middle of NYC traffic makes you keep things in perspective. It is definitely applicable to the workplace as well though, remaining calm and focusing on the priorities is important in making decisions. Many times, the person who works well under pressure will separate themselves from the competition and be noticed by management.

With a job like a bike messenger, she got a good idea of what it is like to be in a chaotic, hectic workplace. Being flexible and remaining calm helps get people through all sorts of stress, those on the streets on New York and those in a corporate setting.

I liked this video. Staying calm in chaos is a must have skill for any work environment. Especially as a bike messenger. As in the business world decisions are made in split seconds and the ability to think on past experience and use that for future judgement is very important.
