First of all, who uses bike messengers? Like is that what they use to send packages from Broadway to Wall Street within a day rather than FedEx? Seems like an very odd job but anyway, she had some great points. Her outlook on how to maintain a calm mental environment. Seems like her job wasn't exactly hectic, but more so trying make sure you don't get hit by a car. Great job if your interested in staying in shape and great points, the lady and the job just seemed odd to me.

I like this video because it really addresses the fact that all chaotic situations can be handled in the same way in almost any context. For a bike messenger, not managing chaos effectively could mean injury or your life. In an office setting, not effectively managing chaos could be your job and your livelihood. Very real consequences in either context. Everyone at some point has to gain the proper perspective of all the objectives needing to be achieved, then focus in on the tactics to get there. At the end of the day, a job well done is a job that's done. Managing time to meet expected deadlines is crucial to everyone. Being adaptive in any environment is certainly key. Survival of the fittest is real in the biological world and the business world.

Remaining calm is very important when you are trying to make a decision regardless of what type of situation it is. When people become frantic, they often just choose the first option that comes into their head. Often times, this option is not thought out at all and is not the best choice. It is extremely easy to let our environment overwhelm us but we can't fall victim to that. We are in control of our thoughts and feelings.

Like the bike messenger, most people have similar lifestyles or work lives like her. However, you really should stay focused, manage your time, and be flexible. In the military, when you reach a certain, you have a lot more responsibility. More responsibility means, caring for soldiers and monitoring them, designating the workload, and creating products for senior ranking officials by short deadlines. It is easy to lose track of time and focus with so many things going on. Like stated in the video, those 3 key actions can make a huge difference between success and failure.

This job is definitely dangerous especially in new york. Chaos happens in all jobs most i don't think are life and death but in her job it is. I know in my job I have times where 10 things are happening at once but I really have to just like her. Mentally you need to take a deep breath be aware of whats going on and then jump into it. I always try to figure out what needs to be done first and then start down the list. Remaining calm and put together is key when you are dealing with the public.

Customers help all businesses grow and that is why it is so important to treat customers with the up-most respect and cater to their needs. When you start your own business, word of mouth will be the most frequent use of publicity for your business. So it all comes down to how treat your customers, because news that is spread organically is the most effective.

wow that would be such a crazy work environment. i think that she brings up a great point that stressing out doesn't help it will only slow you down or even worse, cause you to make a huge mistake. one of the best ways to deal with a huge workload is to stay on top of it and make sure that you dont stress about it.

My takeaways from this video are keeping your cool and manage your time wisely. These are two very important skills to have in any job. I can only imagine the stress that a bike messenger in NYC goes through. These are lessons for me to take note of for future use. I would very much like to work in Human Resources after graduating, and contrary to popular belief, this is definitely a stressful field. You must meet deadlines, comply with laws, train, develop, etc. all with a smile on your face and a warm, inviting nature.

You'd never think how difficult something that seems so simple could be. As a messenger they don't get to do like we do in regard to school or work. If our off time is 5 we usually are guaranteed that daily. However they don't have that luxury. Even UPS or FedEx have the luxury of saying oh well they'll get it tomorrow. I noticed Kym mentioned focusing I think this is truly something important in everything we do and focusing is the only way we can better manage and handle the tasks we have.

I completely agree that staying calm and analyzing your surroundings to focus on your task at hand is the best way to do any job. Knowing what is going on around you and how to assess the situation can be a great characteristic for an employee. I think that we can all use a little more calm in our day.

The work place can be a very stressful place at times and sometimes it easy for people to lose there cool. But I realize that losing your cool at work can cause unwanted stress and tension and I believe that if a person handles a situation calmly and peacefully that people are better to understand the mistake they made and they are willing to be corrected for the mistake or misconduct.

Focus, time management and handle your business. In this clip she identifies the dangers of NYC bike messenger but took that healthy aspect into a business. It's nice to know that she was the riding double for Premium Rush movie. Kind of cool.

I thought this video definitely put a new perspective on staying calm in the workplace. She brought up some good points about staying focused on what's going on all around you and not just what's in front of you as well as managing the time you have. In order to meet deadlines you have to manage your time well and be as productive as you can for accomplishing the things you need to get done in a day.

No matter what your job is, stress can negatively affect your work. This is more serious in the situation of the worker in the video, because it can result in injury or even death if you are not completely focused. It is very difficult to stay calm in many work situations, but it is vital in producing the best possible outcome for your company.
