It is definitely important to try your hardest. The article states that getting positions is not due to connections or wealth, but due to the willingness to outwork and outlearn others. If you show your hard work and determination the rest will follow. Also, there is always something to learn from the outcomes. Even if the outcome is not necessarily what you had expected to begin with there is a lesson that can make you more knowledgeable in the future.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
I agree with Mark Cuban somewhat. First off, I find it hard to believe a billionaire saying it's not about money. Money and connections will get you very far in life. With that said, hard work is also a necessity to be successful in life. If you do not have the money and connections, hard work is the only thing you have to differentiate yourself from your colleagues. You cannot be afraid of failure and not let it be the reason you give up. If you fall down ten times, get up eleven. Use your failures as lessons of what to do differently and eventually you will succeed.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says ‘It’s not about money or connections’
Failure is part of life. Failure happens every single day, but failure should not be the reason we stop. We can't give up just because we didn't succeed the first time. I think the article is a good one being that failure is the number one reason people are scared to try again. Failure is never an easy thing to accept, but it's part of life. Everyone fails at something in their lifetime, but it's the individuals that continue to strive toward their dreams that actually achieve their dreams in the end. I know from experience that it sucks to fail at something you want so bad, but I also know that continuing to try is better than giving up. I also know that once you reach that goal that you failed at, its the most rewarding thing in life.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says ‘It’s not about money or connections’
I enjoyed reading this article from Mark Cuban. He has some valid points in the article and liked how he related a real life example with Michael Jordan. The article can definitely relate to my past experiences when talking about outworking and out learning other individuals. This is a good article to keep with you for your future to remind yourself hard work will and does pay off.

In business, those who work hard and are willing to go above and beyond their coworkers are the ones who are recognized for their hard work and willingness. Someone who works hard and plays a big role in the success of the business will have higher responsibilities and even promotions over others. It is very important to show your employer that you are an asset to the company and worth keeping around.

Mark Cuban is a billionaire and I understand where he is coming from. If you work hard and be the best you can be and also work harder than the rest, you can become the best. You do not have to worry about the money because it will be there with your hard work. It's okay to fail, as long as you don't give up on your dream or whatever it is you want to do. Failure is good because you can learn from the next time. That's why I agree with the billionaire.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
Mark Cuban is a business owner claiming that hard work and hard work alone is all that's needed to be successful in business endeavors. While that's true, and often times will be what puts you ahead, I don't think its fair to discount the importance of having connections. Getting your foot in the door by any means necessary, sure, but for most people they have to be given a chance to show what they're made of. Michael Jordan wouldn't even have been exposed to basketball or the Varsity coach if he would've gone to a school without a basketball team. As an entrepreneur you have to use every advantage you can get your hands on, and THEN work harder than everyone else.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
Mark Cuban highlights what winners, throughout history, have always known. I often wonder, though, if that type of drive is built into a person’s DNA. Some people just never give up. In one of our earlier readings, Michael Bloomberg spoke of working hard. This is a choice of never giving up. Working hard and always moving forward can is the same as overcoming failure. I never like using the word failure because it has negative connotations. Cuban and Bloomberg send the correct message to everyone… that of hard work and doing SOMETHING. These two principles will lead even the least likely in the right direction.

Cuban's article focuses on the philosophy of "outworking and outlearning" everyone. It's very similar to an earlier article that stressed the importance of working more/harder/longer than anyone else if you strive to be a success in the business world. It's so true that you don't have to be the smartest employee to be the most valued one. As a manager, I always valued my employees who were willing to work harder to learn and/or assist others. I saw the most potential in those who were willing to give it their all than those who were more intelligent yet unwilling to perform to their potential. As the author states, Michael Jordan is living proof of the fact that you can go far in life if you're willing to work for it.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections' Although i do agree with some parts of this article that" outworking and outlearning" everyone can give you an advantage over others. I do believe that one need the chance to get into that position then once there you can work and outnumber other. There are also other thing which what you know does not matter what matter is who you know, especially getting a job in the south, i am very honest most employees use this method, you also need to consider that more than 60% of the jobs are not advertise, so how can one learn in this jobs if you cannot even get in? or you don't have networks to get you there? You need to get in in order to demonstrate what you know. I also agree that you can go far if one is willing to fall and get up and learned form the it. We all fall at one point but what makes the difference is the ability to get up and move on and learn from your failure.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says ‘It’s not about money or connections’ This article speaks volumes about hard work. It is important to establish that you are ready to work when you first start on a job. An employer will take notice to that quickly. That's the first thing most of my employers would say about me, that I was hard working. In fact, it was a reason I was hired on all of my other jobs.

I agree with Mark Cuban that accepting and learning from failure separate those who make it to the top from their counterparts. By outworking and outperform others will give you a competitive advantage over others. Separating yourself from others will also give you and advantage. I think that when people rely on who they know to obtain a job, they really don't work as hard because they think that the person they know will let them get away with just about anything.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections' Sometimes you can get a job through hard work and perseverance, but I believe in this economy that we are dealing with today it is all about who you know than what you know initially. With the economic downturns that have been happening all over the world, anything that you can do to get a leg up on someone that is in the same job market as you are will give you an advantage over them. I am taking a human resources class this year and the instructor is always reminding the class that sometimes it is who you know that will get the interview and the job. He encourages us to network and to work the connections that we already have. I think that this is sound advice to get your foot in the door of a company. But I do believe that once you have secured a position in a company that you have to work hard to keep it or you will lose that position.

Mark Cudan says "it's not about money or connections"
As the movie "Meet the Robinsons" states, "Keep moving forward." The same can be said in business. Just because you fail, doesn't mean that's the end of the line. Learn from your mistake so you don't make it again and "keep moving forward." The quote "outlearn and outwork everyone" speaks a lot to me. As my accounting professor, Dean, tells all his classes, "when you stop learning, you stop earning." Whether you are in business for yourself or just a staff member of a company, you should always be willing to learn. You should always be willing to learn new ways to run your business, learn new perspectives on how to view your business, learn new techniques from senior workers, and to simply learn about things you don't already know, just to name a few things. By outworking, or at least show that you'd be willing to work more than normal, will definitely show your employers a good work ethic and good determination.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says “It’s Not About Money or Connections”
In this Business Insider article, I slightly agree with what Mark Cuban is saying. I do agree that in order to be successful, you must have the will to outwork and out learn others. But in a lot of scenarios, who you know and the connections you have can get you a long way; but you should not only rely on your connections. Your connections may be able to get you to a certain position, but your skills and hard work will be the determining factor whether you stay there.
