INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections' This is the first time I have disagreed with one of these articles. The title states that it is not about money or connection but the article basically talked about someone failing and not giving up. The failing at something and not giving up it the part that I agree with but I do not agree with the money and connections part. I know here in the south people get jobs based on their status or who they no in the company. Don't get me wrong because some people do get jobs without connections but most don't. Every job that I have gotten has been because I knew someone or someone I knew, knew someone. That is why it is important to network and get to know people. And if you want to do that you can join a professional site like Linkin, because it has worked for me.

I feel that sometimes our biggest defeats can make us a better person. This article talks about that. It is important to not let a lose of failure in something deter you from trying again and trying harder and better next time. I think that is human to error but it is what we learn from those errors that makes us better. This is true for business as well. It is important to try your hardest at whatever you are doing and not give up. Hard work and dedication always pay off in the end.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
Mark Cuban makes a great point in this article. Having money and connections only gets your foot in the door. The fact of the matter is that everyone in the business world already has money and connections, but they have those things because they worked to create them. Sure if you have money and the VP of the company knows your father, you will probably make it past the interview without a problem. But the question of ‘how far will you take the position?’ is completely up to the person who got themselves there. Just like Michael Jordan, you must work for your success.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
We should never be afraid of failing. While failure is never a goal and never should be our goal, it is from our failures that we can learn how to grow and adjust for the next challenge in life. Many times in my line of work we are looking to make process improvements and some of those changes lead to failures. It is very important to document those failures as well as the learnings from the experience. We do not stop with that failure, but use what we have learned to develop a plan to move forward. It is also very important going into these situations to analyze the potential risks against the potential rewards to help in the decision making process.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says "Its Not About Money Or Connections."
This is a lot of the same stuff that was in a previous link of the day. HArd work is the defining characteristic of a successful person. NOt luck, or even knowledge, but that is important, but hard work. This concept is what America itself was built on. Its truly amazing what people can do with a little hard work. Mark Cuban is a good example. He has more money than some countries, and he seems to be successful in everything he does. ITs not because hes lucky or smarter than everyone else, its because he knows the value of work. Also, failure has never scared him, just as it doesn't scare other successful people. You learn from your mistakes and these mistakes make your next endeavor that much more successful.

I can see the importance of your willingness to outwork and out-learn everyone. It never hurts to give it your all and never be afraid to own your mistakes as it's a learning process. I always like to ask questions usually with scenarios to help me better understand what I'm learning. If I fail at something I always ask myself what I could have done differently.

INSTANT MBA: “Mark Cuban Says It’s Not about Money or Connections.” What this article wants to leave the reader with is the great lesson of failure. Failure is a great teacher and a great motivator. Cuban reminds us that not giving up after failing leads us to the task of perfecting the art. Sometimes failure is inevitable because we can’t start off by being the greatest. When we trust our talent and decide to go after it rather than listen to our disappointment, our success will only taste that much sweeter. Some of the biggest names in history have been associated with failure at one point or another in their lives: Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, and Vincent Van Gogh are just a few that come to mind.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
It's not about how many times you succeed, it's about how many times you fail and still are able to pick yourslef up and try again. The article uses the example of Michael Jordan not making his high school basketball team, but still being able to push himself, and try harder to ultimately become one of the greatest basketball players in history. The same thing is true in business. Not every entrepreneur will get it on the first try. In fact, most of them will not. But it is the hard work and determination that set apart the successes from the failures.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says "It's Not About Money Or Connections'
Although money and connections can get you far, the success doesn't feel as sweet when it isn't backed up by handwork and dedication. The last guy who was promoted to management at my work was one of our most recent hires. He didn't know anyone there but he came in everyday and outworked crew members that had been at our store for years. When it came time for promotions our bosses didn't look to who had been there the longest or who they knew best personally, they sought out someone who would give their all and that is why the new guy secured the job. So I would have to say I agree with this article and believe that hard work really does trump all else.

Michael Jordan is a great example of how hard work and perseverance pay off. A lot of things is Michael Jordan's journey could be related to business. When many people fail at something the first time they tend to throw in the towel. When in fact if they only knew that failure would be the thing that powers their success.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
Taking the bad with the good is what life is all about. Never let failure determine who you will be because maybe the second time around you will do it better. Constructive criticism and failure are what make us grow as individuals. Sometimes we hear things we don't like, but in the end we can likely learn from the mistakes we made. Failure is just a stepping stone in the larger scheme of things because it helps us to learn. I agree with this article. It's like the old saying goes, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Generally some very good life lessons come out of failures of the past.

While working hard and the willingness to learn are great attributes to have, I still think that money and the connections you have are important in the business world. I know many people who really were not that good or hard of a worker and they still were able to land a big job simply because of the connections you have while the people who are working hard face many obstacles to climb the ladder. I’m pretty sure Mark Cuban himself didn’t become a millionaire on his own and had some connections that helped make his way to the top a lot easier but for the people that do not have the best of connections, something positive will always come out of working hard every day even if you fail a couple of times. Like Cuban said , you must learn from your mistakes instead of quitting.

Instant MBA: Mark Cuban Says ‘It’s not about money or connections’
Sure it helps to have connections, especially if in the workforce, but this is an inspirational article of Michael Jordan and focuses more on dedication. It elaborates that If you are truly passionate about something, to keep getting up regardless of the outcome because it will pay off someday. Don’t allow anyone hold you back from your dreams. Dedication and passion are assets people can't ignore. When you are putting in the hard work and striving to be the best at something you can accomplish many things. As the article explains that you may fall or fail but if you are persistent and learn from your mistakes, your goal will eventually become a reality.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections'
This article stresses something that my mom always told me as a kid. "If you don't succeed the first time, try again." She would tell me that it was okay if I didn't succeed the first time, bc now I knew what not to do so that I could do better the second time. I agree that perseverance is the key to any entrepreneur's success. I know what I want and I know that I'm not going to give up until I get it. That's why I know that I will be successful, bc I won't give up even if I do fail.

INSTANT MBA: Mark Cuban Says 'It's Not About Money Or Connections
In the professional world, outworking someone only is effective if you have the education to back you up. Without the degree(s), managers will appreciate your hard work, but will not see you as promotion material. I have been dealing with this at my job for a while now. I started a family early, and am going back to school now to get my B.S. in Accounting. Everyone else in my office has either some graduate level experience, or a Master’s-level degree (either MBA or MPA). With this, I have been overlooked for promotions more than once, simply because of my lack of degree.
