INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People by I like this article because so many times companies give credit to a group of people while some people in the group didn’t deserve it. This person may have done the minimum amount of work while the rest of the group worked longer and harder but in the end he gets the same credit as they do which is unfair. This may not be the case every time, the whole group may work well and hard together but almost every time there’s that one member who goes the extra mile to get the work done or add something to make the group look better. I feel as if these people should be acknowledged, not to make the other group members feel as if they could’ve done better, but to motivate the hardest working member to keep working hard

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People
I think that individual recognition in a large company is very important. I have worked on numerous group projects throughout my college career, where I virtually organized and did most of the work that went into the project. It was frustrating, because even if I expressed this to the teacher, we were still graded as a group, and all received the same scores. After having this happen countless times I was very discouraged and dreaded group work. By never being individually graded or recognized for my advanced efforts, it made me want to slack with the rest of the group.

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People
When people work in a group for you don't forget to acknowledge each person for their contribution. People want to be acknowledged for their effort they put into a project. Personally, I once had to work with a group of people for a few weeks. Each person put in a lot of work but it was worth it. At the end, the person we were working for thanked each one of us individually for what we contributed to the project. When a person thanks you individually it makes you feel good about all the effort you put into the project.

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People What a great article! I think that it is very important to acknowledge individuals even in a group atmosphere. When an individual goes above and beyond, and continuously does this without having recognition, they will quickly give up and not put much more effort into the job. However, when a little bit of praise or a compliment is given, they feel appreciated. I also like how the article talks about recognition in front of others which makes for a good competitive atmosphere between employees!

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People
This is one of the great problems with the whole group thing that is going on in todays business world. So much emphasis is put on the group that the individual gets lost in the mix. The problem with this, more so than anything else, is that the individual is still where all the ideas and achievements come from. The group or team is just the forum, the medium, that the work shines through. So, as the indivudual gets lost in the group, his human side kicks in and asks why should he do all this work if he gets no credit? I've seen this happen, on the positive and the negative. If something great is done, some one person probably had a big part in it, and as such should be recognized. On the same coin, if something bad is done, than the group can not all be equally blamed if there was one person who's mistakes caused the issue.

Alt link 42: INSTANT MBA: When You Think You're Smarter Than Everyone Else, Your Team Will Stop Speaking Up
No one likes a "know-it-all." The reason people won't speak up is because being a "know-it-all" is very off putting. People will see you as someone who doesnt want any other input or help and that you wouldn't value it anyway. Before putting forth your ideas you should get others ideas that way when you counter with your own idea it will lead to a disscussion ultimatly resulting in an alternative that factors in everyones input.

Who doesn't like getting acknowledged? If business owners would realize the value of that, this could replace raises a lot of the time. Sometimes people just want a pat on the back and told that they a a valuable part of the company. Most managers think the only way to make people happy is money.

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People
Receiving positive feedback when someone accomplishes a goal, or goes above and beyond what is expected, is one of the most rewarding feelings at work. Not only does it help that person's self-esteem and make them want to continue to work hard, it also makes others want to work harder to achieve that rewarding feedback as well. Providing this feedback, as a leader, makes you more appreciated by your employees.

INSTANT MBA: Even In A Collaborative Atmosphere, Acknowledge Individual People
I personally hate to have to pick up the slack for someone who is clearly not trying, so I feel that if I go an extra mile to contribute to my group's success I should definitely be acknowledged for it individually.I love the idea of a wrap-up meeting that they describe in the first paragraph of the article.I consider very important for every business to make individual accomplishment recognition part of their everyday activities in order to motivate employees to keep collaborating with their teams. This is one of the great problems with the whole group thing that is going on in todays business world. So much emphasis is put on the group that the individual gets lost in the mix.

This is such a true concept. People will go the extra mile more often when they feel appreciated versus someone who is not recognized for their hard work at all. This concept to me is like working hard and not getting paid for the work you have done. You may do it once because you didn't know that's how things would go, but you definitely would not fall for that again. People want praise when they have done something good and someone going above and beyond should definitely be recognized for their efforts.

I think that the information in this article is vital for the success of a team. Where I work, we have a management team and I think our team could be much more efficient if our boss would recognize the individual more often. One of our shift managers in particular does a lot for the restaurant. He always takes care of things even if they are not necessarily his responsibility. But lately he is beginning to feel like his hard work is not being recognized. I know that our boss sees that he goes out of his way, but he never calls anyone out and says thank you and great job in front of the whole team.

I think it's great that the leaders point out each employees contribution to the project. It's a great way to acknowledge each individual and not have to single any one person out. Acknowledgement can build moral and self confidence in an individual. What a great way to build success within a company.

Acknowledging that your employees have done a great job will make them special. When employees feel special and know that they are a vital part of the company, they will continue to care for the company. Employees want to know that they are appreciated

Employees should be acknowledged for their work. Acknowledging and employee will boost their confidence in themselves and will help them be productive. Also employees like to feel that their work is appreciated and acknowledging their work lets them know that you see the work they put in and that you appreciate their effort.

INSTANT MBA: When You Think You're Smarter Than Everyone Else, Your Team Will Stop Speaking Up
When you have a person who thinks there is nothing left for them to learn, they will not listen when others offer information. This will absolutely shut a team down. This goes back to my example of the manager who talks over everyone. She thinks she knows more than anyone else and refuses to be presented with information from anyone else. Therefore, everyone is very resistent to tell or anything or to talk to her about anything.
