INSTANT MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
Tony Hawk references his being taunted for being a “sellout”, because his gear and merchandise became mainstream. The gist of his taunting was that skaters knew Tony because he was a great skateboarder, but the cult that is skateboarding is not supposed to be in the mainstream. Tony took his expertise in skateboarding and made a business from it, and it sold like hotcakes. The “cult” took that as him selling out to pop culture, but it was just smart business sense. I think that he has a brilliant idea here, that if you believe in something, “sell out” to what you believe in, and people will respect you in the end for it. A bonus to selling out to your beliefs is that it is much easier to not become complacent, allowing for a more profitable, more enjoyable business venture.

INSTANT MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
I do not understand when people call others sell-outs. The people whom are being called sell-outs are always bettering their life and people get jelious of their success. Calling Tony Hawk a sell-out is insane. Tony took the skateboarding sport to an entire ellivated level. Without Tony Hawk skateboarding would have never been as mainstream as it is today. He took skateboarding and made it a dirt degenerated sport to a glorified sport worth winning medals. So i can not understand the sell-out term at all.

Selling out is all of about successful companies. When your company takes a huge surprisingly lead over the competitors, they may try to harm your company. Becoming successful fast can have some consequences, as your competitors become jealous.

INSTANT MBA: Make Your Employees Passionate For Their Company
I think having paasionate employees is one of the best business strategies to focus on. The employees drive the business and help maintain it. Whether they are office employees or field employees, they are the face of the business. Having employees who are not passionate about the business they work for will do nothing by bring the business down. I think having passionate employees is key to success.

Being a sellout has happened to me when i adopted a new tool for my training courses. My SIRT laser training pistols are not dangerous, have no live fire element, and drastically reduce training costs. As such, this has make me a target for other instructors who believe I have lessened the value of their expensive instruction. Peer opinions are important, but not as important as finding a sustainable competitive advantage.

INSTANT MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
I love this article and know it to be true. Tony Hawk made a smart business decision that would expand the skating industry and make it more popular while also making him a lot of money. People that call him a sellout are only jealous that they did not come up with this lucrative idea. Expanding an industry like skating was not the issue that most skaters had, the issue was that Tony Hawk brought it about while making him the most famous skater there has ever been.

That’s pretty cool how he said "People don't call you a sellout until your stuff finally sells." If you can get paid for it why not. A lot of people use the term sellout when they feel something is becoming commercialized. The question tends to be what happened to the art.

Instant MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
First off in order to be called a sell out that means you were successful. People get jealous and they will always want to be where your at if you successful. If you are successful its human nature to rest on your laurels and not have the same work ethic and creativity that got you there in the first place. That is something to keep in mind once you get to the top.

Instant MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
Being that a sell out is somebody who makes it to the top and then starts to act belligerent or in a sell out way is no good in my book. Another way of selling out of one such is because you have done so much in one spot that it is time to broaden your horizons and take what is yours and do things people may not be use to seeing

INSTANT MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
I don't care about being a sell out. I'm concerned with myself and my family only. There is no way that I would sacrifice my earning potential to cling to some misplaced sense of duty to others in that industry. At the end of the day, nothing they say directly affects you. Your actions and decisions, however, most certainly do.

INSTANT MBA: You Need To Sell Out Without Selling Out
If people say you are a sellout, don't let it go to your head. People get jealous of successful people so when people try to put you down because you are doing well just ignore them. Stay positive if your business is doing bad or good. Being a sellout is a great thing so don't let peoples negativity bring your business down. Keep doing what your doing and try to be even more successful.

This article causes a reader to re-think the word sell out. As in the Tony Hawk story, Hawk is not a sell out for creating a video game and making money and gaining popularity from it. The love for the sport was not lost in him doing this, he just grew the sport. Other people who may be quick to use the word sellout maybe saying that because they are simply jealous.

This was a good article. I agree with Tony Hawk, sometimes when you decide to take a different path some people will call you a sell out. I don’t think that anyone is selling out. Sometimes you have to do what is best for you and your situation. I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere. But being and inspiration to others can be just as important. I believe that making a difference in someone’s life can be very rewarding as well as self-satisfying. So don't be a sell out
