I like the analogy that was used about a business entrepreneur being like a painter. In business you need to pay attention to every little detail. Every little detail makes the picture whole. If one brush stroke is wrong or out of place, your picture will look incomplete. This is the same with business. If you do not have every detail in place, your business will not be successful. As a leader, it is your job to ensure that every person in you business pays attention to all of the little details and works as a whole to create the perfect picture.

Instant MBA: Richard Branson 'Building a Business Is Like Painting a Picture
I believe in order to start a business or anything one has to have a vision. Once you have that vision you begin to put the things in order than put it on paper. I can see why Richard Branson quoted "building a business is like painting a picture", because the order is the same way. How can one paint a picture without first having a vision and the same with a business.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture Building a business takes a lot of time and dedication to make sure everything works out perfectly. Like a painter has to have everything in place before he starts, a business needs to have its main foundations set in order for it to begin. Every decision needs to be made carefully because the slight slip up could ruin the business just as the wrong stroke up a brush could completely mess up a painting.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture' This article makes a unique but good point. Though your idea of perfection and my idea of perfection may not be the same. The point that I take from this article is something is not worth doing if it is not worth doing your best. Don’t go into business if you are not willing to put forth your best effort, it will be a waste of your time and the time of those who are willing to invest in your business.

Instant MBA: Richard Branson 'Building a Business Is Like Painting a Picture'
The point of this article is just that building a business takes time, and attention to detail to make it exactly like you want it. Just as an artist needs essential tools to paint a picture, an entrepreneur needs his essential tools, i.e. an idea, a partner or group, and a little support. With a little time and commitment, you can turn an idea into a masterpiece, but it you mess up, it can take a lot to correct certain mistakes. This is why both things take precision and persistance.

Alt link 23: INSTANT MBA: Take Control Of Your Reputation
People should go by the rule “if you wouldn’t want your mother to read it, then don’t post it online.” Because of the ability to be anonymous on the internet people think they can say or write whatever they want. Unfortunately sites like Facebook and Twitter are as transparent as it gets, so everyone can see what you say and what you do.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture'
I was raised to believe that everything you do should benefit another in some way. The way you work, the way you move, and even the way you walk. Doing things that are not beneficial to others brings the value of life down. You are only here for a short amount of time and helping other people is the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I can accomplish my life goals, I hope to open up a soup kitchen and let people eat for free. Otherwise, I will donate around ten percent of my check to those in need - not specifically to one foundation.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture'
He is saying that business takes a lot of planning. Without planning, the little details will fall through and the logistics will kill you. The term "the devil is in the details" comes to mind while reading this article. Without a solid plan, the millions of little details in the today's business world will knock you down and the drag you through the mud.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture'
I agree to some point as creativity plays a part in starting a business. With creation and vision, there's a starting point. But it's about developing the perfect business and that doesn't always happen on your first vision. Sometimes it develops over time into the perfect picture or business.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture'
The article talks about how building a business is like painting a picture. I agree with the article because painting a picture take a lot of planning, time, and effort. If you rush anything when building a business then you are not starting the business with a well thought out plan. When making decisions when building a business you should think about each decision very carefully and not rush. If you create a business with a good thought out plan then you should be very successful.

Instant MBA: Richard Branson 'Building a Business Is Like Painting a Picture'
People don’t always start a business to make a radical difference in people’s lives. For instance a freight company. Its main purpose is to provide a service and deliver a product in the same condition from point A to point B. I do believe that you need to have the brush and paint to start drawing but not everyone afford to purchase a brand new clean canvas when you’re starting up a new business.

INSTANT MBA: Richard Branson: 'Building A Business Is Like Painting A Picture'
This article provides an interesting analogy to building a successful business. I would never have thought that starting a business was like painting a picture, but I now see they do have their similarities. Before beginning a painting the artist must first envision when they will be painting and then gather all of the necessary materials to bring the painting to life. The same is true for an entrepreneur starting a business; they must organize their vision and then gather the necessary materials and knowledge required to bring their vision to life. While painting, the artist meticulously paints each stroke to make the painting come out in the way they planned. The entrepreneur must plan each move they make in this way as well to bring to life their vision, just the way they planned.

Mr. Branson is obviously very successful so I can't really argue with anything he has to say about business. But I don't think you need perfection in business especially when you start out. You need to have a market that is interested in your product or service and give all you have to them. Many sleepless nights and early mornings but you can't demand perfection of yourself because you will run out of steam before you start.

Instant MBA: Richard Branson ‘Building a Business Is Like Painting a Picture’ A business needs to be defined by its goals and purpose. These two things come from planning for your business. planning for a business is essential to its well being. In order to reach your goals you first have to execute a plan that is strategically aimed at those goals and can reach them in a normal time frame.
