Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Jeff Bezos - "What's dangerous is not to evolve"Then, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Jeff Bezos - "What's dangerous is not to evolve"
This video jumps right to the point of how it is dangerous not to improve or innovate in a business or for your customers. This is true in almost all scenarios of life. If you do not evolve or try to grow and change, you will be stuck in a time zone that may make your company go out of business because you are not adapting to the changes that are being thrown at you. Some people are scared to change because they are scared of failure, but if you want to have a successful career, fear of failure will definitely be a hindrance to your success. Also, I like what the speaker was saying about adapting to what the customer wants.

Jeff Bezos - "What's dangerous is not to evolve"
The only thing constant in life is change so if you're not evolving, you're stagnant.

Jeff Bezos - "What's dangerous is not to evolve" I think that putting away the fear of failure has to be the hardest part of starting a new venture. And once you have finally accepted that failure will always be a possibility, you must constantly change your business. With the advances and changes that happen daily now through technology, it is very easy to become outdated quickly.

Jeff Bezos - "What's dangerous is not to evolve"
This video stresses the point that it is very important to constantly evolve your business to meet changing customers' needs. It is the responsibility of the company to constantly monitor its customers and not rely on them to point out when it is time to change. In today's society, technology creates changes quickly and companies not on the forefront of evolving can quickly become outdated and lose their customers or even the business itself.

After listening to your consumers. What are you going to do about it? Consumers expect you to listen but not just to listen. They expect you to react to their demands. They talked about the kindle. The kindle is for a specific market of people. The kindle works well but I feel its mainly for people who love to read. The kindle is best for reading unlike other tablets. Listen to what your customers are saying.

TITLE- Jeff Bezos- "What's dangerous is not to evolve"
This concept is so true. Business is constantly evolving and in today’s society more and more rapidly. In the book “Brand Simple” it discusses how businesses sometimes focus on coming up with a game changer when in many cases the best ideas come from simple consumer necessities that they have grown to accept out of habit. I feel that this concept directly correlates to this video in that, in order to evolve as a business you must find things or small ways to improve customer satisfaction. Then adapt to all changes throughout the business so that your business evolves along with the customer.

I would definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thank you professor! I feel that is video tells a lot about someone in the business world should think and act in becoming a successful entrepreneur, salesperson, or someone working in the corporate world. As the CEO of Amazon explained everyone needs to evolve as a person and also in your skillsets. I actually think if an employee does not fail or come short of certain goals they never learn from their mistakes. I feel evolving is in the normal progression of everyone trying to success in the business world. I definitely had my failures and with those failures came experiences and with those experiences came some incredible job opportunities.

Evolution is largely important since the marketplace is constantly growing and its demands are changing. Sticking to one strategy only works for so long, before failure ensues. To put into perspective, it is equivalent to betting on the same hand in poker or the same horse in a race. It's not realistic...life isn't that simple. Sticking to one strategy is only good when people are having trouble mimicking the strategy as it represents a competitive advantage. However, every advantage has a greater chance of being copied in the long run. By evolving companies can successfully find core competencies to stay ahead of competition. Of course failure will happen, but failure is needed to know what a company is really weak at. The weak but desirable components should be improved, while the strengths should be further strengthened.

This video was interesting because it talked about how important it is to invent. You have to keep inventing things for customers. You can't be afraid to fail if you want to invent things for customers. You have to figure out ways to keep the customers coming back for more.

Improving customer experience is something that should be constant. And in the business world, evolving is also something that you need to do all the time. Creating a platform for sellers to being able to sell their products where the customers is happy and is easy access is important. Amazon.com is a huge success right now. They offer a variety of products at low cost. They make it convenient for customers which is very important.

I agree with this 100%. The goal I would say would is to be ahead of the times. Now, that is easier said than done. Figuring out what the next trend may be hard to figure out. Some people might say it is a 6th sense but it also just takes some research.

I found this video to be very true. I think Amazon is best known for being innovative and always evolving; as well as for their bookstore, which is what they started on. Amazon is always trying to find new ways to be better than their competition; one way of doing that was by introducing the Kindle. Once the Kindle was established on the market, Amazon has always being finding a way to make it better. Also, Amazon is always trying to beat their competition. They now not only sell books, but they also sell everything under the sun, including vehicles. And also, Amazon will also be selling groceries online.

Without change we cannot grow into a better person. If a company didn't change it would eventually become outdated and will be forgotten about because of all the new company's that relate to what is best for today's world. I think of it this way, when you workout your supposed to change up the routine so your body doesn't get used to the exercises and still challenges your muscles.
