Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Al Pacino "Inches" Speech, Any Given Sunday (1999) Then, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Al Pacino "Inches" Speech, Any Given Sunday (1999)
I enjoyed watching this video! This was a great motivational speech given, and it can be applied to life as well (not only football). When you are thrown into a situation, it is your ultimate decision that can make the difference between success or failure. If you do not seize an opportunity or take advantage of scenario during your window of time to make it happen, that situation may not ever present itself again, and you will be stuck wondering "what if." It is important to make every move count in life, and to execute your moves to the best of you ability. I also liked in the beginning of the video how Pacino talks about getting back up once you are knocked down.

I have never seen this movie but was definitely pumped up by this speech. I think that everyone needs a pep talk sometimes, not just football players. It would really be nice if businesses did something similar to this. It would really get people excited and motivated about the job or task.

Al Pacino "Inches" Speech, Any Given Sunday (1999)
It was very motivating to see Al Pacino pump up these initially somber football players. This video is a great example of bringing a team together to work for a common goal. The coach finds a way to get all the players willing to fight back and make every "inch" count, even though individually they may seem like insignificant achievements. But, added together, they add up to something worthwhile.

This is a very motivating speech/pep talk. It's basically saying that every little bit helps. Even if it doesn't seem like much, a small step in the right direction can help you meet your goal. It is sometimes easier to get to that goal with a whole team of people behind you and that sometimes small efforts by many people add up to a huge effort by the team and all involved.

There was some great actors in this film. Every inch counts and don't be afraid to ask for help from the man or woman next to you. In life we are all fighting for something a degree, a promotion, a better career, and more money. I enjoyed the video it was great. I felt motivated I could go and win that game after a speech like that. Its amazing I wonder if coaches have to go to speech pump up classes. Coaches tend to give the best speeches.

I would definitely share this video with friends and colleagues. Thank you Professor! This is not only one of my favorite movies but Al Pacino is my favorite actor of all time. He plays roles with conviction and emotion. I feel that in my life not only am I someone who is emotional but also carry my heart on my sleeve. In "Any Given Sunday" Al Pacino is dramatic and full of inspiration. Al really let's his players that the game between the hash marks is very parallel with the story of life. You have to want it and give 100% because no one will feel sorry for you and no one will ever give you anything. You have to struggle and fight for everything you accomplish in life.

TITLE- Al Pacino "Inches" Speech, Any Given Sunday (1999)
This is absolutely one of my favorite motivational speeches. I have watched it many times and still get goose bumps when I see it. Anyone in any industry has a lot to gain from this video. Throughout life we are faced with decisions and situations where it is easy to skip small steps or over look minor details. Taking advantage of every opportunity and working hard for every inch will always result in successful growth both in business and in life.

So many good things said in this video. It is so true that you have to work really hard to win or get where you want to be in life. Every inch counts no matter what you are talking about. Teamwork is crucial to the game and work related task. Trusting each other to make sure everyone is doing their best to push everyone forward. Great video!!

This is one of my favorite motivational speeches of all time. Being a former athlete, I would watch motivational speeches all the time. This speech can be applied to anything such as business, relationship, life, etc. Al Pacino delivered a motivational speech that anyone going through adversity could relate to.

To put simply, I loved this video! The message is strong, real, raw, punctual, and easy to understand. We have all gone through hardships challenging our very being. I think everyone can relate to this. In these moments, surrendering seems alluring...almost attractive because giving up is the easier option. The coach understands this feeling and encourages his players to push through temptations because the hardest challenges are the most rewarding. His solution is to break goals down into quantifiable units or "inches". In turn, these inches will be easier to achieve and will add up to something greater. This is excellent advice for anyone (I strongly stress anyone), especially for people under pressure and anxiety. It is a great way to build strong foundations for progression to rest on.

I have not seen this movie, but it was a great speech. In the business world, just like in football, people have to work together for a common goal. People have to work well together to accomplish certain goals. Those who work together shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help and know that others have their back when a situation comes up. It’s the little things that help. We have to work hard for what we want out of life and it will not be handed to us as Al indicates in the video that he can’t win the game for them. It is up to each person to fight for what they want.

This video was extremely motivating. It motivated all of the people in the audience it was intended for. I think it's important to not take life for granted. Life is very important to spend living to the fullest. I think it is important to fight for everything in life because you never know when life is going to throw you a curve ball.

He is a great motivator and that is because he is correct. I finally learned to live when my best friend was diagnosed with cancer about 2 years ago. It showed me that anything could happen to you at any moment and change your life forever. So why not win the game and live life to the fullest.
