I do have to agree with this video and really want to remember those four words when I embark on my career. I would like to emphasize on the two words that really caught my attention, community and significance. As a leader I want to give out responsibly to my employees and not rest all the responsibility on myself. I think it is important to trust other people to do their work because of many reasons-1. They will feel a since of accomplishment and will get more out of their work and 2. You as a leader will be surprised at the work they can accomplish and will be able to do other things with your time. I also hope to express their significance in projects and/or things we are doing as they complete their responsibility.

I think that I am this kind of leader and if I am just living in a dream world of self perception, I hope that I will become this type of leader. This clip was more genuine and informative to me than #2. I found myself enthralled with what he had to say. CASE-Community, Authenticity, Significance, Excitement. This guy not only provided an excellent acronym, but examples as to what it truly means. I know for me, as I look for someone to follow, I want these characteristics and qualities. If I feel like I am part of a team, I will try harder. If I feel that my leader is authentic, and he is genuinely invested in me and my company or the company I will try harder. If I feel like what we do is significant or that I am significant then of course I try harder. If I feel the excitement from my upper managers, leaders and peers then it's much more fun to go to work and work hard, smart and effectively with quality results. I really enjoyed this video, not just because of the guys accent either.

Authenticity this word used in the video stuck out to me. This word to me encompasses all of the qualities of being a leader. You must be real and show that you can be trusted. This can be done by not being afraid to do the dirty work and learn hands on what the lower level people do in your organization. There meaning of an effective leader is to excite to do a good job. I think is great because you need to have fun and make people happy. Happy people do better work and perform better in tough situations.

This is good general information for a leader to have. However, people want more specific things most of the time so I am not sure how helpful this is. People also want results. If you are going to promise these things then you must show them results. I do believe these are good starting points to build in your business for your employees.

This video is very eye-opening in the fact that it surprised me that people do not trust their business leaders today. I believe the people answered very intuitively by giving their 4 things they want from their leaders. These four things are extremely important for leaders to encompass and manage by to really take the reigns of their company's employees. Employee happiness and satisfaction is directly proportionate to productivity and output. The happier one's employees are, the more personally invested they will become in whatever project they encounter, which leads to better a better quality product or service.

To me, an extremely vital role for a leader is to be loyal. I've been in business situations where my leaders were excited, passionate, and forward-thinking when it cam to the future of the business. But when it came to employee retention and costs, they were quick to cut ties. Employers look for loyalty in their employees but nothing ever says the employer will be loyal to the employee. I want my leaders to take interest. Take interest in my abilities and what I can bring to the table. Leaders need be leaders by standing up for their cohorts and take a stand for what is important. Believing in more than a job.. believing in a community.

In my opinion, the most important quality a good leader needs to have is trustworthiness. In order for others to follow and listen, they must feel secure and confident in their leader. Along with trust, they need to feel a sense that they are doing the right thing, as well as doing an important thing. In my personal experience, I have dealt with amazing leaders and not so good leaders. The leaders I looked up to had qualities such as patience and organization as well as the aforementioned trust and assurance. I treated these leaders with respect as their employee, and they returned the same amount of respect to me. If something was done wrong, they handled the situation in a strict but responsible way, fixing the problem without being offensive or rude. The leaders I’ve had that I have not liked were the opposite. They did not know how to deal with situations, and would be rude instead of calm and understanding. I did not want to go into the job that I previously loved, because my leaders were unorganized and seemed to not have any interest in being there. Many people think it is easy to be a good manager or leader, but the qualities it entails are very important and not everyone had them.

I love that true leadership is exciting people to an exceptional performance. I have worked in the fine dining industry for three years now. My boss is great with our guests, but he is so negative towards the employees. I've worked at the Ritz Carlton as well, where the motto is "Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen". I thrived at the Ritz because of the way I was treated by my managers. Every day before our shift started the managers motivated and drove us to do our very best. They built us up and made a very positive work atmosphere. At my current job, being torn down by management happens entirely too often. There are major benefits to motivating employees rather than putting them down. I feel like the best leaders in a business atmosphere are the ones who can stay positive in stressful situations.

Leaders would not have existed without their followers’ compliance. People don’t randomly follow anybody. The people they choose to follow usually have these things in common. They respect their followers always, show enough support and trust, and they have the vision of how and where the business is going be, and they always will communicate with their followers. They lead by example, practice what they preach.

I enjoyed the video to a certain extent. I personally wish he would have went into more detail about the four things people look for in a leader. Some examples of how to achieve all four would have been nice or how to improve if you are already working on them. I felt like he did a lot of talking building up to the point, then barely touched on the point. I personally think those aren't all the qualities a person looks for in a leader but that's just me.

This video hits some of the key qualities leaders should possess or strive for. I believe in order to motivate your employees it is important to show them a clear vision. The vision needs to make the employees feel as though they have a goal that is bigger than themselves. Its also important to communicate this vision with excitement. It is hard to expect your employees to get excited about something you may not be excited about yourself. Finally, people who feel as though they can trust their leaders willingly follow. Getting an employee to trust his/her leader may take time, but once an employee trusts you they will trust your vision as well and follow you wherever you'd like to go.

Some areas an effective leader can focus on is: Giving Direction - about what is going on in the workplace, goals to be made, and improvements that can be made. People want to be well informed. Open communication also falls under this fundamental component of a leader’s responsibility. Coaching - being a hands-on leader shows how a leader is interacting and focused on helping. Monitoring - reviewing completed projects, when performance is measured, performance increases. Recognition - people like to receive recognition. Consider recognition when people consistently perform at a high standard, when they exceed your expectations, go above and beyond, or when you feel they need a bit more motivation.

The video is fairly accurate in regards to what most people would want from their leaders. At Wal-Mart Distribution Center, our General Manager and all the Operations and Area managers provide input on how the DC is performing amongst others and how can we (as associates) can improve and succeed as a whole. There are incentives when certain benchmarks or goals are reached such as quarterly incentives, pay raises, cook outs, and more. The GM and Ops managers are constantly motivating their teams to perform accurately and efficiently. A negative manager creates a negative environment for the associates. Community, authenticity, significance, and excitement are all there with my current managers. I enjoy my job and enjoy going to work because the positive environment we work in.

I love this video because it certainly signifies what I feel is important in leaders. Making your team feel important and showing praise when necessary is a very vital part of managing. I have worked in several positions in the past but currently I am working for a clinic in which I manage a group of employees. The reason I believe these employees respect me is because I am very respectful with them no matter what the conversation, and I always make them feel significant. Human dignity is hugely lacking in most businesses, and I find that to be one of the biggest problems with them.
