I would have to agree with this article, a large part of the business world is being able to adapt to changes. Whether those changes are due to the external forces of business or trying to change internally to have a competitive edge. I feel that competition plays a huge part in how companies act. If a competitor is doing something that is successful then my business will more than likely need to come up with ways to match it or conform to that idea. A business can never rest on their achievements, it is always a constant outlook on the future and what it holds and who will get there first with the next big idea. I'll use apple as an example, their iPhones were top of the line but now the iPhone is under attack from other businesses in that market and they haven't been able to come up with anything new or fresh like the iPhone was.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea
This article embraces the idea of evolution and diversity. It states that in order to to be successful one must be willing to change the formula of even the most successful plans. Personally I belief this idea may be valid for some companies, but not all. A successful football program should not bench their star player, Coca-cola should not change their recipe, and a college student who is having success in their major should not change it. While the examples are extreme, they demonstrate an argument that is valid. If the original idea is strong enough the formula for its success will survive.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't Be Stuck On The Original Idea
Of course it is always necessary for the customer to believe your business is relevant. If you cannot provide what demand requires, there is no purpose for your business. There is always someone waiting for you to lose your appeal. They will have the opportunity to profit and gain the customers you lost by not being able to adapt to the needs of the customer.

One thing I’ve learned from life is no matter what, things never go the way we plan it. For this reason we need to be open to change. This is important to keep customers happy. When competition is up to date with the latest in technology in convenience and you’re still stuck in your old ways, you have a problem.

We should be adapting everyday to new things. Change is good with change it allows for new ideas. Think about apple to many people were not fans of apple and then there was the iPhone. That one idea changed the way technology is now and everything in the future. There one change in market created them billions in revenue. If we all can change on little thing we can grow and make ourselves seven more successful.
