Instant MBA : Zappos founder says you should't be stuck on the original idea
This link talks about being ready for change. It talks about how technology is growing rapidly. The owner of Zappos tries to suggest to be ahead of change and do not let it catch up to you. This is true because you don't know how dramatic the change will be. Being ready is the key objective when running a business.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
This article gives probably the best advice for any business man or woman. The article says that you should not be stuck on your original business idea. Today the world changes so quickly, especially with the ever growing change in technology. As a result, it is so important for business people to be able to adapt and change with the industry. Although we like to believe otherwise, sometimes our plans do not work out the way we want them to. However, that does not mean that we should abandon our ideas all together but instead we can just change them slightly and still become successful.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
I believe this article hits on a very important aspect of business and management, that is adaptability. The only thing that will never change is that there always will be change. You must be prepared for when change comes, there must be a proper plan that has been expressed throughout the organization. This article also addresses that you must be willing to change out of your old ways. I have seen many people become stuck in their ways and eventually fail because they would not adjust.

Adaptation should be a concern for everyone. Reflecting on it, life is about survival of the fittest or who is able to adapt the best to whatever conditions. Businesses that dwell on the past and not anticipating on future changes will soon be left behind. Being prepared for any possible changes today is the best plan because of the constant changes faced today as stated by Tony Hsieh. Another fact this article hits on is to expect and plan for change. How can a business fail if you are already prepared for any and all uncertainties.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
It is important for any business to be able to change. Now a days with technology moving so fast, there are always more more efficient ways to do something. By doing this you can also stay competitive and improving your company to stay ahead of other companies in your same industry. If keep being stuck on your same original idea, others will probably take your idea and make it better by tweaking it and making changes to it. So one always needs to stay ahead and be able to change and do things differently and uniquely than the rest of the companies.

Instant MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn’t ‘Be Stuck On The Original Idea’ I like this article because it explains how one shouldn’t be set on the original idea. They should expand on that idea and make things different and interesting. As society changes, companies need to change to conform to those changes. If a company stays with its own ways than they will never be able to stay in business because society and ideas are always evolving around us. Things won’t come out right the first time so people need to learn to embrace that and try something new.

I believe it is so important for not only companies, but workers in general, to ALWAYS be learning and adapting to the changes in the environment. Success comes from a change. I think this article relates to both the business world, and personal lives. It's not a good thing to be stuck on an idea that did not or will not work out and not be open for change. It's important to accept new ideas for both business and personal growth!

Things are constantly changing, especially technology. This article reminds us of that and how important it is to not get stuck with our original ideas. Often times businesses get used to things a certain way that they aren't always open to change. However, if they want their business to continue to succeed, they have to be willing to keep up with the new changes going in the world. Social media is very big these days and a lot of restaurants, clothing stores, bars, etc. have made Facebook pages for their business. This is a great and FREE way to advertise. Some older business owners don't want to learn how to work facebook or think it's not useful for their business, but I think that it could really help them out to a certain extend.

I think it is important to follow the advice in this article. As a business owner or someone who is starting a business it is important to realize that things will be constantly changing and evolving. It is important not to get too "stuck" on a certain idea and be able to roll with the punches. If you are too focused on what you want the outcome to be you will miss valuable opportunities to learn how you can change your business to better serve your clientele and help yourself out in the long run.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
Toney hit it right on the money when he mentioned the exponential growth in technology is the driver for fast pace changes in business practices. Today businesses have to stay ahead of demand foreseeing changes that may take place in the market and demand shifts. If businesses are unwilling to change then they will be over taken by their competitors. We all have to be adaptable to change, even on the personal level. Life in general is constantly changing and it simply demands us to be flexible.

Adapting to change is very important; not only in business, but in life as well. A company will not be around long if they do not adapt to consumers wants and needs. With the way business is today, customers can just about find whatever they want in hundreds of stores. If you want to keep your customers it is important to have what they want when they want it. A business needs to adapt to changing trends and supply what customers want. If not, those unsatisfied customers will tell everyone they know and your business will have lost the original customer and all of his/her friends. On Zappos part, I think relying on the manufacturers to get their products to the customers was very risky. I am glad to see that Zappos holds their own inventory in their own warehouse. They do not have to rely on others. They can make sure things are done the way and when they want them to be.

In business, change is necessary for survival. An organization must keep up with and stay in tune with its customers' and/or stakeholders' changing wants and needs. An organization must also update and enhance its popular concepts and products to continue attracting the next generation of consumers. Restaurants and fast-food chains are great examples of organizations which are constantly changing and updating marketing plans to keep up with cultural trends and competition. With the increasing popularity of such documentaries as 'Super Size Me' and 'Forks Over Knives', restaurants and fast-food chains are finding the need to offer more healthy, low fat and low-calorie items on their menus. Even with rising obesity rates in the US, Americans are dining out more than ever before, and at the same time are looking for healthier options when dining out. Restaurants like Burger King, Wendy's and McDonald's are adding more healthy menu items like salads, veggie burgers, fruit cups, and yogurt to their menus. Providing these offerings are helping them keep their competitive edge among the younger, more health conscience consumers who want be remain healthy while still enjoying the ease and accessibility of fast food. This new consumer wants to have his yogurt parfait and eat it too.

Just because you had success doing something 10 years ago does not mean it should be the same way today. Just think if we still transported everything around the united states by train. I'm thinking that next day guarantee would be difficult to achieve. Walmart has exponentially changed the way they receive inventory by way of RFID tags that allow you to scan in an entire load of material with a single microchip. Think of where they would be if they were still scanning in each individual item.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
Being able to accept and deal with change easily is almost mandatory to be successful. Like this article says, change happens all the time. You may have an idea that you think is really awesome, and it might be, but things happen. If you are able to tweak things as change occurs your idea will be better than it was when you first started out. Look at technology for example. Technology is changing every day and whether we like it or not it is in our lives permanently. Even if you do not like the idea of change, hopefully you can adapt to "rolling with the punches." Otherwise you are going to be left in the dust of everyone else who has. Our lives are constantly "out with the old, and in with the new."

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
Businesses who allow themselves to get stuck on their mistakes, are businesses that are unable to have a chance to make mistakes again. Mistakes allow a business to gain insight on what not to do so that they can deliver a better product or service to customers. Adaption to a business's environment is key to the survival of the business. The Zappos example was a perfect example that not every plan is able to be seen through without changes. I have always lacked a drive to retry things once my original plans fail. Once time is taken to adjust the original plan and the same effort is devoted, I often see better results. This weakness is something I focus on a lot and do what I can to reduce it. No matter what, i will do what must be done to adapt and create better plans after one fails. Hopefully, this will create great opportunities.
