Being able and willing to adapt to change is not always easy. There are some things that are easier to adapt to than others when they are changing, however it is important to keep an open mind. For example, it would be really hard to adapt and accept to the changes that a new boss can make when you've been working for the company for a really long time and then all of a sudden things are changing left and right. That happened to me at one of my jobs, and even though it wasn't hard to do, I accepted that change was inevitable with my job and that I needed to look at the changes with an open mind.

Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't Be Stuck On The Original Idea
A company that can not adapt to change, will not succeed. This is especially true in the generation that we live in today. Our technology is so advanced and is changing every day; we have to be able to keep up. Some business' today are still stuck in the past with their old fashioned ways, but that is not so great for their customers. When Zappos changed their system in terms with logistics, it turned their whole business around. I feel they were able to accommodate their customers more. A business needs its customers and they should always be number one in terms to meeting their needs. It is crucial that business' open their eyes to the next idea instead of being comfortable in their "safety" net. It is not about the business itself being comfortable, but to make the experience for the customers comfortable. There is nothing wrong with trying something new. One may not get it right the first time around, but that's the whole point; to see what other options are available out there. Options are in our reach if we are willing to stretch a little outside our comfort zone.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
This basic principle can be attributed to success throughout history, not just Zappos. Zappos, by allowing change within their initial strategy, has become a very successful entity. Change is not bad. So many people get “stuck in a rut” in their business and personal lives. Life without change reminds me of a puddle of water that just sits without movement. It becomes mucky with smelly substances and eventually dries up to nothing. If business does not allow change then they eventually dry up to become nothing. Change equals innovation that allows fresh water to flow through a business keeping it fresh and alive.

To be successful in business things have to change, if everything is staying the same how do you keep up with competitors and with the global market. If nothing changed in a business then the company would must likely go out of business and lose all of there profits. Samsung, google, and apple are always changing something and that is why these companies are always successful and always showing some type of financial growth.

Zappos founder is right on target when he discusses the fact that we must be prepared for and willing to adapt to change. This is true in life, in general, but especially true in business. I was a manager at the number one fast food chain for several years. What keeps them at the number one position is their ability to foresee what the consumer's going to want and their willingness to make the necessary changes to accomodate the consumer before other fast food chains do so. Change is constant in that industry, and they're ability to predict and adapt to it makes them number one. In my current profession, teaching, I have to expect and adapt to change on a DAILY basis! I never know what each student will bring to my class each day, nor do I know what personal needs he/she may need met. To be the best teacher I can be, I need to expect the unexpected and adapt to it at a moment's notice.

Change is definitely necessary for businesses to survive in today's society. It is imperative that businesses take suggestions from consumers to better improve their products and services. If a business doesn't evolve to ever-changing consumer demands, then consumers will lose interest in them.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea
Businesses should be willing to mold themselves according to the need and preference of its customers. Sticking to the same techniques over a long period of time can be monotonous. World is changing at a very fast pace due to technological advancement. Companies are innovating and trying out new things. Typewriters that people used back then to type documents is totally outdated now. If the companies manufacturing typewriters had stuck to their original plan and kept on manufacturing them, they would have gone bankrupt long before. So,adapting to the changing world is one of the key factors that company must look into and evaluate time and again.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't Be Stuck On The Original Idea
I agree one hundred percent with this article. People get so shaken up quickly at the thought of change that they can't even realize what a positive it could be in the future. It is important to embrace change in business because everything around us is evolving so quickly. If change never happened, everything would be boring and the same so accept it! The only constant in life is change.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
The article makes some very good points on running a successful business today. As a business owner, you must be able to adapt to sudden changes in your business' environment. Failure to adapt effectively will result in the business falling behind its competitors and losing its competitive advantage. Sticking to the original idea just because you are afraid of change will only result in harming your business and the customers may leave. Always try to be the trendsetter instead of the follower, and do not get stuck adhering to a certain plan because not everything goes according to plan.

INSTANT MBA:Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't be Stuck on the Original Idea
In business and everyday life everyone should become susceptible to change! Change is everywhere! In business you definitely need change. The same products, the same atmosphere, the same ideas, all eventually become old. As a human we all like things to be different. For example, when buying tennis shoes. If they never changed the styles, then eventually no one will go buy shoes as often. Nowadays, it is all about the latest trend, kids go and buy new shoes because the style has changed, and not necessarily because they "need" new shoes. If the style remained the same the kids would only want shoes whenever they needed them! I also own a dance studio and the trends of dance change constantly. I would imagine if we all stuck to the old classical ballet then in this day and time not many modernized people would enjoy watching that anymore.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't Be Stuck On The Original Idea
In order to profit in business you have to be able to change and create new ideas. Being stuck on the original idea leads to no where, when creation is not being produced your business is not moving into a positive direction. When you are stuck on the original idea failure does not come across because you did not try to attempt another idea. Therefore, always coming up with a new idea is good, because one learns from their mistakes. This could help one in the future by always being creative and keep coming up with new ideas and not staying on the same idea at all times.

INSTANT MBA: Zappos Founder Says You Shouldn't 'Be Stuck On The Original Idea'
Adapting to change is probably the most important factor in keeping your business alive and relevant. As the article mentions, and as any aware person knows, technology changes faster than many of us can keep up with. This is only one of the reasons a business must be able to adapt and change. With changes in technology comes changes in how customers shop. Zappos.com and Amazon.com are two companies that have been able to take advantage of the ever-changing technological world by housing their inventory in their own warehouses and shipping directly to consumers. By cutting out the middle man they've been able to cut costs and keep up with the "I want it now" attitude of most online shoppers.

This article is giving advice on embracing change. In today's business world, the most important thing is to not be stuck on an idea. Learning from past experiences and mistakes is key for success. You should be willing to make changes and adaptations for the better of the company and customers. A strategy that once worked many years ago, might not be as effective today. Embracing change instead of seeing change as a negative thing, can make the difference between succeeding and coming to a hault.
