Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling Then, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

I use my calendar on my iphone and let me tell you, I update it on a daily basis. I dont know what I would do without my calendar. This video talks about giving time to yourself in your calendar and I never do that. I never really thought about scheduling time for myself in a calendar. I might schedule time for myself and never update it on my phone but I might just think about using defensive scheduling as a method of scheduling time for myself and other.

Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling
I found in this video that forecasting a productive schedule is an important aspect being productive. Part of being productive is having balance between work and personal time. This video has helpful insight for those who lack the ability to plan and organize themselves, however personally I found it quite useless.

Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling
I found the tips in this video very helpful. I do find myself with a long to-do list daily that almost never gets fully completed. We use our office calendar to schedule staff meetings and prospective student tours and consults, and I use my personal calendar to schedule sorority meetings and activities, but I rarely use either as my to-do list. I feel following this new plan may help me better organize my work and personal tasks and activities. Also, scheduling a time for myself to review what I accomplished each week, and what needs to be on the list for the following week will help me create a ritual for better time-management.

Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling
I really liked this video. There have been many times where I have had back to back meetings and barely have time to eat lunch. Scheduling time for yourself ensures you time to get something off your to do list. When you have back to back meetings you still have to get your job done and it's often stressful trying to figure out time for yourself. This is very helpful.

The use of calendars is very useful especially for us students to distribute time accordingly during exam week. I feel like it is a life saver for business people who are constantly busy and working on various different projects. Scheduling time in for myself though doesn't usually make the calendar, I usually just try to take breaks throughout the course of a day. Being able to know what is coming up allows for us to handle it better and be more in control of what is happening throughout the course of a day, week, and month.

Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling
Using the calendar is an important tool needed for daily life. A lot of people do not use a calendar, but If you have a lot of things to do during the day, I think just writing things down will help you get your stress level down, because that way you will not be worried about remembering that. In your busy life life, it is also important to remember to leave time for yourself. I think we should organize our schedule better and leave appropriate time for what we have to do. Overall the calendar will help you manage your time a lot better.

Scheduling is very important I prefer to write my schedule. I like something about pen and paper and I keep up with it a lot better than digital calendars. We change phones so much now so we have to make sure that our backups have backups. The analogy of the human race is always in a race is interesting and we have to remember to slow down and take a breath. We have to plan time to do things for ourselves in business and in personal.

scheduling is not something that everyone is good at, and most people like myself don't even like using a calendar. However tools like defensive scheduling are options where you schedule time to have a meeting alone with yourself. The idea is to make your calendar your best friend, and by doing this you will use your time in the best way possible.

TITLE - Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling
I like the advice that was given in this video. I often times find myself overwhelmed with little tasks that I have to get done or time I have to schedule out of my daily agenda for others. But if we schedule the time we need for ourselves first and have that locked in place, I believe the day or week will run a lot smoother because you won't be worried about fitting in time for the things you personally need to get done.

Work Smart: Take Back Your Calendar With Defensive Scheduling These tips could definitely be useful. I find many days at work the end of the day comes out of nowhere and I realize I haven't met my goals for the day. This can be very dangerous with cut off times looming.

This has been especially helpful for me this semester. I have a new dry erase calendar where I map out all my tests and obligations for the month, and for the most part it has helped me tremendously with deadlines. On the other hand, things I have procrastinated on are my fault and having this calendar in my face when I wake up is a reminder that only I can accomplish the things I need to do to get ahead.

Having a calendar that you schedule everything- even time for yourself- is something that is super important to my success. Having a planner makes this possible. Mapping out things that are important, test, homework, obligations, etc. This is super helpful! I have a horrible habit of procrastination and having a calendar and making sure I stick to the commitments that I make has truly helped to reduce my procrastination- drastically.
