Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination ProductiveThen, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination Productive
I've never heard of procrastinating productively, but this video actually makes since. Even though we've all experienced it hundreds of times, it still amazes me how unproductive I can be in a day I set aside to be very productive. If I take that motivation (that the speaker was describing in the video) of not wanting to the work I set aside to do and apply it to something else, at least the time would not be wasted completely. The only thing I disagree/question in this video is what happens when you are extremely motivated to do anything but anything productive? I don't think their is a trick for procrastinating productively when your brain nor body wants to do anything.

Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination Productive
I'm a huge procrastinator so I believe procrastinating productively works. I totally don't have anything against people who overachieve but I feel like if you wait until the last minute to do things and the job gets done they, hey! Go for what you know!

Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination Productive This is a great video! I am the master of procrastination and definitely end up doing all of the things she mentioned. Cleaning, Facebook, texting, etc. It is a little hard to convince yourself to do something else though because you rationalize that if you're doing something else then you won't be able to do the original task, which you're definitely going to start any minute now!

I am a huge procrastinator, so this video is really good to me. I try to make sure I stay on task, but sometimes I just can't! This video has advice that I will definitely use in the future. At the very least I could be doing something productive while trying to avoid my obligations.

TITLE - Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination Productive
I have a huge problem with procrastination and it really relates to this video. My problem is I seem to always want to be doing something. I always put off the things I don't want to do. I'm not lazy because I am always doing work, but I normally keep putting off this one assignment that I am dreading for so long and keep finding other assignments to do instead.

Procrastination is horrible you are still avoiding the project. For instance we procrastinate on assignments but yet the assignment is still do the following day. Sometimes we have to buckle down and just do it. I understand that if you are procrastinating at least let it be worthwhile. It is still procrastination we have to stop doing that because it causes us to get further and further behind on that particular thing.

I would definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thank you Professor! I think procrastination is in everyone. I definitely believe when you have a paper to write or something that is of urgency to complete there needs to be a plan in place in order to complete that project. Growing up I would wait till the last minute to write essays and research papers until one day when I did not do well. This was my lesson learned. I could have done very well on my paper but since I did not plan and execute accordingly I did poorly. Eventhough when procrastinating you can put off and do other things it is always better to get the main task done and out of the way. When people procrastinate other things may come up that could put the most important thing on the back burner.

TITLE- Work Smart: How to Make Procrastination Productive
Procrastination can be over-whelming and I really like how it is put into perspective in this video. I don’t think it is completely realistic because there are many times when I am procrastinating in hopes of doing nothing at all. However I still think this video poses some valid points and can be useful in some scenarios. I will try to remind myself of this video in one of my many instances of procrastinating and try to still get things done. I think it is a great habit to begin practicing.

Procrastination occurs when you put off intended tasks in exchange for alternative ones. Since nothing originally planned gets done, most people think procrastination is bad. The speaker argues a very different point though. Procrastination can be healthy under certain conditions: procrastination needs to be productive! This is called "structured procrastination" and it has benefits. Structured procrastination benefits off unintended effects. For example, most people "try hard" to avoid what they originally intended to do; this "trying hard" allows them to do alternative tasks more effectively. They tend to do a better job this way than what they would have done normally. The "trying hard" part adds value and engagement to the alternative tasks.

As I have gotten older, my procrastination has became worse. You would think it would have gotten better, but I just feel burnt out on school. I know that if I start trying to work on something that isn't due for a while, it will take me much longer to finish it.

How to procrastinate productively. I know lots of people who I work with that need to watch this. With procrastination comes no productivity. i have always thought of it as a waste of time not a successful thing. Sometimes I do procrastinate but as I am getting better I realize that doing it less definitely made me more progressed in my day and my goals for the week were completed in the beginning of the week instead of starting it till the weekend. Some parts of this video are confusing but I believe that procrastination does not get the best of us and with it people well I know "me" I become stressed and irritable knowing all the stuff I have to do.

I used to procrastinate a lot for school, but this semester I have been doing things way before they are due. I think its crazy that everyone procrastinates over something. I do have certain things I don't like doing this semester, and I do play on my phone for a bit before starting these things. Like I hate doing my marketing quizzes every week. It's really frustrating which is why I get them done the day they open, so I have as little time as possible to procrastinate.

I hate procrastinating but i always do it. Unless I force myself to sit down and do my project all at once and get it done. I always get my work done but sometimes it will be at the last minute.
