When asked as a child what you want to be when you grow up, often we give answers like a doctor, a lawyer, an astronaut, or a police officer. As we get older, our idea of "what we want to be" changer from an actual occupation to the thought of being successful. I really enjoyed this video because I definitely agree with the eight words of success. What I liked even more is that "money" is not one of the eight words. Many times, people, especially business people, associate money with success. If you are rich, then you have been very successful, so if you are poor or middle class, then you are considered to be not as successful. Success should be defined as if you love what you do and want to continue to do it. You should be in a line of work that you are passionate about, can be challenged at and live to serve others in that line of work because especially in our lifetimes, we are going to working for a long time.

If you want to be successful in life, you have to look at what you do for a living as more than a job. It has to be something that you love and that you would do for free. However, you can't just let that come to you, you have to work for it. You need to push yourself to get the promotion or your dream job. You need to focus and be persistent. Work isn't easy and it takes a lot of hard work to be successful, but try to have fun along the way; if it's what you love to do, it should be fun. One of the most important things that I found to be a big key in becoming successful is overcoming shyness and self-doubt; being shy and having doubts about yourself in the workplace and trying to become successful will not work, because if you are shy, how do you expect to work and speak with clients.

Most of this is "advice" for succeeding that I hear often. There is no "secret" to success. Passion, hard work, dedication, etc. etc. I believe that if you work hard and have passion you can eventually obtain something you want. For me, I'm very passionate about art and writing, and helping others and giving advice, and just being creative in general. So I wanted a career that would contain all of that. During career my senior year of high school, I listened to a woman speak about how much she loved her job at Lamar Advertising. I was driven by her presentation and that pushed me to strive for what she had. So, I majored in Marketing, and am about to graduate. My last semester of college and I finally got a marketing internship for Special Olympics Louisiana that I hope will give me that edge I need to find a wonderful career that I can be passionate about and wake up excited to go to work in the morning. I do fully agree with having to deal with a lot of C.R.A.P.

With competition today, it is challenging to become successful. You do need to have a passion for what it is that you are doing. Being persistent and patient is key. Having knowledge in all aspects is very important. This video is great! Not that I have forgotten, but this video reminds me of how being patient and persistent will get you where you are looking to be.

I believe success is one of those words that has many definitions but the key to the correct definition of the word “success” is based on perspective. Many people believe success comes from a career, or from knowledge, or even money. This video pulls in 8 words that define success. (passion, work, good, focus, push, service, and persistence) I like how the speaker does not define success in accomplishments but in what it takes to be successful. I believe no matter how much money you make, the career you have, or how many trophies or certifications you possess, if you apply these core values to the things you do in life, then you are successful.

By using the eight suggested steps, a person would be able to succeed and reach their life goals. After watching this video, I reviewed all of the options and found that I am strong in some of the areas and have shortcomings in others. I will work harder on meeting these objectives and will gladly share these with others on both my job and my personal life.

When watching this video the first thing that come to mind is my involvement in my organizations I have been in college. These organizations have taught me a lot about life and how to handle situations. Because these eight words in some way have been used in working within my organizations. In relation to the video to be successful in life to me the most important is to be passionate about something. Passion to means your heart is in it and you care about the cause or work that you are doing. Like the video said you are working and doing things that you enjoy and not for the money or praise.

I liked this video. Success really is driven by passion. If someone absolutely loves what they do, or strives to be great at something, they will go to any lengths to get there. All of the eight keys to success are dead on. A true passion for something drives everything. You won't quit when things get hard, when faced with difficult decisions, nor when you fail the first few times. Persistence and motivation are derived from that passion you have. Once that certain level of success has been reached, most people look back and say it was well worth it. In the end, it was something they loved & were truly passionate about.

TITLE- Richard St. John: Secrets of success in 8 words, 3 minutes
I like this clip because of the simple but meaningful message, but in my opinion many of these ideals do not need to be simplified or made easy to understand. These ideals should come natural and be evident through common since. Success is difficult and always will be. In the past I have always had a drive to succeed in whatever venue I deemed valuable. Early on it was sports and work, then as I got older education came into the picture. Ultimately it was up to me to find what I wanted to succeed at and at that point passion, focus, persistence, push and all these ideals naturally came out. I think fear, obstacles, and setbacks are a natural part of life as well as personal growth. Without them nothing can be truly appreciated. When one is faced with these challenges those who want to succeed bad enough will step-up and do whatever it takes; those who don’t will back down and quit. Either way it is up to the individual to make the choice and carry it out.

I enjoyed this video because it was able to break down the keys to success into 8 words everyone can understand. Some of the words included passion, ideas, and hard work. An important thing to note is that money was not one of the keys to success. I agree with both of these sentences, because if you have great ideas that you truly believe in, the passion and desire to work hard for these ideas, you will be successful and most of all, happy! A co-worker and I just experienced this first hand. Over Christmas break we wanted to throw a party at the restaurant/bar we work at. We came up with an idea, executed it and had 150-200 people attend and were able to raise over $5,000 toward the charity. This event was the first the restaurant did anything like this. People doubted us, including the owner, but it was a huge success. I definitely contribute the success to our creative ideas, our passion and our hard work.

Work-a-frolic! I love this! Great video that kept my interest and provided information that I will share with my family, friends, kids and total strangers. It's unfortunate that he didn't have this when the young person asked him on the plane... I wonder did he get his or her contact info and have them join the event. That would be a spectacular statement to many people. I also enjoyed the varying people that he quoted. I know it's a seminar, but the plug for $4000 bucks was kind of a downer, but "everybody's gotta eat". This video had some very pithy comments that will be incorporated into my everyday life.

These eight keys to success could not have been more accurate. I love that first and foremost, passion was explained as being an important aspect of becoming successful. Today’s world is highly driven by dollar signs. Many people are in jobs that they hate, or making unethical decisions based on a profitable outcome. Richard St. John explained it perfectly when he said that if you are passionate about something, then the money will come. Another key of success that stood out to me is push. As humans, we all suffer from insecurities and doubt. If we can push through those uncomfortable things, personal and professional growth will come out of it.

This is great advice. I think people can do whatever they want. It just depends on how much they actually want it. Which means you must have passion, push, focus, and persistence to get where you want to be. I believe we make our own luck. If you never do anything, then you probably will not make it far in life.

I used to think success can be measured by some criteria, such as, what kind of work you do, how much you are making, what kind of car you drive, how big your house is, etc. Of course, the higher your job grade is, the more you make, the better car you drive, the bigger house you have, the more successful you are. However, that’s only one form of success out of various ways, which is the financial success. Sadly, it is what majority people in the world are after. Being rich is how they define success. There are so many more forms of success than financial. You can consider yourself as successful for being happy and content in your life, simple as that. Success is that you achieved the goal you wanted to achieve in both short term and long term.

I am confident that any of these factors by themselves would not be enough to become successful. The main reason for this is that everyone has their own definition of what success is. I am confident that having a good combination of any of the aforementioned words would lead the best possible chance to reach a desired successful point in someone's life. I am pretty sure that persistence is one of the big one for sure. Many of the greatest stories contain some element of persisting through difficult times or situations. I personally am struggling with passion, I just can't seem to find something that moves me in that serious way. However, I know that with time I will have the drive to pursue that "one thing" that will send everyone of those other traits into full swing. I would also doubt any successful business leader wouldn't be without any of those words as well.
