Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Richard St. John: Secrets of success in 8 words, 3 minutesThen, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: - What did you take away from the video?
- How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)?
- How might you use these ideas in your own career?
Good luck! David

First and foremost, having great passion is a key ingredient to success. If a person has passion, all the work and focus and persistence doesn't seem like a "job" or a chore. A passionate person wants their company to achieve greatness and doesn't mind putting in all the work necessary in order to make it successful. There's a drive within themselves that pushes and propels them through any hurdles they might encounter. If a person really doesn't believe or really doesn't like what they're working on, they're not going to try as hard for it be successful.

Success can be found in many different ways. Out of the either words, persist stands out the most to me. I have started from the bottom of every job and eagerly pushed and was persistent with my morals. I always did my best and always added new work to my pile. In the long run, persistence always pays off. Even though persist means the most to me, I feel as though all of these words mean one thing in the end - happiness. If you cannot find peace, you will never truly be successful.

Push seems important to me. Someone who is pushed to succeed will succeed. People have to be pushed to be successful in the workforce. My parents have pushed me to succeed in school. I owe them everything for them pushing me all of these years. I am determined and motivated to be successful in the business world because I have been pushed to succeed.

Success is not just handed down to individuals, it is something worked hard for. If you want to succeed in life you have to be willing to work for what you want at all cost. The key words that stand out to me most are work and focus. Individuals need to focus on what they want out of life and then work their tails in order to achieve whatever it is no matter what. If you have the focus and work ethic, you will be successful in my opinion.

I will definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thanks Dr. Wyld!. I took a lot from this video . It makes me think of the bad choices I made at a young age and the persistence and failure I endured. I never gave up and I am in my late 30's back in school to finish my business degree. I feel that I am the true testament of someone who put off going to college because my priorities were in the wrong place. I will graduate in December of 2014 with 2 degrees and I attribute it to hard work and a great work ethic. I am the one who has lived it and will share my story with anyone. I truly believe that when your back is against the wall that is when you realize your strengths and talents.

Though work, practice, push, focus, and the help of family, and persistence anyone can be successful. But if you want to be happy with what you are doing, you really need to be passionate about it. I had doubts about Accounting for a long time, but after working hard through the intermediate courses and really learning about accounting, I have become passionate about it. So its not about how much money I will make, its that I am happy doing it.

In this video, the speaker could not have explained success better. I believe everything starts with an idea and if someone can back it up with passion, work, good, focus, push, service, and persistence; then anything is possible! My mother has always told me, "find something you love to do and make someone pay you to do it." I feel like my mother's quote kind of sums up part of the video. If you love what you do, you'll never work a day and in your life and in the end you'll be successful.

If you want to be successful in life, you really have to push yourself to reach your goals. I think persistence is what really stands out to me out of all of these ideas. Being determined is what has always worked for me in the past; I realized that if I focused and I never gave up, I could usually get what I wanted. Pushing myself is definitely the hardest for me to do out of all of these ideas but if I want something bad enough, I know I’ll push myself to get it. The speaker did an excellent job of explaining success in just a mere three minutes!

The video was great. The keys to success were detailed and outlined very well and showed that basically I you love with you do, everything else you have ever dreamed of will follow. People forget that it always starts from whats within. One day I would love to stand up and cosign on what exactly he was saying. If you love what you do, you will never feel like your going to work a day in your life. Your success isn't going to be determined at how many hours you work or how much money you bring in, but how happy you are within that motivates you to change the world.

All of these "big 8" components are essential for success. I find passion to be the most important component, as I do my best work by far when I am passionate about something. It is passion which allows me to push, persist, and focus on what it is that I truly want, and not be afraid to fail or become discouraged when failure occurs. It all sounds so easy in this video, but there is obviously no single scientific method for success. Everyone works differently, and everyone finds their motivation and drive from different sources.

"If you love what you do you will never work a day in your life". Don't know who came up with this saying but it's true. When you love what you do you will forget that it's a job, and you get paid for it as well. But you must have passion as was stated in the video. Without passion for your work you will never progress with what you do and will most likely end up quitting your job. The most difficult thing for me is to push myself to do what I want. Which is a key for success, you can't just lay around and wait for an opportunity to come your way you have to go find it.

Success is more than how much you make. To be successful in life you have to work hard and have a passion for what you do. You also need to push yourself and not give up in order to be successful. If you love your job you will be successful. People should learn from this video that having fun is also part of success.

Everyone can define and measure success differently. However, success arises from all the same factors in the process to get there. The first one, passion, is important because it is what probably started you down the road for pursuit of success. Do what you love and you'll love what you do, otherwise, it's monotonous work. If you have passion for what you're doing, then most of the other 7 points of success follow. Persistence, I feel, is also a key point. Without persistence, you're first challenge could be your last the following 6 points of success won't come to you. These are excellent points to keep in mind on a daily basis because adhering to them will overcome obstacles and reach success. I would probably do more research on each point to be able to apply them fully to my life and career.

One of the most common thoughts among all individuals is the idea of being successful. However, only a small percentage of those individuals actually put forth the effort and time to make that dream a reality. Sure, there are some individuals who are born into wealth and fame and are never really faced with the challenge of having to fight for their popularity. However, are these people truly happy? Becoming successful is about a couple of things: Being passionate, driven, motivated, and ultimately giving. The first step of our success if achieved by finding and maintaing a clear focus and direction. Once we understand where we are going and what dream we are working towards, everything else will begin to make sense and, if we stay focused, each step will begin to reveal itself in front of our minds. Stay focused, stay motivated, stay passionate, and persist to the end. As each failure and obstacle is overcome, watch carefully as your dream and goal steadily moves itself closer within your mind and life.
