There are many different people from many different walks of life that become successful. Coincidentally all of these successful people have some of these qualities in common. I believe passion should drive anyone and everyone to do what they love to do, whether it makes them a multimillion dollar CEO of a corporation, or a high school basketball coach. The key is to keep pushing yourself to get better and better at your selected profession because chances are you will be doing it for a long time considering where social security is going in this country.

I completely agree that these things may have had a part in each successful person making their mark on our world, but there is one more thing that affects success, sometimes it's pure luck. When I think about someone in sales, sometimes making a sale has nothing to do with that person doing the selling. There are times when it is completely up to the person being sold to to have an open mind and attitude. If I'm having a bad day, no one can even attempt to sell me something. It's important for the sales person to know that some things cannot be controlled. Listening would be one of the most important factors when it comes to success. Listening for a need and help provide a solution for that need.

I plan on trying to be everything he spoke about in the video. Passionate, hard working, and persistence are keys to success. Without passion for what I do, I won't be able to be persistent in reaching my goals. Giving up would be the easiest thing to do if I don't love what I do. Never quitting and putting a lot of work into my life will lead to success. This video was motivational and spoke the truth. Success isn't handed on a silver plater. The plater has to get really dirty before success makes an appearance.

While all of the these points are very important I think the most important is passion. If you have passion for something then you will have the drive to do what needs to be done in order to succeed. Pushing yourself mentally and physically is draining, so you need that passion to keep your goals in sight. One must have the focus and the willingness to practice to become great. Success will come to those who work hard for it. To be successful you need to bring something of value whether it is an item, idea, or your knowledge. The last key point is to persist and follow through. Having lots a passion for your career will help you get through the low points of your career and set you up for success. For me these key points will be crucial throughout school and the CPA exam.

Succeeding in life is having a dedication that supersedes all else. One will typically find an effective way to achieve their goal by first believing in themselves. The drive to succeed becomes a way of life and with persistence, perseverance, and patience anyone can be successful.

Richard St. John's description of success in 8 words was very interesting to me because it came from actual leaders of industry. People who came from nothing to become the leaders in their fields. I believe strongly in listening to those who have been there to learn how to get there yourself. It is very difficult to listen to people's advice because there is no exact roadmap to success, you have to make your own path and forge your own way, but the advice of others can be an inspiration. Serve, passion, work, focus, persist, ideas, good and push. I feel the most important message to be taken here is to find and idea that you are passionate about, find a way to let that idea serve others, and never give up on your dream. I believe this is great advice for people our age getting ready to graduate college. It takes a lot to have faith in yourself and your ideas, but knowing these people have done it helps tremendously!

I loved how he made a "two hour" speech into a three minute video clip. The question, "How to become successful in life", I am sure has crossed everyone's mind. The eight key points he summed up I believe hit all the right points. Passion, Work, Good, Focus, Push, Serve, Ideas, and Persist is a great equation to lead to success. Everyone can relate to at least one or more of those ideas. The one I relate most to (which is kind of funny) is push. Yes, my mother and family push me to do well for myself. My father has instilled in me to become successful and be able to stand on my own two feet. I found my passion, focus, and persistence through the faith (push) my family has in me.

I agree with everything that he said. Having ideas, staying focused, and persistence I think is the most important. Of course, you must have an idea to begin with and if you stay focused and persistent, you can’t lose. I love the way he spoke and used graphics to create a sense of humor in his speech. I will definitely take this video and share it with people that I know strive to be successful. I also will take these “words” into my own consideration in my career path.

Success is certainly not the easiest thing to achieve. How exactly do you know you are successful anyway? People measure success by many different things like money, family, and friends just to name a few. However, no matter what kind of success you are shooting for, hardwork and motivation are necessities. Wanting something so bad you can taste it and working just that hard to get it is the first step to success in my opinion.

I agree that one must have passion to achieve success. Passion makes all the work and persistence come naturally. If you're passionate about a job or career you're more likely to set goals and achieve them, rather than just pushing through for a paycheck. Being passionate also helps to encourage other employees to achieve goals. When others see your passion it inspires them to want to do a better job or put forth more effort, and it helps them become passionate also.

I liked this video because it was a good motivational video on how to be successful. The eight words that he highlights are serve, passion, work, push, focus, good, ideas, and persist. I think that all of these are good ways to become successful in life, and in business. In order to become a happy, successful business person, one must follow all of these secrets. They do not only pertain to business, but in all other aspects of life as well. If someone wants to better other aspects of their lives, such as relationships or getting a degree, and they follow these eight words, then they will have a much easier time doing so.

I loved this video, I know that success cannot be defined by one thing, but you can see it and feel it, it is intangible. The eight ways to be successful are so true. You have to be pushed and push yourself. I am constantly in everything trying to push myself to be my better self. You have to persist through all the “crap” and not give up. If that weren’t the case I would have dropped out of college a long time ago. I think the most important things though are that you have to focus and work hard for what you want. Nothing in this world is handed to us on a silver platter.

I agree 100% that you have to have a lot of passion for what you do if you want to be happy with your career choice. If you do it for love the money comes anyway. And get good at what your passionate about. Push yourself to be the best. This was a good video and I thought all of his points to be true.

This video sums up some very great points on how to be successful. Being part of the MBA program means that we were already successful in getting a degree. All of these steps were used to achieve that. We had to persevere, focus, work hard, be passionate about school, come up with ideas for projects and presentations, be good enough in our subjects to get the grades, serve our professors by giving them quality work of value for passing grades and push through late night studying and 25 page papers. With these steps, lo and behold, we succeeded in getting a degree. I think the most important of these steps is being able to focus. It is very easy to get distracted and overwhelmed. One of the things that kept me going was focusing on the bigger picture. Focusing on your goal makes it easier to make decisions in the right direction and accomplish what you want.

All success, in the long term, is sustainable through passion. Success can be achieved if you possess few or some of these word qualities, but not forever. Passion can be defined as having strong desire, want, feelings or attachment towards something. While the above definition proves to be slightly watered down, it serves to get my point across. In application to the topic of success, I feel as though passion empowers people and their qualities by creating meaning and purpose. Wouldn't a person's desire to push, focus, work, and serve be greater and longer if they had meaning and purpose? I think the answer is yes! Passion acts as both a stimulus and catalyst for serving, pushing, persisting, focusing, working, being good, and having ideas.
