The concept of this article is an easy one to get, especially with the football reference. A business is very much like a football team, you have to have the coach preparing the team for the field, the quarterback leading the team on the field, and the players who execute the play. All aspects are important but, the most important is making sure that the players can work together as a team. The coach has to build chemistry within the team and make sure that everyone can utilize their skills the best they can and that all their skills mesh together to make a team. When there is a harmonious skill set amongst the team, there will be success on the field.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I think that companies should build a team like a sports coach. Sports coaches pick only the best players that can work together to achieve a common objective and that winning the game. I think that in order to be the best you have to hire the best. I believe that constructing a great team will lead to success within an organization.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
As an athlete myself, it is always nice to be on a team that works well together and has chemistry. I think it is important for managers to get to know their employees enough in order to learn their strengths and weaknesses. If a manager knows what employees are good at and what the other employees think about them, it will be easier to put together a team that will work well together. Once you get that team that are similar and can't help each other, your company should be able to expand with all the ideas that the employees can bring to the table. It is very important as a manager to decide who can work well as a team player.

Great CEOs are like basketball plays. They know each other. They work together to win. It's important that everyone be on the same page and share the spot light. If not they will not win. People that don't share don't get very far. You need each other. Working together is the key.

I agree with this article. It speaks volumes of producing quality over quantity. I like the wording of the article. It was really good.

"Build team chemistry like a sports coach"
You should always build a team based on strengths everyone has that compliment each other, and that means having a mix of employees. This may cause some animosity among team members, which is why you're there to keep everyone focused and to settle disputes. The team I'm a part of has a few ill-fitting players. One thinks that they are the know-it-all and tries to make sure that everything is perfect and takes everything to heart when something doesn't run smoothly. This just causes a foul mood when this member gets in a bad mood or talks down to other team members. The other member always has a bad attitude towards everything. It doesn't matter if things are running smoothly or chaotically. It's team members like this that you need to watch out for and remove from your team because it just poisons the whole dynamic of the team.

I like the analogy that Paul spoke on. Being a football coach is being a leader to me. Football coaches have to motivate their employees and create the mood. Paul talked about building chemistry, which reminds me of organizational culture. An organization with a defined culture will have chemistry between members because they can relate to one another.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I agree and find it interesting that most managers I have worked with have this mentality towards management. My last management job even took it so far as to rename all of the management positions to coach positions. Instead of Restaurant Manager, we were Restaurant Coach and instead of Zone Business Manager, we had Zone Business Coaches and we didn't train employees but coached them instead. Management style at the company involved managers constantly moving between employees and coaching them on their performance and pointing out what they had done correctly and what to change.

Having the right people on your team is very important to having a successful company. I agree with this article on having a ball hog on your team even if he or she is very successful can lead to bad attitudes in the company. One bad apple can spoil the bunch. Having a group that works together in harmony for a company can help implement a successful business plan. Teamwork is great when the team is on the same page.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I've always been taught to be a team player. As me and my brothers grew up my dad was always a coach and sort of coached us through life. In every thing we did he related it to sports in which we were all involved in. This concept help my brothers and I relate to real life obstacles. I agree with this article 100% because there is no better team than a team with chemistry. Building a team that has chemistry will always create a very positive work environment. The employees work together and help each other rather than always feeling like they are competing with one another.

In order to be successful in just about everything, it takes a team to build organization. Everyone has to bring something to the table or have something to offer. If everyone within the organization had an all about me attitude or a competitive type of mentality, then nothing would ever get accomplished. I remember in high school my principal would make the statement that everyone should want to be a leader but, there is a time and a place to express leadership. He would also say that there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians. How can I thoroughly do my job qualitatively if I'm always trying to outshine the next employee. In my career, everyone wants to be the person the client likes or prefers and it's easy to become competitive. It's not my job to compete against you but, stand beside you or create my own lane.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
This article is true for both business and sports. You always see the team on ESPN that has all the best athletes, but these athletes do not mesh together and they lose. Businesses, like these teams, need to understand that sometimes the right employee/player is a better option than the best player.

Being head of a company can be a lot like a coach of a major-league team. You have to make sure you have the right combination of teamplayers. "In order to achieve that right mix of team members you have to focus on an important concept — building chemistry, says Spiegleman." We all are award that no one likes the ball hog, so leaders should work to bring together a group of people with varied strengths who are also able to work together. Finding those right people who can mesh well with others is key.

Sports Coaches have a job which requires them to share the teams accomplishment among everyone. Leaders should learn from this practice in every business setting. If everyone can share the excitement and success, everyone will be happy.
