INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
This article offers a great analogy. Both sports teams and companies require a leader that makes the right decisions in terms of talents in order to thrive and succeed. When choosing employees, an organization needs to make sure that candidates represent a good fit for the culture of the company. No matter how skilled an individual might be, if he or she has certain values, behaviors, or attitudes that go against what the firm is all about, then he or she will be doomed to fail within the company. Team members need to complement each other in terms of skills, knowledge, and experience, so they can better integrate and experience an optimal team work. I don't believe there can be a perfect team, but a team should be good enough to work efficiently and make progress beyond expectations.

Instant MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like a Sports Coach
I understand and agree with this article 100%. As a leader, you should want the best team possible to work with. The best way to do that is to terminate and hire. It may sound harsh, but in the business world, emotions are over rated and irrelevant. Looking out for the company’s well-being is the only thing important to any business leader. Possessing talented individuals on a team is fine because that’s what you need. But when the individuals can’t be utilized or they’re ‘ball-hogs’, then it’s time to re-evaluate their employment. No, there is no such thing a having a perfect team to work with, but your team should be able to work as a group effectively and efficiently to produce top-notch services and products. I think this article is an excellent analogy and the message that’s conveyed here is a classic.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I definitely agree with this article 100%. As a leader you want to make sure that everyone on your team is a team player. As stated in the article, no one likes a ball hog! You want to make sure that everyone on your team is able to work together effectively without being over competitive with one another. As a leader it is your job to make sure that you build a team that has great chemistry. You may find great employees that just don't mix well with the other employees on your team, as a leader you must eliminate whoever does not fit on your team, even if it means losing a great employee.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I agree with the article in that you want all the members of your team working together in perfect sync. It is always good to get your team players comfortable working with others so they can bring out the best in the team. Same as the New Orleans Saints the way they were able to bring the team to win the super bowl.

INSTANT MBA: Even If You're Happy With Your Job, Interview For Another
I never thought about this concept but I do like it. I always thought you should look for a job if you were unhappy with your current one. But doing so while your happy with you job, can work to your advantage and your current employers. Reconnecting with your job will make you a better employee because you chose to stay. It provides an added value to you and your work that creates a happy balance. It may offer opportunities that you never knew about, so don't sit back and be happy, explore all possibilities, it could be the best move ever.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
Just because you hire someone who may be the best at what they do, doesn't mean that they will work in your business. You need to build a team of not only qualified employees, but employees that are able to work together as a team. If you have one person that is great at their job but can't work with the others, you have to sacrifice that one person for the betterment of the team and business.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
Having the right type of team can make all the difference. There is nothing worse than a team that does not have chemistry. Chemistry is the way that each player affects each other player’s game, which can be positive or negative. A positive chemistry amongst a team will enable the team to grow as a hole and progress. A negative chemistry will work against the team and hinder growth. If there is one person who does not allow for the chemistry to flow, a manager must be able to recognize this and fix the problem.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
Building a team is very crucial. You cannot just have players who know how to play and all play the same position. Having a good mix of offensive minded and defensive minded people is what keeps the team playing. You need a good mix of people who think differently, but can read each other's moves. Having all well developed people won't cut it if they can't read each other and do what the other was thinking.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
I'm very sports minded so I really like this article. When you have the right people on your team it gives you a competitive edge in whatever market you're in. You need to find people who have a particular skill set that is going to help your company succeed. You also need people who can build off each other and pick each other up when someone isn't doing as well as they should be. When you have the right team working for you you're not gonna have to worry about building the chemistry with everybody because the chemistry will already be there.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach I can see how this relates to a coach. A coach must find a way to improve his team's chemistry by observing his players, their strengths, weaknesses, attitudes, and goals. He must experiment with combinations of players because just because a player is talented does not mean he is best for the team. The same thing goes for a CEO, he must look at his business and see which employees are best for the job and who can cooperate with the rest of the team.

Alt link 77: INSTANT MBA: Even If You're Happy With Your Job, Interview For Another
Going on interviews for other jobs is a good way to keep yourself sharp and up to date on the current business enviornment. there is also hardly any downside for you to do it. Best case scenario, you get offered a job and either take it and are better of or decline and stay where you are thus giving you an apprecation for where you are now. Worst case scenario you don't get the job offer and you still get to go back to your current job knowing more about yourslef and what you need to look for.

INSTANT MBA: Build Team Chemistry Like A Sports Coach
It's a challenge for any manager in any business. I work in a small business, with only 5 employees, a manager, and a secretary. When I first started, the best worker my manager had was also the worst team player. He was able to do anything and everything that was asked, but he did it with the most arragont and unhelpful attitude. It got to the point where his skill wasn't even worth his hassle, and we were forced to let him go in the end. We had to let go of a very skilled worker all because he had a bad attitude.

In business you have to build a team of employees who are team players and bring specific attributes to your company. You have to build your business just like you do a sport team. You have to have certain players for certain positions so that as a whole your team can "win" or in business be successful. If you have players who don't contribute to the team or hog the ball, your team can not "win." I think that this is a good analogy to use and one that leaders should share with their employees. Everyone plays a specific part of the team but without them the team could not play.

Its always nice to keep your options open. You never know what could be out there you may be missing out on. You may find something you didnt even know you wanted just by simply looking. It can also be a good tool in reassuring you that youre happy where youre at and make you appreciate your company that much more. It can also make your current company appreciate you more knowing you had a change to leave and didnt.
