INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
This is a good, and very necessary compromise in a business setting. Of course every employee wants to have a say in how things are done, and of course every manager wants to have the only say in how the decisions are made. So, to compromise, just acknowledge everyone and their opinion, and then make your own decision, as a manager. This is great because not only does it let people feel more important, involved, and in control, but it also gives you an opportunity to hear some ideas and suggestions that might be genius, and might not have gotten heard before.

INSTANT MBA: If You Want To Know If Your Idea Is Worthwhile You Need To Execute
The best time to act on an idea is usually as soon as possible. If not, you will usually end up overthinking it and end up giving up before you have even tried. If you are at a place in your business where you are able to jump right in when an idea is fresh, your eagerness and excitement on the project will usually lead to a positive end result.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
It is often very important as a leader to give everyone on the team the opportunity to give input on decisions, it is not practical to gain consensus on every decision. Often times, it would be difficult and time consuming to try to gain consensus and a decision is needed quickly. During times like this, a leader must listen to input given and analyze the possibilities before making a decision and setting the direction for the team.

People seem to need it in order to complete whatever task is at hand. Taking initiative is the biggest problem. If you don't like the way something is done or the way someone is doing something. Why don't you just fix it? Putting in your two sense gives you an automatic say in decisions that are made. But there is also no reason for you to have a decision in a matter that does not concern you.I really liked the ideas in this article. I think that it is important to allow your employees to have a say so in the decision that are made within the business. As a leader I think that this will allow your employees to feel as if they are valued and that they have input into what decision are made within the company. I do beleive however that there are some decision that only a leader can make because he/she has to do what is best for the company as a whole.

I think that having your voice heard is very important for morale. On the other hand if your voice is being heard over and over again without being applied you kinda feel as if you are getting casted aside. If you want my opinion and you think my idea is useful to the company lets follow up and put it into action.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
It's true that allowing team members to voice their opinions can make them feel important at their job. It's also true that not everyone's opinion will hold value. The manager or owner of a company has to make a decision that's best for the company's bottom line. Opinions from others can be helpful, but not always what's best for decision making.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
I think as a manager who is making a decision it is important to listen to what your employees think about the matter at hand. It is important because it provides you with the opportunity of viewing the issue from another person's perspective therefore you might see flaws in the decision you are thinking about making. Even if you have already decided what the decision will be no matter what I think it is still very important to hear what your employees think. Listening to them will make like their opinions matters and will raise the moral in the company.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
When running a business, sometimes it is a good idea to let the employees voice their opinions before making a decision. If you allow your employees to voice what they think should be done then they will feel like their opinion matters. You don't have to make a decision based on what they say but you can take into consideration what your employees think about a certain issue. If you hear what your employees think about a issue it will help you in making a decision. Your decision is the final one, but when employees feel like their opinions matter it makes businesses run a lot smoother.

Instant MBA: Democracy isn’t always the best option in business
Every business is operated differently. No business plan can work for more than one business. Employees want to be heard and have an opinion in their business they work for. Employees should have a feeling that they are a part of a bigger picture and that they can be part a something.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
Coming from a place of business where it is a big team effort in the success of what we do, I think that it is important to have democracy, however, I think that it is also very important to be able to take control and make a decision when needed. My boss is a bit of a control freak, but I think that this is a quality that makes us successful in the aspect that she can make a decision based on what the business needs and not just what the employees need. She takes in consideration what everyone says, but ultimately makes the best decision based on company needs and what will create the best result!

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
When debating a decision, the leader almost always has the final say, but that doesn't mean everyone can't put in their opinion. Allowing your employees to have their say-so in big decisions makes them feel important and like they are a part of something. Obviously, as a leader, you can't always please everyone, but you can do your best to please the majority of the people. Even putting pieces of everyone's opinions together to make a final decision can be beneficial to not only your employees, but also to the company as a whole.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
The article points out that you don't have to let employees vote and decide every decision that is made. As a business owner, ultimately you want the final say so and control, it is important to listen the opinions of your employees and let them feel as if they are part of the team because you are taking the time to listen to them, it is ultimately your decision. Just because you listen to the opinion of your employees doesn't mean that you have to take it. Employees will still feel good that you took the time to listen to their opinion. If you do choose to go against the advice of your workers, it is important that you take the time after the decision has been made, and explain your thought process behind why you made that decision. Transparent leaders are far more effective leaders that non-trasparent ones.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
I like Whitehurst’s idea of a meritocracy when it comes to team and company decisions. But to add to his idea, I think what he described was actually more like a democratic meritocracy. Everyone gets to have a voice in decisions, but the upper management make the decision. Even though not everyone will agree on the decision, people still feel like their voice was heard, and they were allowed to participate in discussion.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business
I really like the article, everybody deserves a voice, but at the end of the day you have to make the decisions. Sometimes the majority does not know best, and as the head of a company you need to always make the best decision, even if no one agrees with it. I really think he summed it up best at the end "A voice doesn’t mean decision rights. It doesn’t mean you have any say in the answer. But at least you have a vehicle for an opinion to be heard."

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business As an employee it is important that your voice can be heard. And as a leader it is important that you hear these voices. I do agree with the article that some people will not like the final decision but in order to make a great decision it is important to pay attention to all of the factors that is involved.
