INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option in Business
This article explains how in every business you need to let your employees feel like their opinions matter. Every human likes to think or believe that their opinion actually means something. The feel of importance arises which in turn gives all employees a very positive feeling. I believe that in every business you don't necessarily have to take the opinions of others, but at least they are given the opportunity to have their opinions expressed. In my business I don't really have any other employees to listen to because I do everything on my own, but there are times that parents of my dancers have opinions and I am always open to listen and then in turn thank them for their opinions and that they will be greatly considered.

In this article, Whitehurst describes something called "meritocracy". It's where everyone in the company can voice their opinions, but it doesn't mean there will be an agreement on every decision. Once everyone finishes debating, Whitehurst takes into consideration all the different opinions and then makes a decision. Even though everyone won't necessarily agree with the final decision, they'll be glad they got to share their point of view. It's a good way to let your employees' opinions be heard.

I think that managers should always take employee's opinions into consideration. They are there just as much, if not more, than you are, and their ideas may be a key to making certain aspects of your business do better. I have boss that is completely closed-minded to any opinion that we have to say, and it gets very frustrating when your employees are WANTING to engage more into the business, yet they are basically told not to. I deal with this all the time. Managers should appreciate their employee's ideas and always let the employees know that they have been heard.

I think when making decisions that affect everyone in the workplace, those people should have an opinion on the matter. Collaboration and group decision making has been effective in most organizations, however it has its pitfalls as well. When many people are involved in decision making, it takes longer to agree on a final decision because there are so many diverse opinions. In the end, it is important to make decisions that are beneficial for the organization as a whole. Even if some employees don't agree with the decision, at least you gave them a chance to share their thoughts and ideas.

INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option in Business
This article talks about the importance of listening to employee opinion. In Business and in life you can have lots of opinions, but you will need to make a decision yourself whether incorporating with other people opinions or just your own decision. Of course you cannot do what everyone says. Agreeing with everybody's been naive, and no one wants to be naive.

72 INSTANT MBA: Democracy Isn't Always The Best Option In Business Yes you want employees to feel like they have a say in how things are done in the organization. However, if it get out of hand where every wants something else, problems may occur. You need one person, or a few people who can take charge and delegate how the company will run as a whole. If employees want to give ideas to help, that is fine. You don’t want the entire company voting on every issue. Some people may have no idea how international business works and they want a say in a policy. If they don’t know what they are talking about they shouldn’t have a say.
