I really do not like this video. I believe motivation is great but it is not everything. You need to pick a job that you enjoy and have great people there to support you.

Because everyone is motivated in a different way, that should be considered when deciding what incentive to offer. I can understand that monetary incentives can cause people to work harder and give their all or just complete the task and not try-just to get the reward. Some of the best motivations can be just recognition. My biggest motivation is my son. I strive to do the best I can to raise him, teach him, and provide for him. So I try to be a good role model and set examples for him. This is one reason I returned to college ten years after graduating high school. I wanted to be able to tell him that I graduated from college.

This video is interesting. At my job, if we are given a reward for performance I'm all about winning it because I am competitive. However, the tasks given at my job are pretty straight forward. They normally consist of selling a certain product. I could see how giving a large reward to someone for completing a more creative task could be harmful. That individual would focus more on the reward and it would restrict the creative thinking necessary to complete the task at hand.

So after a certain point, people are not motivated by money, especially if they have an abundance of money and live comfortably already. What motivates them after that point? They are motivated by creativity, mastery, purpose, and self direction. People want to be creative in the hopes of making some tasks easier for the human population. They are also motivated by mastery of a skill. For example, the iPhone was not good enough so apple comes out with a new better version all the time. People are motivated by purpose. If they feel like they are needed and like they have an important purpose, they want to do that job. And lastly people want to have the freedom to self direct. They want the power to control what they do. This is hard in the business world because they have to prove themselves and their superiors have to trust them and trust that they will get what needs to be done done. They are motivated to work towards this. It is so simple to think that motivation comes purely from money, but it makes sense that after a certain point it is not enough.

It would be crazy to say that monetary rewards are of no effect, but I think it hits the nail on the head that they can be defective. Money is the biggest driver behind motivation and people will make unethical decisions to have in it some situations. I do not think it is out of the box to think that if someone was offered a large sum to complete a project that they would not cut corners to do so.

I truly enjoyed listening to that video. I didn't want it to end. He communicated the research findings and interpretations so well. I feel inspired to live the rest of my life with this information in mind and hope I never misplace it. I had a job a couple of years ago that I felt like my job was beneficial and I was helping other people have a successful satisfying day. I was happy and I did my daily tasks and I went out of my way to ask to help others in the office if they were feeling overwhelmed. I helped make processes more seamless and really contributed to the betterment of the department as a whole. And let me tell you, I made absolutely no monetary profit. I was paid just above minimum wage bringing home a little less than half of what I needed to support myself. Therefore I had a second job. Back to my point, it didn't matter that I was financially profiting. I was being rewarded with growth and freedoms and respected responsibilities I couldn't get from a paycheck.

Pull your intellectual teaching head never worked in the real world out of your butt. its so much half truth mixed with absolute falsities maybe you'll get a small sense of understanding but this dude is very off. when you take an average sample you'll get an average result. when you take the best it is different what will motivate the best of the best vs the average man. there are fewer of the high performers so it may seem that they are outliers and maybe ignored but they are the bill gates and Steve jobs of humans.

Different things motivate people and the key is to find what does. For most it is money that motivates them, while others are motivated by recognition or fame. The key is to find what motivates individuals which will drive them to go the extra mile when completing a task or job.

What motivates us? Understanding what motivates people can be the difference between good work and excellent work from your employees. This video says that what motivates people is not what we think. He says that once people reach a certain level of rewards, the reward no longer works anymore. You can not just give someone a bonus and expect them to be highly motivated. He says you should give people control of the situation. Let them "do their thing. He also says that people are also motivated by purpose. If someone can become a master at something that has purpose and they can do it in their own way then we will have extremely motivated people.

I believe that everyone has their own "thing" that motivates them. One thing that motivates me might not do the same to my fellow employee. I do agree a lot that people are more motivated and excited to "work" if the work doesn't feel like work. I work as a bartender and a lot of the times it feels like social hour because I am making new friends and talking to my customers therefore it doesn't feel like work and I am motivated to give exceptional service.

Motivation is something that everyone has and it is in their own unique way. I really enjoyed this video and feel like it is very informative and promotes positive feelings. If rewards were given in the workplace for completing your task I feel like many people would work a lot harder and be more productive. I know i have motivation in every day life when i have to study or do homework i have the motivation knowing that when I complete I shall receive a good grade and better my life. Motivation is pretty important in a persons life without it, it would be very hard to be productive and get things done.

From my own experience I know that my motivator is my family. I want to be able to provide for my family and more. I have to remind myself on a daily basis that the reason I am in school is because I want to be successful for my family and for myself. One of my main goals in life is to be able to take my mother on a trip to Greece, because she had never been out of the country before. Money is not my main motivator as of right now in my life and I hope that it never gets that way. When money becomes the motivator for an individual they lose sight of what is important in life; family. You need to find a motivator for you life, it can help you accomplish your goals and so much more.

if you reward something you will get more of that you get more of the behavior you want, and if you punish them less of that behavior. The higher the pay the better the performance until you reach a point.

This video is true, everyone has their own way of being motivated. I think that this is very helpful for people to learn about what can motivate people. And it states that money is not the top motivation which I think is correct. People have different needs and have different priorities. Some people may want more vacation time to spend with their family and some may want higher pay. A way to find what mostly motivates people is key.

I think rewarding people is important for a company to do. You have to let employees know that they are doing the right thing and that the company values them. I feel ad long as a company always follows the right ethics you can never go wrong when rewarding good behavior.
