The "busy trap" is hard to avoid. Many times at work, you are faced with dealing with situations that are unexpected. For me, this is difficult because I like planning out my days and activities step by step. It is important to not let your mind get ahead of you, and deal with one task at a time. A good worker is one that continues to advance in there "to-do" lists, while still dealing with unanticipated interruptions.

I really took a lot away from this video. I experience a lot of what she mentioned in the video. A lot of time we get into a routine at work and become boggle down with a list of tasks. So I think the idea of working smart is definitely important. I will definitely try to create a broad list of things to do at work to allow me a bit more flexibility.

TITLE - Work Smart: How to Avoid "The Busy Trap"
I enjoyed this video and I have to agree with many points in the video. Everyone will experience interruption and distractions throughout the work day. The video taught me that its important to know how you define your work and how you deal with the interruptions, that will make you a good worker.

I think that the 'busy trap' comes hand-in-hand with multi-tasking. Being overwhelmed can lead to less production. Planning and prioritizing tasks and completing them one at a time can reduce stress, reduce the work load and therefore result in more productivity. Most of us are overwhelmed with school, work, home, life in general. I often find myself procrastinating studying or doing school related work. Which should be on the top of my priority list. So I think I will start planning ahead and see how it works out for me.

These work smart videos are all pretty repetitive. They all talk about the importance of time management. Making a list of priorities is necessary for a successful work day. Avoiding so many distractions might help in accomplishing tasks

I believe it is important to make a plan and decide what to do when. But sometimes I think I get so bogged down with making lists and actions that I put off actually completing the task. Most importantly, she said about how reacting to an interruption is just as important. Even saying no is ok. I try not to let me list get overwhelming.

This video contained very valuable information and addressed an issue that is very prevalent in today's workplace, the busy trap. The two most important pieces of information I took away from the video is that an employee gets paid to decide "what to do" and that it is important to keep a list of ongoing projects and their importance. Being mindful of this information would keep an employee proactive in accomplishing tasks at work, not getting caught in a busy trap.

Deciding what to do is part of being a great employee. A great employee makes good decisions most of the time. These decisions involve how to efficiently spend your time by being the most productive you can. Occasionally, like talked about in the video, things do come up. In this case, the employee has to decide what is more important. The thing that just came up, or the task he/she had already planned on doing. making the right decision to what is more important will separate the good employees from the bad ones.

Being in the workforce means lots of decision making, one of them is making decision of what is the most urgent thing to be done today. It is a common sense that we need to prioritize our tasks so that things can get done faster. However, most of the times, people don't realize that actually can boost up your productivity. Multitasking usually don't work well, no matter how good you think you are.

Working smart is important to complete tasks. It is a matter of prioritizing and making time for unexpected occurrences throughout the workday or work week. I think this is an important strategy because most work places run at a fast pace. This allows for flexibility and unexpected situations without disruption.

Great advice! Keep a calendar, keep an agenda, it helps you prioritize your day. If everything is set up first then you actually get stuff accomplished and you don't feel like your running around all day not getting anything done. Its a great practice and a ritual most people should start.

The busy trap is something you need to avoid at the workplace. The busy trap is anything that pops up in your face at work and you give it your attention. You need to plan ahead and plan your day at work so you can keep on schedule. Put the important stuff first and try not to get off course. Distractions are always present and you need to learn to react better and you will be more productive in your work day.

If you get stuck doing before deciding, then you are stuck in the busy trap. Often times when we are working hard we are not necessarily working smart. Working smart is prioritizing what needs to be done first due to its importance and then taking the correct steps to finish it accordingly. Creating priorities helps one stay on task and finish things better. Interruption itself will always be there but interruption is no the problem it is how you react to it that matters.

Prioritizing your work and problems is a good way to accomplish tasks. When you know what is the most important task to get completed you can get it done first. In some situations a problem can arise without warning, but if you know your prioritized tasks then you will be able to combat these problems in a smooth way.
