INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like An Orchestra
The idea of being a leader that runs their business like an orchestra is a metaphor that should be used more often in the work place. When you are a leader, it's important to make sure that every employee feels like their play a certain part in the company. Just like in an orchestra how every instrument has a different sound, or different part of the music. By empowering each employee, they can all work together and in harmony to create a booming business. However, none of the harmony would exist if there was not a leader to keep the pace, delegate the jobs, and keep the business on task! This was a great article!

Instant MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses like an Orchestra
Running a business like an Orchestra is a powerful metaphor. I think that every business owner should read this article and take heed. The idea of everyone working together to create booming business is awesome, but actually executing the process is where the conductor/leader come in. Although it may not seem like it, the leader is the most important aspect of a business as is the conductor of an orchestra. They have to work hard to get everyone together in unity and harmony, which is a hard task to accomplish since everyone possess a different skill and job title. Once everyone is operating together at a steady pace, now they can make beautiful music (a lot of money). This article should be posted up in every business for reassurance of the goal. This was absolutely a great read!!!

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
This article offers a great analogy that defines the main objective of leadership: empower people to create a solid business/orchestra. A leader is the figure that brings together resources to produce results that benefit an entire organization. At some point in our lives, we all are going to be leaders; however, we need to develop those skills over time, and we need leaders we can learn from. Leadership is the ability of people to coordinate and get things done, so every entrepreneur must have some leadership skills to succeed in their venture. Being a leader might be challenging and demanding, but it also offers personal and financial rewards.

INSTANT MBA: The Best Work Cannot Be Achieved With Negativity
So true in all types of businesses, negativity has no benefit in the workplace. People need to be valued and appreciated to produce good outcomes. In general, workers want to do good and impress their bosses, negativity will just discourage the process. There will be times to suggest improvements to workers, but a positive approach will be more beneficial. Providing a positive working environment will produce quality work. Employees like to hear they are doing good, so praising employees periodically is a good tool used to encourage productivity. Workers tend to follow the leaders lead, so keep negativity out of the workplace.

I think this is true regardless of the industry. In my Police department, when I am heading up a project I take a similar approach. Our job as leaders is to Lead, not do the work for our employees or run around grandstanding taking credit from them. We have quality people, our leadership simply gives the troops the tools they need, the right people to collaborate with, and gets out of the way, guiding when appropriate, facilitating when needed, and cheer-leading/ coercing when necessary. No one likes management constantly looking over their shoulder, and well motivated people (when guided properly) will produce things you could never have done yourself.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra This was a pretty good article. I've never thought of running a business like an orchestra, but it makes sense. Actually picturing how the conductor's back is always turned to the audience when they are conducting, basically shows how a leader should always give all their attention to their team of employees. It is the leader's responsibility to lead their team to success. The leader is there to teach their team how to work together as a team and how to build a better business. The leader's role is indeed the most important role. If the leader is going in the wrong direction the followers will follow which will basically cause the whole team to fail. It is important as a leader to lead your team in the right direction, to motivate them to do better, and to show them that you are always there to help.

Instant MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses like an Orchestra
The article explains how leaders should run their businessed like and orchestra and I deem that as true. An orchestra is made up of many different instruments and not just one. That means you have to have people with different talents to make your business be in harmony and also sucessful. You have to have a leader that is knowledge about every instrument or department that can know exactly what to use them for to make the business run or make the sound great. If you are a leader and do not have a clue about what you are doing or what you are working with you will end up with some music that people do not want to hear. A great conductor will give you a great show.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
This is a well-written article but their view is definitely easier said than done. Finding a manager or becoming an owner to conduct employees to consistently flow to your commands is tremendously harder to do than you might think. It is a whole lot deeper than most people realize. I guess if it was easy, everyone could easily become a manager.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like
I agree with the article in that a great leader acts as a conductor to an orchestra. Whenever I am running a shift as a manager at Raising Canes, I make it my goal to lead the crew to perform to standards. Although the customers may not actually see me, it is through my orchestration that they are sitting in a clean lobby, receiving excellent customer service, and get the hottest, freshest food. It is up to me to insure that everything that takes place in the restaurant is done properly, even when I am not necessarily the one doing it. I think the comparison of a leader to a conductor and to their employees as an orchestra, and the music they make to the success of the business is one of the most accurate analogies. I can really relate to this article, and will think of it while running my shifts.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
I'm the kind of person who can help a company succeed like it is being run by an orchestra conductor. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing about other people. There's a lot of people out there that don't care about the company and don't care about the work they're doing; they're just doing it to get a paycheck. I guess that's why we do have managers, to keep people like that on top of their work so the company can seem like it's performing smoothly.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like An Orchestra
Leadership skills are definitely important in the workplace. I agree with this article. Leadership is the key to success. Fifty employees in the workplace could probably make something come together, but a good leader will guarantee it comes together. A business with no leader is kind of like a ship with no captain. It can float around, but it may never stay on its destined course without the captain to guide it. Leadership in my opinion, is the glue that keeps a company together. Without it, things could get a little scattered.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like An Orchestra
This is a very good article. I am a very firm believer that a strong leader will bring out the best in others that are around him. One of the best traits of a strong leader is someone that empowers his employees and gives them the tools to grow and strive. When given these tools the employees will grow and help that leader to grow with them. This is not always easy, since some leaders feel they need to be in control. The leader can still be in control if they give employees the tools to make decisions and empower them to make the decisions.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
Leadership is a very unique way of commanding and coordinating an effective team in a business. There has to be several movements in a leader's strategy to be able to perform at excellence. Just like a movement in a symphony, there has to be ups and downs and build up slowly and finish strong. This is the same for business, start at a low position and work your way up to the very top. This is also a good reason for a leader to keep all their affairs in order and to not only make sure everything is financially in tune, but to make sure that they know what's coming next and what moves to perform.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
The metaphor of leadership to conductor is great. As a leader your team must be happy and work well together. If they are not either it will affect the business’s bottom line and their personal stress levels. An orchestra that isn’t happy they are not going to be in synced with each other to create beautiful music. When a team isn’t working together effectively it shuts out the connection they could have with each other to make everyone a success.
