This is a strong article for businesses everywhere. You have to be willing to do more than just give the orders. The best example for your employees is for them to see that your not afraid of a little work either. Sometimes managers think that their job is to just lead, but the best leadership is leading by example. I agree completely with what this article has to say, and how this can benefit businesses.

This article is on point. The best way to get your team to follow you is to display the characteristics that you want to see them display as well. By working hard, following all the policies and procedures, and doing things "by the book" you are setting the example that you are about the business and your employees should too.

As a manager it is up to me to lead by example. I can't expect my employees to follow each and every standard if I am not doing so myself. I know that that the best way to get my employees to act a certain way or exhibit a specific behavior is to first do so myself. It is very important that the leaders in the company be just that, leaders. Behavior should be modeled from the top down.

If managers want employees to do the right thing then they need to lead by example. If employees always see managers doing the wrong thing then they may feel like it is okay for them to do the wrong thing as well. For example, if a manager at a grocery store is always on their phone then the employees may feel like it is okay for them to be on their phone. When employees see their managers on their phone it will make them not think twice about using their phone while at work. If managers want employees to obey the rules then they must obey them first.

As a manager, I have learned that it is essential that you lead by example. You cannot expect your employees to behave different than you behave. The best way to get them to act the way you want them to act is by holding yourself to the same standards. You cannot expect your crew to not use cell phones at work, if you are always on your cell phone at work. Followers follow what they see. You must set the example and allow your employees to mold their behavior off of yours.

The article takes into consideration a very valid point that not many managers do not take advantage of. By following the expectations you set for your employees, they will see the example you set and do as you would like for them to. If employees feel that the expectations they are expected to meet are not feasible to meet, they will not push to meet these goals.

I think that managers can forget that they need explain the standard and set the example. If the company has a strict policy of being in at work on time, then the managers should be at work at that exact time. If employees see management not taking guidelines seriously, the employees once they become comfortable will also not take the guidelines seriously. Also don't set a good example and do things they way they want to it because their "management" creates resentment and determinates the work culture of the company.

I 100% agree with this article. I found that when I ran my business, actually getting out there and doing work showed my employees that I do what I teach. Being humble and being hands-on will get you more respect than simply telling someone how to do their job. Time to start counting down!!!! 7 more to go!!!!

Managers should always lead the way they want their employees to work. The pushy position leaders are not nearly as efficient as the active leaders. I currently have one of each in my office, one is very pushy and expects us to work a certain way, even though he does not. The other boss leads by example, and is very fair with praise and criticism. Luckily, the “lead by example” leader is in charge of the entire section, so the pushy leader gets overruled.

This is a great message for management today. Some managers think they are above the rules and can just kick back. All they are doing is setting a bad example for their employees. It is important for a leader to create a work place that creates a positive atmosphere, and one way for them to do this is through their actions.

I couldn't agree more with this article. Many managers now a days feel that since they are in a management role that rules don't apply to them. This couldn't be further from the truth as it's their behavior that subordinates see and act upon. I wish managers would understand the importance of leading by example.

Accoording to the article, the single most important factor when developing a company's culture is having managers portray that culture. If managers are "walking the talk" so to speak, or doing what they say they want done, the rest of the employees tend to follow. If the managers aren't doing what they want done, however, the employees will not take it seriously, and the company's culture will eventually fall apart.

If you are a manager know how to be a manager. If you get promoted and do not feel comfortable with being a manager then do not take the promotion. You are going to be a manager know how to conduct your team. Also you should know how to talk to your team members. Do not be little them or make them feel that they are not important. If they have a question or need help, then help them. You are there to make sure everything is running smoothly.

This topic has probably been brought up in these links a dozen times by now. Most people tend to think the phrase “lead by example” rings true. I agree. How can you expect someone to act accordingly if the head of the company doesn’t? When people tell me one thing and I see them getting away with doing another it seems that that is the proper way of doing thing. If people are breaking the rules and successfully getting ahead then it makes sense to bend or break the rules.

I agree completely with this article. It is easy to tell someone what to do and what you want, but when you lead by example the culture becomes contagious. I remember reading an article recently about the worst companies to work for. The first thing that came to mind beside, I’m glad I don’t work for them, was I definitely do not want to do business with them. I can’t see where they would have good customer service if the employees do not believe in the company that they work for.
