Have an open mind when it comes to hiring new people for your business. Yes, there are certain things that they need to have or not have, but don’t be afraid to hire and experience new people. They may not seem as if your perfect person at first, but they could very well show you that they are right for the job. Be more creative when it comes to the hiring process and don’t be afraid to experience new things.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
The author makes a valid point in this article. You never know how a person truly is by simply reading about him or her on paper. As a manager, you could get a resume for someone with the highest of talents and recommendations and hire that person and then find out he or she doesn't fit in with the rest of your employees. Just like we read in one of the previous articles, if someone doesn't fit in with the personality of your group, that one person could pull the entire office down. Then again, you may get a resume that simply looks "average" and hire that person only to find out that he or she is the best person you've ever hired. Just like in teaching, some teachers write beautifully detailed lesson plans and look like they'd be the best on paper. However, when they go to teach, they are not the best teachers. Others may write bare bones lesson plans but be awesome in the classroom. So it's always good to not judge a book by its cover.

I think it is really important to keep an open mind when it comes to hiring. You want to make sure you have people who are qualified and who will add value to the organization. If you are dead set on hiring someone with particular criteria you may potentially lose out on hiring someone who would added multiple benefits.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
You are not going to find someone that is absolutely perfect. It is impossible and yo are going to set yourself up for failure. Even the most unlikely candidates can end up having the best work ethic and your hardest workers. You should not judge a book by its cover. If you judge a person by what is on paper, it could become one of the biggest mistakes you make as a manager. If the hiring manager is narrow minded, the candidates could be so limited that the person who is the perfect person for the position its ignored.

Instant MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop looking For Mr. Right
This link points out that skills sometimes are not on paper, sometimes you must give people a chance. A resume with a lot of skills and attributes are very tempting, but you should still check out the other people applying for the job. This is important as a manager because it shows your willingness to take chances. That person that you were not going to give a chance to may be the person that you are looking for, that will bring your organization to new heights.

I feel that employers should take multiple interviews. I think it's easy to make a resume look good, however, that is not necessarily proof on how well they work or their work ethic. A perfect fit for a job may look good on paper, but maybe not in reality. It should be necessary to keep an open mind on who you hire.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
This article talks about job interviewing and for managers to stop looking for Mr. Right. I think that you have to look for the best employee that will fit the job. They need to be qualified and willing to work hard. A person's determination and their will to want to succeed can surpass even the most qualified worker. So sometime it's not a bad thing to settle for someone a little less qualified but is will to bust there butt to get the job done and to learn every step of the way.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
I agree with this article and personally I feel that too many managers and recruiters focus more on verifiable facts than information that is right in front of them. I have interviewed people that should have been perfect for a position but they can't even show up to the interview on time. I have interviewed people with master's degrees that cannot put forth a professional image to save their life. You have to communicate with a person and ask relevant questions to know if they will be a viable employee for your business.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
Mr. Schoemaker offers some very good advice. It can be compared to the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” As he pointed out, you should have some basic criteria that must be met, such as a college degree or two years experience in a certain area. However, hiring managers should certainly be open to all aspects of a potential employee’s capabilities. Two areas that could be considered are if the person is teachable and if they have a positive outlook and attitude. When I went to work for an orthodontist office, the doctor had serious reservations about my ability to perform the job. After just a couple months, I was his best performing assistant, even outperforming those that had been there for years. Sometimes people just need an opportunity to prove themselves. Those can be your best employees!

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
When searching for potential candidates to hire you have to realize that you will not find the perfect person. Everyone has their strengths and their weaknessesI. For me I think that the right selection starts with finding the right team members, finding people who are already passionate and driven about whatever their particular talent or gift is, and then giving them a mission, a vision, and a path forward. When people see that they can have an impact on something bigger than themselves, that's how they get inspired.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
It is important to be willing to interview many different people who may not look perfect by their resumes. If you give people the interviews, you will have the chance to see their true personalities. A person may not be 4.0, book smart, but they may be very creative and could benefit to your companies ideas. But if you don't give them a chance because you turn them away for not being a 4.0 student in college, you are limiting your company's opportunity to find creative employees.

Making the right mistakes can help you become more successful in life and business. Paul talks about how to be innovative you will make mistakes. I agree and feel learning from these mistakes will help you grow as a boss and entrepreneur. Bouncing back from mistakes are key to surviving in business. As you innovate become more knowledgable on the changes taking place internally and externally dealing with your company.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
It is almost impossible to find a set of characteristics all in the same person. Qualification cannot be compromised with but trying to find so many things in one candidate will possibly make you choose someone you don't want. One should have an open mind while hiring because only paper cannot define a human being. There can be so many qualities in a candidte that his paper does not show. That person can be very valuable to your company even if he does not match with your Mr. Right.

INSTANT MBA: When Interviewing Job Candidates, Stop Looking For Mr. Right
Know one is fully rounded with skills. Each of us are stronger in some areas than others. Selecting candidates from a certain criteria can be beneficial to weed out the less likely ones to excel but employers should look for variation. Some may lack certain skills because they spend time gaining others. How ever employers choose their criteria for new hires they must be open to new skill and people that can add value and expertise.
