INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure
I knew when I read the title of this article I was going to like it. In life, you have to have a positive outlook on things. Failure is such a negative word. However, when you call them "clinical trials" instead, it sounds much better. If you really think about it, failures can be called mistakes. You can learn from them and try again. Its like a science experiment. You have to have trial runs. If something doesn't play out like it should, its not a failure - the experiment is just repeated. The 606 medication is a perfect example. Although it took 606 attempts to get it right, he finally did. Failures are simply clinical trials.

I agree with Sandor's view on failure when he said ,"Leadership and inventive activity require the perspective of clinical trials as opposed to success or failure." We must keep a positive mindset when it comes to failure. If all opportunities were easy then many people would take advantage of them. Failure is not the end, it just means that another plan and strategy must be taken to succeed. I believe in some ways failure makes the successful outcome even better in regards to the product created and/or self esteem. Failure can mean the end if we let it.

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing as Failure
Failure should not be the end of the road. You may not succeed on your first try at something, but if you never try those extra times, you will definitely never succeed. If you are determined to do something or get somewhere, odds are you will fail at least once. However, you must accept failure and learn from it. As Thomas Edison stated, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” The next time you try, you will know what not to do. That will help you narrow it down and get things correct.

As stated in the article, just because the outcome may not have been the most desirable does not make it a failure. The only way it becomes a failure is if it is given up on. You always gain something out of a failure that can be used as a tool toward a more successful outcome. Just like compound 606, every time the correct result was not achieved something new was learned about the compound to get it to it's correct outcome.

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure
Realizing that failure is not an obstacle or the end of a project is important when trying to reach your goals. Using the Compound 606 was a great example. The creator even incorporated his 606 "failures" into his product name. This shows that there is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to failure, because in the end, when you have reached your goal or acquired your successful "image", no one will be concerned with how many tries it took you to get there. Trial and error is sometimes the only way to come up with the most effective way to run your business or execute your goals.

I agree with the author. The only reason something can be considered a failure is if the person that failed uses it as a reason to give up. If he or she keeps trying, then the previous "failures" or no more than lessons on what to do differently. It has everything to do with the person's motivation. These days, it is so easy to just give up when something gets difficult, but the people that persevere are the ones that will be successful. If you believe in something enough, you should never give up because you failed to reach the goal the first try. You should never let obstacles get in the way of the goals you want to achieve. "Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." - Winston Churchill

I think think that one can fail, but one still can not quit. Quitting, because of a failure is when one really has failed. I believe one can fail hundred time but if you don't have the drive to keep trying then you will fail. This can help in the future to remind you that failing is not an option and even if you do fail don't quit because it not the end of the world. Failinure is also something that other people view differently, what seems to be important to one may not be to another.

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure
Once we realize that failure will take place, we are one step closer to achieving our goal. Failing is part of the process and should be looked at as a learning experience. With failure, we learn another way something doesn't work. Although it didn't work that way, doesn't mean there isn't a way to make it work. Once we accept that failure is okay and it is not the end of the road, we are on the right track. There is always something to be learned after failing to do something right, we just have to be willing to learn.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Tell Your Employees To Collaborate Without Showing Them How
Telling your employees to do something without ever showing them how or not explaining to them does not get ones company anywhere. Especially when collaborating in the workplace it is important for their to be leadership. The company boss has to be able to lead and show their employees how to collaborate and communicate in order to get the job done. This could help in the future by having better collaboration in ones company by having conference calls and leading by example.

I don't think I really agree with the sentiment of this article. As long as you stay strong and stay willing and don't give up when something doesn't work the first time, you have an opportunity to make it better. Failure is possible in every business venture, invention, new product, and every other aspect of the business. Lessons are learned from failures and the failure presents an opportunity to make the business or product better than it was in the first place.

I'm going to go off the limb and say this, "there is failure, but the one who don't give up and keep pushing will overcome failure." Like I said in the previous article, failure is a good thing because it separate the strongest from weakest. The weak people will give up but the strong people will keep pushing until failure is no more. Failure is a time period which you can "control." You can make it long or short, it's up to you.

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure
Failure is very real. How one processes and interprets a failure is how is perceived. Many people perceive failure as a negative occurrence, so that word automatically has a negative connotation to it. Changing ones perception of failure can absolutely chain their direction in life. I often question, though, if how a person perceives failure and negativity is built into their DNA. Some people are just positive in every way, and very optimistic. Whereas, others are pessimistic even when the sky is blue and the weather is perfect. We are in control of our perceptions but a person MUST make a conscious choice to change. This article makes me wonder if I would continue an effort after 605 “failures.” That, my friend, is commitment!

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure
A common thing amongst industrious individuals is a drive to succeed. Often though, people get bogged down by failures and quit. Instead business people must try even harder. It is necessary to not become discouraged, and instead keep working at your goals. The example describes compound 606, as in the inventor failed 605 times before finally landing on the life saving drug he set out to make. Perspective allows us to view would-be failures, as just a stepping stone, or a clinical experiment. This philosophy fosters creativity which is great and tends to result in more positive results than creators who attempt to focus on making no missteps.

I really like the way the author views failure as a "clinical trial" instead of an excuse to give up. I feel this is an extremely motivational article for anyone in the business world and for all others, in all aspects of life. If we raise our own kids with this philosophy, the next generation will be much more successful and not so quick to look for that immediate gratification that so many in our society look for today. It's easy to want to just give up and quit after you've failed at something, and it's a lot harder to get back up and try again. However, if we all adopt this philosophy of never quitting, we'll develop a terrific self-concept and prove to ourselves and others that we CAN achieve our goals-----even with a few obstacles in the way.

INSTANT MBA: There Is No Such Thing As Failure As the author puts it "there is not such thing as failure" I do think that failure is something that you put into yourself it is what you believe, if you see yourself as a failure then you are a failure. People who are successful also had some failure at one point, but they never let the failure discourage them. Though is is hard to try something 605 times this article teaches us that those you try will one time success.Just like a runner in order to be successful it takes years of hard work and pain. I believe that No gain no pain is a true saying.
