INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
A good manager must be capable of dealing with issues and fix them in a timely manner. I believe the essence of this article is to advise that leaders should not panic when a messy problem arises. Negative unexpected events can happen, and managers should embrace the fact that there is nothing they can do to prevent some issues. Therefore, they need to calm down and find the best way to resolve the mess by using the appropriate resources. Also, organizations should have contingency plans for most cases, so the impact of certain problems does not greatly affect the operation of the business. Finally, employees should be properly trained to work alongside managers to deal with unexpected obstacles and mess.

Instant MBA: Go Ahead and Embrace the Mess
As I read this article one particular quote came to mind, “Everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain. But you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain." As a leader, you must understand that eventually the business world will get messy, but it won’t be that way forever. Sometimes the answers to the mysteries aren’t as clear as you want them to be, and the only other option is to go through it blind sighted until the answer becomes clear. This article is pretty much self-explanatory. Embracing the fact that your business is going to face tough times, and sometimes you won’t know the answer to every default. But quitting is not an option, you have to keep going until you make it threw, because as a leader everyone is depending on you to pull them through this tough time. You won’t be able to fix every spill, and it takes a strong manager to understand that. This article was very realistic.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
As a manager you must be able to work through the challenging times just as effectively as you would if everything was going as planned. As the article states, life isn't predictable, no matter how prepared you may be. Every business encounters some type of obstacles. Managers should not panic when things get messy, because if the managers are panicking of course the employees will panic. Yes, you and your employees will become overwhelmed at times, but as a manager you should embrace these obstacle and find a way to overcome them quickly and effectively.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
There will be times in business where a mess will be difficult to clean up. You must embrace that things like this will happen in business, and it is a true test of a good leader if they can get themselves out of it. I believe that a good company can pull through the mess when it is addressed immediately and handled in the right manner.

INSTANT MBA: If You Take Your Business Too Personally, It May Be Hard To Expand
Many business owners fall into this catogory and take their business personally. This will limit your expansion. Surround yourself with great leaders/staff and letting go will be easier. On the other hand, some owners have no idea what's going on in their business. This leaves room for disaster. Owners must balance control of a company very carefully. They must be involved buy not over controlling. So find the balance and maintain it, this could be your best quality as a business owner.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
Sometimes things won't go your way in life. It's how you react when things are going wrong that shows what kind of person you are. When things go wrong in the workplace, as a leader, you must be able to stay calm and keep your employees moving forward. If you show panic, then your employees will act the same. However, if you stay calm, your employees will see that you have everything under control and will install trust in them. It is sometimes good to embrace the mess, because in the end, it could end up teaching you something you never knew before.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
Being able to “embrace the mess” is a fancy way of saying, deal with it. As a manager, your job consists of managing the “mess”. Learning to love the “mess” allows for a manager to be able to reduce complexities by making it easier for an employee to complete certain procedures. It also allows for a manager to introduce predictable measures that employees can use to increase production.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
Embracing the mess of a job is the worst thing that could happen to an individual. For example, at work, we have been in a bind the past few years. Our boss is up for promotion, but cannot seem to find another store to run. We know the closing date of the current location we are working at. Life is not pleasant. There is no certain future, yet we keep working. But when people tell you that they are searching for new jobs, what are you suppose to do? The pressure is there and there is nowhere near a certain future for any of us.

I think that if someone has a lot of patience and an extremely positive attitude then it is much easier for that person to 'embrace the mess'. It's just not an easy thing for everybody to do. When there is an overwhelming amount of work to do most of us get angry and swear and want to throw something; we're not gonna have a positive and welcoming attitude when this happens.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess" I think that embracing the mess is the best way to handle bad situations because obviously they will occur. The owner of a business or manager knows that things will not always be going smoothly and that eventually their luck will run out so having some sort of plan for these types of events is never a bad thing. Preparing mentally is just as important in these situations because if you've prepared yourself mentally for a situation then when it comes it won't be a surprise. Leaders that aren't mentally strong will probably break down when work piles up or things turn for the worse

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
No matter how intent on work one is, anyone will lose focus if left to sit around and wait for a longg time. As people lose focus, it gets worse and worse until no one has any idea what to do with themselves anymore. It would be best to avoid this, just by giving everyone a general direction to work toward. In times of struggle, just give workers something, anything, to do and they will do it and do it well, and their focus will come back better when an actual objective shows back up.

I think that it is a good practice for leaders to reduce complexity and ensure that their employees have predictable job task. Like the article stated this can increase productivity. But in business there are going to be road blocks and unpredictable events that occur. As a leader you need to set the stage for your employees when this occurs. I have experienced this in my current job. We were working on a project and the company changed what they wanted done mid way through the project. My supervisor set the stage for me and my fellow co-workers and helped reduce the stress of the sudden change.

INSTANT MBA: If You Take Your Business Too Personally, It May Be Hard To Expand
Business is just that, Business. I understand how hard it can be to let go of the reigns when it was your blood, sweat, and tears that brought your company to where it is. Look at it from a different angle. Say "I DID IT! All my hard work finally paid off and I'm so successful I cant do it on my own anymore!" It would be a shame for all that hard work to go to waste because you were too proud to let others in.

INSTANT MBA: Go Ahead And "Embrace The Mess"
While leading an organization, there is no doubt that there will be times that the problem ahead seems unpredictable and impossible. These are the times that will truly define a leader. It is important to develop a plan at times like these and have milestones to define progress. When faced with these large problems, it is extremely important to develop a plan and remember to check this progress along the way and make any needed adjustments.
