Being transparent is hugely beneficial when it is not required for you to remain silent. There are some times when people simply can't be told why they are accomplishing a certain task, but if your business does not require it, what reason is there to Not be transparent? I imagine most would say for job security, but a manager is much more secure in his position with a team of highly motivated, educated, and committed employees working with him to solve problems intelligently. that requires them to be in the loop.

INSTANT MBA: Be A Transparent Leader, Not A Mysterious One
I agree with the article as a good leader is transparent. Having people know the reasons behind decisions you make is important to those under you. Transparency would help managers build a closer relationship with their employees and vice-versa. As a leader you need to be able to take in what other people say and respond in a positive way if you want your business to to be something special.

I believe that it is important for a leader to be somewhat transparent because you do not want to be so predictable. You want your team members to trust you and build a relationship with you but you do not want them to get over on you. I believe that as a leader you also need to have model behavior so that your team members should model behind you.

I agree with Dorie Clark about not being a mysterious leader, but I am not sure about being a transparent leader. You want people to notice how great a leader you are and how you manage your team. You can gain employees respect and protect against corporate mistakes without being a transparent leader.

Is grateful to be a leader and also be able to show your skills everyday. Being a great leader you show the opportunities that can be made to serve the endeavors of your job. With great leadership skills you will always have a transparently of getting the employee probably could make it so much easier and not so humbling the employee.

It is better to appear as a transparent leader rather than one that no one knows anything about. You can illustrate transparency through one on one conversations, speeches, and communication. Through this, there will be less confusion between you and other people and you will be respected. Instead of giving off a “you never know” persona, you’re more “what you see is what you get” and that goes along better with people.

INSTANT MBA: Be A Transparent Leader, Not A Mysterious One
During the tough economic times, it is to be expected layoffs will happen. Transparent leaders are straight forward and are likely to tell the employees how it is, but in a friendly, open way. As a manager, if you can gain employees' respect and attract like minded talent, your company will make an incredible impact in the market. People want to work for a company that has an employer that is not threatening. With employee's that WANT to work for you and a thriving product within the industry, layoffs wont happen. It is important to be a transparent leader so people are able to relate to you and feel comfortable.

As a leader it is important for the people under you to know what you stand for. The more they know you and why you do things the way you do, the more apt they will be to carry out the tasks they are assigned to. If you are just a mysterious leader, the people on your team will question your actions more because they do not understand the thought process. The more relatable you can be to your team the more they will be able to help you and this provides for a better end product. Your team needs you to be transparent so that the goal can be achieved.

INSTANT MBA: Be A Transparent Leader, Not A Mysterious One
I personally wish that all bosses and managers were more transparent. Sometimes it I so difficult to tell what they want or if you are doing something wrong or if you are doing something right. Managers need to be able to be transparent so that their employees know what is expected of them. Things in the business just run smoother when everyone understands what everyone else wants and understands what they need to do. However, in many cases I feel that managers are about as clear as mud. They are not good at explaining things, but it is important to try to learn and improve on this to become a better manager.

Transparency is very important in a business environment because your employees need to see how you think. When in a business employees always are thinking what you as a manager is going to do next. When employees have a good idea of that they are going to be more efficient. Your company will be profitable in doing this.

INSTANT MBA: Be A Transparent Leader, Not A Mysterious One
The author has a point when stating that transparency is a benefit in the business world. Charisma is definitely an aspect that many managers and business owners desire, but it's often the boss who is "true" to his employees,or the one who shows his true colors and in sincere that is the boss most want to work for. I'd much rather work for someone who is predictable, someone who I know what to expect from each and every day, than for one who is charismatic but unpredictable. People tend to see mysterious bosses as untrustworthy---whether that's true or not----so it seems reasonable to believe that transparent leaders would be more successful than mysterious ones.

In a business environment your employees are more often times led by example. Starting with the head of the company, the leader, they should show themselves to their staff through some means to let them know that they are there doing whatever it takes for the business and employees. It would embolden everyone when they know who their leader is and that they are playing an active role in the business.

I would think being a charismatic leader would be a good thing. If you are charismatic, your workers will see your passion and likely follow. I think the trust from your employees would develop as well. Although I think being a charismatic leader isn't a bad thing, I think being a transparent leader can be a good thing too. Earning your workers respect is important and attracting like-minded people to your company is a good thing too.

Dorie Clark's article talks about succession made harder by a mysterious personality. While in business you sell yourself everyday. Selling yourself starts with your personality and ability to adapt to the changes in others personalities. When you can impress people in higher management with your personality you could create job promotions. With a great personality and great job performance you should move up the ladder.

INSTANT MBA: Be a Transparent Leader, Not A Mysterious One.
When a leader is transparent, they have a better chance than a leader who is not. Being transparent can help a employee to be trusted. It helps others believe in your word and trust that what you say you are doing is actually what you are doing. They learn to respect you because you are honest and you are real. When someone has respect and trust in someone they are willing to help out at any point because they feel like the favor would be returned if needed. When a person is transparent they allow others to truly figure out the type of person they are and this is important.
