INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
Worrying about stuff that has no affect on you or your business is a waste of time and energy. When looking at what you think you need to do, determine what needs to be done and what doesn't. Making extra work for yourself doesn't help anyone. Causing more unnecessary work for your employees will only make them angry and keep them from doing what they're supposed to be doing. Figure out what needs to be done and let the other stuff go. Just cause its been there for years, doesn't mean it needs to stay there.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
I haven't been a manager before, but this applies to everyday life too. I own a house, and two cars with a yard and a flower bed, etc. There are always things to do, always things that need to be done. But, some of these things are more important than others, and some aren't even really plausible at this certain time. But, if I don't make this distinction between plausible and not plausible, soon enough I'll be so overloaded that every task seems impossible, and no task gets done.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
As a manager I always encourage my employees to avoid doing pointless or redundant tasks in order to make their lives less stressful. If they are not stressing about meaningless points, then they are more focused on the important tasks at hand, and therefore more productive. A lot of the ways the company suggests employees complete a tasks involves unnecessary steps, that only make the job harder. Rather than always doing things correctly or in adherence to company standard, I feel it is more important to do things efficiently.

This is the whole point of having a great team in place. In everyone is in place pulling their own weight than you should never get overwhelmed. I know it is hard because it is yours, but let go!

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
When I first started working at my job, I was overwhelmed with the amount of paper we kept and the amount of time it would take to find things through all the paper. Also, "paperless" was a buzz word around the office as well. I was the person in charge or organizing, filing, and storing these mounds of papers. I was also in charge of finding a document when it was needed. So I began scanning docs and storing them on the network server, but also keeping the hard copies. Then I began to throw away the old docs after so many months of them being stored. Now instead of printing/coping 3 copies of one document (one for the customer, one for customer file, and one for my file). I only print out the customers copy then I scan it and save it to its proper place. Since revaluating how to process the paperwork I freed up literally hours each day and now it is doesn't take 30 minutes of thumbing through pages to find something. So reevaluating your tasks, changing processes, or doing away with unnecessary tasks is great for the company and the employees' work mental health. Then they will be able to focus on things that are more important.

INSTANT MBA: Be Brutally Honest When You Fire Your Employee
Business is business. There is nothing pleasant about having to fire someone so there is no need to sugar coat it. That will only make you look like you doubt your decision, and that is a time when there needs to be absolutely no doubt in you. Keep it simple, keep it short, get it done.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
I can appreciate where this article comes from because I am a perfectionist myself. I often want to go back and complete a task simply so I can check it off my list of things to do. Even when sometimes I know some of those things are no longer relevant. This is good advice that should be taken into careful consideration. If it isn't benefiting the company, then it is no longer necessary to worry about.

Personally, I only can do certain jobs for a certain amount of time; in other words, I always like to be learning new things, and when I get the feeling that I have learned everything I could from my current job, I just want to take on new challenges. Leaders and managers should foster this idea and encourage their employees to leave the comfort zone and assume new tasks and assignment that will make them progress in their careers.Telling them exactly why they are being fired will give them answers to why and I hope can help them improve for the next job. Some people are just not made for certain jobs, so being honest with them at the firing process can be a benefit.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
Many people go in to work everyday with the dreaded thought of doing the same thing over and over- it does have to be that way. If you feel like you have too much on your plate then eliminate some of the things you have to do. If it is not necessary then why do you do it over and over every day? For example, if you vacuum your house everyday then you probably are tired of vacuuming your house. Will anyone notice if you don't vacuum for a day or two? If the answer is no then skip a day or two. Eliminating vacuuming from your everyday routine can get you out of your boring everyday routine.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything One Your Plate Needs To be There
This is a great article. Its super important as a manager, business owner, employee, even a student to make sure that your to do list stays short and sweet, and not to be overwhelmed. Doing the tedious things that people are not going to notice should not stress you out as much as the bigger projects. Learning to prioritize is very important in any aspect of life.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything One Your Plate Needs To be There
Deciding which issues are important and which ones can be swept under the rug can be vital business decisions in the long run. Having too much going on at one time can overwhelm you and your employees, and eventually wear you out. You have to pick the issues that need immediate attention, and forget the rest for now. Too many things on your plate at one time causes unneeded stress for your company, and is detrimental in the long run.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
This article makes perfect sense if there are things that are no longer relevant to the topic on hand then the should not be there. I myself am guilty of doing this sometimes i try to fix things that are no longer relevant. I tend to spend time on these tasks and they take away from the situations that are present and will set me back.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
I have seen what this article points out, in action. I had a boss that had too much on her plate. She was so used to not having the right help and doing everything herself, that she didn't know how to revaluate and let things go. She was doing so much that, some important things weren't getting done and the things that were getting done were not done to the full extent of her ability. She was finally forced to give up some of her responsibility because of this and she was relived when she did. She passed along some duties and was able to focus her energy on more important tasks.

INSTANT MBA: Not Everything On Your Plate Needs To Be There
A clogged-up to-do list bogs people down with items that are obsolete. I keep a to-do list every week, and try to update it at least once a month, preferably biweekly. This allows me to stay current with my items needed to be completed, while also getting rid of duties that are either not done in our section, are not done by me anymore, or that are obsolete. I am also able to show my managers the progression from month to month on items I have completed or passed on to someone else.
