INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
In every discipline, two people can complement each other in terms of knowledge and skills. we need to be open minded and accept the fact that we don't know everything. I have personally dealt with people who are stubborn; even though I consider them to be smart and proactive, they lack of an essential trait: listen to others. More than one thing we can learn from others, and we need to be willing to listen to expand our knowledge and social skills. This is even more important in a business setting because in an organization there will always be diverse people with different backgrounds, knowledge, and preparation. We need to admit that someone else may know more than us, so we can learn, and this is key to progress and succeed in our careers.

Instant MBA: Put Your Ego Aside and Realize That You Don’t Know Everything Everyone has an ego, but the knowledge of knowing when to turn it off and on seems to be hard for many to conquer. Sometimes it is in your best interest just to listen to what others have to say. No talking. I say this because; maybe at the end of it all you will learn something. Sure, you may be the top sales person, but listening to other people’s input (with no objections) may mold you to be far more superior to what you are. Thinking you know it all and that your way is the only right way is foolish. Carrying an ego around will do nothing but hurt your business in the long-run.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
No one person knows everything! As a manager it is definitely important to be able to put your ego aside and listen to others that know more than you. Listening more than you speak can benefit you and your company. Even if you believe you are good at something there is nothing wrong with listening to someone else who also possesses those skills. Being a "know it all" will not be beneficial at all. I think it is very important to surround yourself with smart people that you can learn from. As stated in the article, the people you know are often the key to success.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
Putting your ego aside and realizing that you can learn from others is a step to being successful, like many others that we are learning. Surrounding yourself with people who have different talents is what allows your knowledge base to grow and expand. Everyone looks at situations differently and allowing that to benefit you rather than to tear you down will give you success later down the road. Knowing when to listen and when to talk is something all humans need to learn.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
In business, you want to know a lot about what you are doing. You don't want to come off as a know it all and make yourself seem above everyone. If you really want to be a good leader, you have to put your want for control aside. I know a lot of managers that have trouble keeping their egos at bay. Not only would they show their ego, they would justify themselves to the point where they know everything and that just by questioning them is questioning their intelligence.

INSTANT MBA: Your Customers Like The Sound Of Their Own Names
This simple gesture makes customers feel important. It takes very little effort to add a name when greeting a patient, or when talking on the phone to a customer, hearing their name makes them feel appreciated. It adds a personal human touch to a world that is so automated. Many customers want personal attention and simply using their names in conversation accomplishes this.

INSTANT MBA: Your Customers Like The Sound Of Their Own Names I like this article be I think it’s a hard task for many managers to follow. Managers want to feel as if they are always needed and know what to do when a problem occurs, even if they really don’t. I was at a store once and there was a problem going on at the front desk. The manager, who clearly didn’t know what he was doing, was trying to fix it instead of listening to the other employee. Finally the manager stepped aside and the employee fixed it easily. I think this is a challenge for managers to step aside because if someone else can do it better than them then the manager might get replaced.

Alt link 68: INSTANT MBA: Your Customers Like The Sound Of Their Own Names The problem with large corperations is that individual consumers don't think that they are being cared for. However something personal like a sales person taking time to help an individual or an office sending out a signed birthday card can speak volumes to a customer.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
It is not very easy for a manager to set aside their ego and realize the truth in a given matter. The job of a manager entitles them to the operations of all business instruments available in order to do the best job possible. The quality of business is dependent upon the manager. Managers become emotionally attatched to their businesses. If their business model has been successful for years and begins to decline, it is hard for them to set aside their ego that has been built by success and realize its flaws. Being able to overcome this is important because a manager who cannot set aside their ego in a situation like this is likely to cause issues within the company.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
I wish that my newly hired boss would read this article. He has come into our restaurant and tried to change the way we do everything. The quarter before he started, we ranked number one in our company. Since his arrival, we have dropped tremendously. He does not allow us to give any input and believes that he knows best when it comes to everything. What he doesn't realize, is that we have been doing the job and doing it well for a very long time, so we have lots of great ideas. He is going to end up running our restaurant into the ground because his ego is becoming too big to fit through the front door.

It is important to know your own personal strengths and weakness. This will help you grow as well as build a team of employees that complement your strengths and weakness. The article is correct when it says that one person can not know everything. This is important for leaders to acknowledge and be aware of. You must take pride in what you are good at and admit to what you are not good at. This will help you be more successful by having employees that are good at the things that you are not good at. This will also help people see you as a true leader by being able to see you as equal.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
I absolutely agree with this article. Just because you've been able to successfully start a business doesn't mean that you're a world conqueror. You need to have people who are professionals in their fields and you need to listen to them because they probably know more about that particular thing than you do. Sure the final decision is your choice but you need to hear what other people have to say in order to make the correct final decision.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
It is extremely important to remember that each of your team members bring a special talent or skill and that you can never have all of the answers alone. Just this week, a co-worker and I were mentoring another co-worker as she was building a presentation for some work that we had supported her and her team through the process. One of the first things we told her on the presentation was that she needs to acknowledge each of the team members. This is very important, but it was also important during the process to remember that each of these team members brought a unique point of view and a unique skill.

INSTANT MBA: Put Your Ego Aside And Realize That You Don't Know Everything
Wow these article are starting to get extremely repetitive. Anyway, as a manager/owner it very important to stay grounded and to realize that you no better than anyone else. While you may be better at certain tasks than others, you’re certainly not better at EVERYTHING. Understanding this will allow you to hire and put together a tremendously better team than if arrogance would’ve gotten the best of you.
