INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
I think that as a manager/owner you must be humble about yourself. I think if you tell yourself “I can easily be replaced”, will keep you in check. Just because you may have a bigger role in the company, doesn’t mean that you a bigger or better person. This will not only allow for better ideas and opinions, it will keep your employees from thinking negatively about you or your work ethic.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
This seems like a really good idea. Power definitely goes to your head very quickly. As a leader or someone with power you must always be careful how you act. I worked for my uncle and my mother at two different times, and they both had the same issues at work: they both got short tempered and started micro-managing everything. Something about getting into their element of control at their prospective workplaces made them absolutely intolerable. And they had no idea anything was amiss when I mentioned it to them.

With great power comes great responsibility. This goes with business too. My manager has this issue, he thrives off the adrenaline that he gets when he tells people what to do and how to do it. I think it is sad but this happens. Some managers don't realize they are leaders, they just know they are bosses.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
I think it is imperative to a persons career as well as their life to be learn how you are being perceived by the people around you. It is even more important to not become defensive when someone tells you their what they think about you. To grow in the business world you need to be able to take criticism with grace then turn it into a learning experience. A couple of years ago at work I emailed a manager to ask a question about inventory for the close out of the month. We corresponded back and forth a few times and all of his responses in the email were all in caps lock. I thought I was annoying him because I perceived the all caps to be "yelling". So, I finally asked him if I was bothering him with all the inventory questions, this was the very first time I ever did inventory so I had TONS of questions. He replied, "No, not at all. Why would you think that?". I responded, "Well ALL CAPS is implied as yelling in the email, online world." He was shocked when I told him that. He had no clue that is what all caps beings when your online and was using the caps because it was easier for him to read. If I wouldn't have asked him nicely about the caps lock he would have continue to correspond like that with customers and other professional, giving the wrong perception of him. He was kind of embarrassed and thanked me for pointing it out to him.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Be Stubborn And Change Course If Necessary
Its definitely important to have a plan and to try to stick to it as much as possible, but this is life and there will always be wrenches thrown in that plan. Your ability to adjust will speak volumes more than having everything just go your way. If the end result is the same it sometimes doesnt matter what road you took to get there as long as you make it.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
Through my own work experience I have found this to be an important topic. I used to always say, don't forget where you came from. Before you became a supervisor you know how things made you feel. Always try to treat people with the same respect you would want to be treated with. When you give respect to others, they will in turn give respect to you.

I believe this will help any manager become an even better manager, colleague, and leader. Employees can also benefit from what their managers and coworkers really think about them. This is why it is very important to evaluate managers and employees on a daily basis so that both managers and employees will have an insight on what needs to be improved and what they are doing well so they may continue to grow and improve. After reading this article, I really began to think about how imperative it is to listen to how others view me. That is not to say that I care if someone judges me, but maybe the provided feedback can show me what type of person I am really portraying to be. Beers testimony should be an eye opener for an abundance of people, just because we feel like it’s supposed to be done that way or saw it done that way, doesn’t necessarily mean that is the correct way to do it. If you listen to what others have to say then maybe you will be able to learn the behaviors that should be accompanied for that particular position.

Sometimes when we are giving a leadership position we tend to forget how to be an effective leader. It is a good idea to know what your coworkers think about how you are being a leader. Knowing the truth about how your coworkers feel about you can help you change to be a better leader for the business.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
Knowing how others feel about you and being able to realize and correct your flaws is an important quality for leaders to possess. If you can get honesty out of a coworker or employee, and take their criticism constructively rather than to heart, you can really correct your flaws become a better leader. Having an open and honest work place where everyone can out their own opinions out there, without being too demeaning, of course, can make everyone more comfortable and enjoy their jobs that much more.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
For young managers and inexperienced managers I think that this is a great article. Being new at a job, or getting a promotion can make communicating difficult. Its important to keep open lines of communication with your employees and coworkers incase you ever become too overbearing or display the wrong actions. In the position I am, I am managing my friends as well as other people my age, and sometimes I can be a little forward with my words and actions and it is something that I have had to tone down, and coach my team rather than come on as rude or like I am unhappy with their performance.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You In order to be a great leader you should have an understanding of how employees view you. Leaders should know each employee and understand how they feel about the business. A leader should give orders in polite manner and be able to take questions. If the leader is rude and does not open themselves for questions then employees will resent them.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
It is very important to get the opinions of others on how you manage. You may actually be surprised on what you learn. As a manager, I have been doing less around my restaurant because my boss does not appreciate or notice that I am getting things done. Because I have slacked off and become discouraged, it has affected my management style. We had a crew captain meeting recently that I did not attend and one of my crew members told me that everyone agreed I don't help out on the shift anymore. This was a slap in the face for me because it was never my intention to hurt the crew by backing off on the things I held myself responsible for. It is important that you take a look at yourself from the eyes of your employees because I guarantee that you will ind something out about yourself that you never saw before.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
Managers tend to ignore how they treat people when they become managers, because they have a “perfect way” to manage people ingrained in their brain by a previous boss. To make sure that the manager treats employees the way she wants to project, it is quite helpful to get input from coworkers and employees if anything bothers them or needs to be changed. This advice from coworkers allows the manager to grow and possibly bring the business to higher levels.

INSTANT MBA: Know What Your Coworkers Really Think About You
It very important to connect with your employees on that level. As a leader, you should value how your employees feel about your decisions. You should want feedback from them so that you can become better at what you do. The toughest thing to do is to critique yourself, and having an open and honest relationship with employees really works wonders.

This link is an extension of "don't be rude to your staff members". Getting direct, honest feedback from your coworkers should be an enjoyable decision, because you should be able to take that feedback in a constructive way. if you need to change your behavior, do it Before it becomes a problem in the workplace that affects productivity. The only reason managers project bad aura's of authority is self consciousness. That is a personal problem and it should have no place in a working environment.
