INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
Nice article. I think that if you must get the back-of-the-house running correctly in order to increase customer satisfaction. After all, you can’t give good customer service if the product you are selling isn’t produced correctly. While it is extremely to focus on customer support, knowing the in’s and out’s of your business could have a tremendous overall impact on everything that your business does.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
In a service industry, it can be hard to remember that there is more to the game than pleasing customers. As important as that may be, it can't be the only focus. When that happens, they back end of things start to suffer, and that will eventually mean that the customers will see the issues as well. So, in the long run, the best thing to do would be to make sure that the behind the scenes stuff is working well so that you can interact well with the customers, and the customers will be happy. In my experience, customer service is important, but customers will always see any disorganization or other problems behind the scenes.

The success of starbucks speaks for itself, however hiring employees that are higher than your company can be a costly idea. Especially is this is done at the outset of a new business. In my opinion, you need a good front office and high end management. Let everyone else follow suit.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
I think not the idea of not spending all your time on your customers is hard for managers to do. One reason is because the managers are hired to make sure that the company is making money. To make money you need customers and to make even more money you need happy customers. But to have a successful business it takes more than just customers. You must have the right team of people working for you first or you won't have any customers. It is also important to invest in employees who have potential and encourage them to broaden their skill set or education. In the end it will help your company as well.

INSTANT MBA: Everyone Needs To Take A Break
Being a complete perfectionist I understand how hard it is to just step away from something sometimes when its not done. Its hard leaving something incomplete, but it is totally true that more times than not if I just step away for a while and focus on something else when I come back to it, I'm refreshed and able to tackle whatever was causing me problems. Nothing productive ever comes from frustration and confusion.

Instant MBA: Stop spending all your time on Your Customers
Customers are a very important part of a business and what keeps a business open; however, losing sight of what makes the business run smoothly can be a problem. It is just as important to spend time making sure your methods run smoothly for servicing customers, as it is for waiting on customers themselves. Poor management skills can be the downfall of a business that is thriving. Leadership and what goes on behind the scenes is just as important for business.

An entrepreneur has to hire the most appropriate talent to build the organization. Also, managers need to nurture the skills of current employees, so they grow up personally and professionally within the company. For a firm to experience growth, employees and managers need to grow up along with it. In other words, employees are essential for the proper operation of the business, so the top managers should invest in training and keeping employees motivated. If a company focuses too heavily on customers, they can actually hinder their business. It's also important to be continuously developing your employees and hiring people to lead your team to success. It's important that companies constantly be looking for ways to grow and better their company as a whole and often times this will have nothing to do with the customer aspect of the business.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
Spending time on customers is a good thing, but sometimes it can hurt your business. If you want your business to be more successful then you need to do things differently. A good way to make changes is hire people who have knowledge that you and your employees don't have. If they have more knowledge then they can help you change things in your business to be successful. Changes are a good thing so you shouldn't be scared to take a risk and make changes.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
Customers are a very important aspect of your business because without them, there would be no business. But without your employees, there would also be no business. The employees who keep things running smoothly for your customers should be appreciated just as much, if not more, than your customers. You have to focus on hiring good people who have your best interest in mind, and keep them happy with their job in order for the business to run smoothly. After all, the most important resource in any business is human resources.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
While I think that without customers you have no business, the same goes for employees. Without them, your business is nothing. It is important to implement a good infrastructure and backing to your business so they can better carryout and display the goals, mission, and culture of your company. Plus, if you are always focused on the customer, you are missing opportunities to expand your business. There must be an even balance but as an owner you should focus on the background happenings, and let the employees handle the customers and customer service.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers Custimer services are very important to business, but they are not the only aspect. Yes i believe you should always build customer relations with them and be familiar with them but you also have to be aware of everything else that goes on. If you focus all your energy to customer service your production will decrease resulting in unhappy customers.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
Because it is the customers that bring in the money and pay the paychecks most business focus all of their energy on them. But it is important to consider also who takes care of the customers? Your employees and yourself. Your employees are the key to happy customers and a successful business. It is important that you focus just as much energy on them as you do your customers. Happy employees render so many positives, including better customer service and even more innovation.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
I think Schultz was not saying that a business owner should completely ignore customer relations, but that customer relations and corporate innovation are close to the same level of priority. To make sure the business does not get backed into a corner without room to grow or innovate, managers and the owner need to make it a priority to hire people that have experience in larger situations and arenas, then give the new hires the resources to make active change within the company structure. This, along with listening to customers’ needs, is how businesses grow.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
This article takes on an aspect of a management that I feel like many companies struggle with. By stating that the customer is always right or that the customer is the only thing that really matters, you are putting far less emphasis on your employees than you should. Employees are what get you the customers and are what keep customers. Customers are obviously very important, but you must take the time to put time into your employees as well.

INSTANT MBA: Stop Spending All Your Time On Your Customers
Its all about finding that perfect balance. As the author said sometimes not enough is spent on backside of the business. Both are equally important and finding the equation of the two that is optimal is the challenge at hand. You don't want to lose customers either, but you want to be ahead of the curve in innovation.
