INSTANT MBA: Ask The Right Questions If You Want To Innovate
Asking questions is the best way to learn new things and gain the knowledge one needs to perform their jobs. The important thing is to ask good questions from your employees, vendors and even customers. This allows for you to improve your performance based on the feedback you received. It is better to ask a question in order to obtain the correct information, rather than to make assumptions. Technology is constantly evolving and changing the way we do business. For this matter, it is important for us to accept these changes and embrace them. The changes in technology may be the basis for many questions which is understandable. I always ask questions at work if I am unsure of how to do something. It makes me feel more competent and experienced when I get answers that I need in order to go about my job. Sometimes it can be a disadvantage to ask too many questions because then your manager may feel you are unfit for the job or unable to execute jobs without constant supervision.

According to Browning, "Innovation with me starts with asking great questions. It's asking questions of our clients, of our professionals, of our vendors and then just really listening and figuring out what that means." He says the impact of technology really creates many opportunities for people to change the way they do business. It is essential for businesses to realize that the world is changing and be open to new ideas. By expanding the questions you ask, can open up needs that will make someone act differently.

"Ask the right questions if you want to innovate"
Questions can also help you think outside the box because you may be asking questions others aren't thinking about. Asking about somehting can help create new ideas for solving problems or creating new technologies. One thing I've learned through my courses is to never stop asking questions.

INSTANT MBA: Ask The Right Questions If You Want To Innovate
David made an interesting point when he said that innovation starts with asking good questions. In order to brainstorm we start with questions, so I can understand how innovation starts with questions. Innovation is the discovery of new ways and processes to achieve the ultimate goal of an organization. With that being said it makes sense to as questions in order to discover new ways to achieve a goal. By continually having an open mind to new ideas and questioning others' thought an organization could stay on the path of new discoveries through innovation.

INSTANT MBA: Ask The Right Questions If You Want To Innovate
David Browning has a good point by stating we should “broaden” the questions we ask. However, I would stress a better point of listening closely to the answers given to the questions we ask. So many times we ask a question but do not really hear what the person answers. Usually answers given to a question will include small nuggets of information we can pick up on or will give us leads into other questions. Asking is good but listening is better.

INSTANT MBA: Ask The Right Questions If You Want To Innovate
Questions should always be asked even if we do not have the immediate desire to innovate. By asking questions of others, we get a better understanding of how they feel about us and what we need to do to change that feeling for the better. Everything in business is always changing and we have to open to it and willing to question things. If we can do this, we should be able to figure out what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong.

Asking questions is very important. First, you must make employees, supervisors, suppliers, distributers, whoever you plan on asking questions to, feel like they are in an environment where their answer will be taken seriously and they will not be judged or ostracized for how they answer. Asking questions to all levels of employees will result in a variety of answers. This array of opinions will give managers insight to a variety of issues that need to be taken care of.
