this was a great article about business. Many people that own businesses get very busy or bogged down with managing the business. I believe that a good business owner has to be very innovative and creative. They are always looking for ways to stay ahead of the competition. Business owners should never lose their creativity. Business owners have to have that laser focus at all times. The business industry is constantly changing and businesses has to change with the industry.

INSTANT MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost I believe that in order to achieve anything, you must focus on it. Although too much focus is not necessarily a good thing. When you have a one track mind and you focus too much on what is in front of you, then you might not be able to see the big picture (what it was that you were trying to do in the first place). Also, people need to be interactive with other people sometimes. This interactivity gives you an actual person to bounce ideas off of. You might think that the great idea that you came up with would be very profitable, but other people might not think so. So it is better to run your thought by someone that is close to you. They might be able to add to your idea and make it better.

"When you focus too much on your business, creativity may be lost"
This speaks to me in quite a few ways. For starters, with a previous relationship. I was more focused on it than doing anything with my family and friends, thus alienating myself. The other instance is with my school work. I get so focused on studying and grades, that I miss out on life experiences because I'm stuck at home. It is very important to have a goal in mind and be determined to achieve it, but you don't need to "step on any toes" in order to achieve them. By only being focused on that, as the article states, you lose "external creative forces from daily life." You also only start to see things from one direction, instead of being able to see something from different directions/perspective.

I think this article hit home for me. I went in the business field to hopefully start a business, and now that graduation is fastly approaching, I feel like I lost my way. I lost the passion and drive along the way. Sure I want to lead but, through it all I forgot to live. In order to love what you do and incorporate new things, you have to be willing to live meaning experiment, try new experiences, taking in new ideas, gain motivation from others, and finding happiness. Often times, as business people, we get so swept up in the moment of trying to set the standard, being successful, and making the business prosper. Some people set aside family and friends, and the business becomes the number one priority. Is the result greater than the reward? Through it all, I’ve learned to create balance and relax a little because it all comes in due time.

Having laser focus is definitely needed through out life, but there also must be some type of balance. Isolated ones self from society to solely focus on the “prize” can lead to one becoming depressed or not really happy. When speaking on creativity, one must be able to apply experiences to his or her thoughts to fully be innovative. An artist cannot be an artist without going into the world without seeing and experiencing life. Many artistic thoughts derive from on the spot experiences, which is why artist carry sketchbooks with them wherever they go because usually they spark and idea in the middle of doing something. With proper balance “laser vision” can be extremely helpful, but without the proper balance, it can also cost you to lose out on life’s experiences.

I have always heard my mother say to my father to never bring his work home with him, this article makes that statement seem like it has some truth to it. I feel that people want to be perfect and have everything around them be perfect, which will never happen. I feel that you do need time to relax and think about nothing, hang out with friends or family to keep your mind fresh. I don't want to sound too 60's but let the world come to you don't sprint to it. If you work too hard nothing will be accomplished, all work and no play right?

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
The goal of this article is to advise business owners to not be blinded by too much ambition. Dedication and focus are essential tools for success in any business, but the catch is keeping a balance with personal life and professional accomplishments. In short, a combination of focus in the business with external activities will improve our ability to innovate and ultimately stay ahead of the competition.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I was able to relate to this article because i have taken over my fathers business and want to expanded it. I spend most of my time focusing on work and nothing else, trying to make it the best that it can be. Like the article said i become to laser focused and lose my vision and passion for the business. Some of the greatest ideas i have had was because of the help of friends and family. I constantly take home my work and stayed stressed out because of this. This article shows me that i need to be focused on my business, but sometimes to take a step back and breathe.

Focus is good but the problem is the business world is always changing which means we need inspiration and creativity to keep ahead of the competition. "Lazer" focus will eventually lead us to be out dated and can hurt us in the long run. Having focus and direction is good, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to go off the path if it means staying ahead of the competition. Focus can keep us on the maturity stage of the organizational life cycle but if we're not careful, could lead us to the decline stage.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
It is important to focus on your goal, but at the end of the day you should not lose sight of the other influences around you. Having tunnel vision keeps you from others ideas and suggestions that can help you become more innovative in your own business. Successful people need to have a support system to keep from being isolated, which can cause emotional issues such as depression.

Life experiences do teach us a lot and best of all we are able to take these life experiences and apply them to the business world. Life experiences show us so much. For those who have children how many times have you used ideas you put in place for your children at work. We have to take a step back and have fun as well. Work is good but you have to remember that all this work is so we can have a great life. So we can go on trips with our families and have a great time.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
This article discusses the importance of not having a “laser focus”. Those who become “laser focused” miss out on reality and everyday living which could very well help in creativity. It is important to be focused on a job and its outcome but one must not become so focused they become isolated. I feel that my family and friends are my main supporters and if I turned my back on them to focus on a career, I would lose that support and also lose the creativity that comes from everyday experiences with them.
