I definitely have a boss that is all business, all the time. One of my jobs has the potential for a very fun and lively atmosphere for the employees, however he is strict with following the books and nothing is ever a joke to him. Every once in a while, it is important to let everyone kind of relax for a minute and not constantly think money, money, money. I think that bosses that allow their employees opinions to be heard are much more well off because their employees feel heard and important, making them more happy with their jobs.

Instant MBA "When You Focus Too Much on Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost"
I think that being focused on a goal is good but to an extent. I agree with the article that if you focus on something to much, you will isolate yourself from your family and friends. I have seen people who are so involved in their work and they finally realize one day that they have lost their marriage and children. It is important to have a balance between family and work.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
There is often a very fine line to walk in between working too much into your business and not working hard enough. It is necessary for you to relax your mind off of the day to day monotony so that you can refocus on the vision and passion you have for business. I find myself getting caught up in the motions often in my business and I forget about how important and valuable that my work is. When I look back I know that if I keep my vision and focus at the forefront that the day to day operations will even be better!

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much on Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost.
This article demonstrates the idea that laser focusing on your business or career can actually harness your success. It is important to allow time for your family and friends, those who support you through your business ventures. Becoming over consumed in a project can result in a loss of vision and becoming burnt out quickly. Once a business becomes overwhelming and time consuming to the point where you don't enjoy your job, it may be time to take a step back and focus on yourself as much as you do the business.

Being focused on your work isn’t bad, but being laser focused is. It’s not good to focus everything around work. It becomes very stressful, and being stressed messes with your health. I have a friend that just had a baby, and she is the baby’s mother and father. Instead of letting her family help her, she work two stressful jobs. She was so focused on working she slowly stopped eating and sleeping. And one day she had a panic attack. Being able to focus on work is a skill, but don’t overdo it because it can be harmful.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
Focusing on your company to make it better is always important. It shows you care about your company and want it to be successful, but alienating your family and friends while focusing on your company can harm your business. Having outsiders’ opinions about what to do next is probably better in the long run. The saying goes "the more, the better." The more opinions and ideas you have, the better. Of course you probably won't implement every idea into your company, but other people will see things differently than you and those ideas may work better for your company. In my opinion, getting ideas from everyone would benefit your business more than just a laser focus to make only your ideas work.

I think that it is definitely necessary to allow one's self to be able to take breaks from work/projects/company's. If that is all you do day in and day out all sense of self is lost and your day become more monotonous. As the article says, if you are dealing with the same things over and over you lose the creative outlet that comes with other activities. You receive no inspiration and your work takes over your life.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost This article remain me of high school and what i learn is exactly as in this article. To cut the story short, i want to a boarding high school. There were students who all the to is study, i mean study to late night wake up at dawn and study. But they never did as good as one could expected. Then there were this group of students they watch movies weekends, read novels and have fun and of course study and they did exception well. This students were very creative and very knowledgeable with what is going on around them. Since then i try as much as possible to do something extra, like joking/running with friends, check news almost every day, Facebook sometimes, they all help me to be a round minded person and I totally agree with the author.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
It is always a good thing to be focused, but being too focused could be harmful. It is important to remember what you want, what you are here for, and what your outcomes need to be, but becoming consumed by it can hurt more than help. Sometimes we need to take a step back and recalculate. Things are always changing and being involved in change is a good thing. We must sometimes take a little time off, enjoy life and what is offers us and then focus again with a fresh mindset. It is just as important to experience the life you live as it is to reach the goals you set. Determination is a great quality, but one can not block out the world to achieve just one thing.

When you are so focused on one thing, it becomes the subject of all of your thoughts. In business if you are focusing on one project and one way to finish the project, all other thoughts are put aside to deal with working on the project. The creative process and new ideas and new solutions are looked over when there is too much focus on one solution. New ideas come from experiencing new things, a different perspective on things helps to look at things in a different light and may be more efficient.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
It is totally necessary for a budding entrepreneur to not take on a "laser focus" approach to work. By blocking out external distractions, people become too internally driven and lose their creative spirit. It talked about how some large corporations actually hire creativity consultants, though that would be ludicrous for a young one-person firm to try. There has to be definite times set aside for work, and just as importantly, definite time set aside to go for a walk, to have a drink with your friends, to read a book. Never stepping back from the implications of entrepreneurship can lead to a burnout-and if you ignore your friends, family, and health along the way-a horrible surprise waiting for you after an inevitable failure.

I totally agree with this article. When you focus in on just job or project, you become isolated from your love ones and friend. This can cause bad relationships when them. It's also good to take break to free your mind. The only thing about that is to make sure you go back to doing whatever it was you were doing. But you should take breaks and hang out with friends and your love ones, "live a little." That's why I agree with this article 100%.

Instant MBA: When You focus too Much on Your Business, Creativity may be Lost
I agree fully with this article. I actually think this lesson can be applied to many things in life, whether it is focusing too hard on a school project, a sports career, a relationship, etc. Having an extreme amount of focus on one thing can limit your growth in other areas of your life. It is good to have diversity in your life and/or business. Also, by having too much focus on one thing, other opportunities and experiences may pass you by. It’s great to have a lot of drive and motivation to complete something, but everyone needs a break in order to give your mind a chance to refresh itself and gather new ideas.

There's an old saying that goes something like "All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy." The author of this article seems to have picked up on that philosophy as she states that her excessive focus on her business was actually hurting it more that helping it.....she lost her connections, her creativity, etc..... I agree that it's so important to find a balance between work and play (family, home life, friends) to maintain our own emotional and mental well being as well as our creativity to keep our career/business at it's best. We often hear about employee "burnout" in those who give their ALL to their jobs----pushing everything and everyone else to the back burner. I think that by following this author's advice, that can be prevented.

INSTANT MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be
It's important to focus, but when you focus on one particular thing for too long, you can easily stop seeing the other important things surrounding you. That's why you should always have a small time to reflect, when you feel as though something is lacking from your business, then you should take a step back, talk to someone who has been through this before, and find a more creative solution. You don't want your business to go under because you are working too hard. ^_^
