Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I think this article proves a very valid point and I can see this being a problem for myself in the future. Sometimes I get so caught up with my eyes on the prize, that nothing else matters. I have been working towards a promotion and graduating school with my business degree. This is all I work towards and dedicate myself to, and now because I never set aside any personal time for myself I realize that the only friends I have are the ones I work with. It definitely does hinder my creativity and desire to go on. I'm glad I learned this lesson now, that it's always important to make time for the things you love, instead of learning it later after it affected my own business and not just my work performance at someone else's business.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
Focus is definitely a key factor to success in most business ventures. With that said, creativity and innovation are also very important elements that must be worked into the business as well. Businesses that don't have this quality in the workplace will most likely not succeed. People get this inspiration from all sorts of things that is never thought of. Such as, just listening to the radio on the way to work can open up your mind and stimulate ideas without you even recognizing. So get out of the mind set that thinking of only work at all times will make the business as strong as it can be because without the creativity behind it, you will not go anywhere.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
This passage is the way I tend to feel at work during a large project. I catch myself straining to finish a portion of the project, and I start to get tunnel vision. When I catch it, I have to take a step back, possibly work on something else, or go grab a drink. If I am able to push the project to the next day, I feel much better, and definitely more creative and able to solve problems quicker. I could see, if I was a business owner, how a certain initiative could take over your life, and the creative juices quit flowing.

This type of situation is common but makes complete sense. A person must find balance to prevent themselves from being distracted too much, yet still allowing them to experience life and test the creative forces that comes with it. Sometimes focus is necessary to achieve specific goals, but at some point, everyone needs a break to recalibrate as stated in the article.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
Staying focused on what you are doing is a great thing. However, staying focused too much on a certain thing can sometimes be a bad thing. Everyone needs a break every once in a while. Stay focused on what you are doing, then set some time for yourself so you can relax and have some fun. Do not isolate yourself from others while trying to stay focused because you will need to walk away from what you are doing to refresh your mind. If you encounter a problem that you can't figure out how to solve, walk away and relax then try again. Sometimes it is best if you just put what you are doing down and stop thinking about it. When you start what you are doing again with a fresh start you will probably figure out what you were doing wrong.

I think that being too involved with just business related things can be harmful. You must realize you live for other things also. It is really easy to get caught up in your business and work that sometimes you forget that you do have family and friends that care about you and would like some of your time too. I am a huge family person and live for them without a doubt and would never want to get too tied up in work that I don't make time for them.

There is nothing wrong with working hard when it required it. Sometimes your do need to sacrifice your many things in the name of crunching down. However outside life can be inspirational. Doing new things allows for new ideas. Many physicists are also naturalists and enjoy vacationing in nature in order to find new inspirations. Most of the universe is composed of the same processes.

This article does not want a young entrepreneur to be "overly" focused on their company. They should have a balance to think clearly and still have a imagination. Balancing a new company and personal life can be a lot to handle, but you have to remember the experiences in your personal life are the ones that led you to the great position that you are currently in. when one becomes obsessed with one thing he/she will continue to push things aside and loss focus on themselves.

Focusing on your business is great for success. But you should also go out and enjoy life. The best way to become creative for your business is to take a break and step back. External forces can have a great impact on your business. Going out you can find other products that others would like to have and enjoy.

INSTANT MBA: Everyone Needs To Know Where The Company Is Headed
I believe that having everyone on board knowing where the company is headed is an excellent plan. Communication is key in having everyone on board and keeping your employees motivated. Just because I may know what my plans are may not mean that my employees are on track if I have not communicated the plan with them. I also think that if guidelines and deadlines are given, employees perform better. So, reiterating goals and missions should be done at least on a monthly basis in my opinion.

I am guilty of having laser focused vision. I agree with the writer that while it is important to remain focused you must also be able to look outside of the box at times so you can add or subtract something that may or maynot be effective in obtaining your goal. You must not be so focused that you loose sight of the big picuture.
