Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I believe this article is advising every entrepreneur to not be obsessed with the idea of making a business thrive by abandoning all other personal activities because he or she may lose the creativity required to achieve this goal. Although dedication and focus are important elements to succeed in a business venture, keeping a balance with personal life can lead to a desired outcome since people are usually inspired by their loved ones to innovate and come up with better ideas. In summary, it is important to combine a certain level of focus in the business with external activities to improve our ability to innovate.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I think that Tara gives great advice in this article and I hope that I will remember it when I embark on my own business endeavor. I know that after working several days straight, with long hours, my boss will require me to take some time off and get out of the restaurant. He always stresses to our management team that if we stay inside the four walls of our restaurant too long, we will start to overlook the little things, and sometimes even the big things. Whenever someone becomes so focused on finishing a project, it is easy to lose sight of everything else. When I open my own business, I know that at first it will require a lot of hard work and long hours, but I hope I remember to make time for the activities and people in my life who make it all worthwhile. In my opinion the greatest satisfaction of being successful and making money is to also be able to take the time and spend that money on the things and people in your life that make you happy.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I think this article points out a great notion of being too focused can damage your business, relationships, and health. From my personal experience when I become to fixated on a project at work I begin to see a change in my personality and stress level even outside of work. When I step back and realize why I am in such a funk and stressed out is because I would be consumed 24/7 with the project. Once I realized that I adjusted my focus on other things at work as well instead of tunnel vision on this one project. After I readjusted I have been much more pleasant and feel cheerful again.

Alt Link 5: INSTANT MBA: Everyone Needs To Know Where The Company Is Headed
Communicating where your company is heading is good for employee morale. Employees will be less effective if they lose sight of the goal. A good leader will keep their people informed and continually guide them in the right direction.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
At first, the title had me doubting this article, but after reading it, I completely agree. Businesses become too focused on one item and believing that is all they can make money off of. In reality, most inventions and great ideas come around by complete accident. In my opinion, keeping the idea in the back of your mind while enjoying life, friends, and family will help you to expand you knowledge and creativity. For example, at one of my jobs, it became a tradition for any of our workers/friends to meet up at the nearest waffle house at the end of the Friday night shift. Through laughing and talking with one another, we began to create a way to easily communicate with one another. This made it easier for us to fix any problems in the store and since we were all relaxed and having fun, solutions came easier and most of the time, by accident. One day, we decided to change locations. This made our ideas even better. We started talking to workers at each place we visited and picked up ideas and techniques that they used when performing tasks. All in all, creativity does not come from focusing on something specific; creativity comes from being open to new ideas and having fun in the process.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
Experiencing new things is the only way to grow in life and same goes for in business. You must always be looking for ways to expand or innovate your business. If you continue to go one way and only that way, you will fall behind and other businesses will pass you up. However, you must not always be about work. You must have free time with your family and out in the real world experiencing new things and expanding your mind. If you are stuck in an office all the time, you will be stuck in one way because you won't be able to see ways that you can change and possibly make your business better.

This is a relevant article to those of us currently up to our eyeballs pursuing our business goals. I find it critical to get out among my peers and socialize. This socialization helps us remain innovative. For example, my new project is a firearms training course developed solely with inert laser training pistols. I got this idea from hearing other instructors complain about the availability of ammunition and the costs associated with vast amounts of live fire training for little gain. Participating in these conversations drove home the need for a new technology to compliment expensive live fire training for the clients. Had I not been interacting with my peers, I would not have seized on this opportunity and not opened up an entirely new product line with immense potential for profitability.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost This is a great article for the people out there who are always working non-stop to the point where they barely have time for their family and friends. This often pushes our love ones away. I am a hardworking and dedicated person, but I also love spending quality time with my loved ones. So even if it's just one day out the week, I make sure that I devote that time to just family and friends. I feel that this time helps me clear my head from the craziness of work. It's a stress reliever. I personally believe that every hard working person needs a break sometimes. I understand that there are times in our lives where our jobs become our first and only priority, but there's nothing like having your support system cheering you on along the way. Even if it's a simple phone call or a quick lunch, we should all find the time for our family and friends. I find that after a phone conversation with my mom, I feel ten pounds lighter. She helps lift some weight off of my shoulders with her advice. We all need that in our lives.

I totally agree with this article. While it is good to have a strong focus on a goal, too much focus could ultimately steer you in the wrong direction. I’ve learned to set aside time for my family, friends, and personal hobbies in order to temporarily reset my thought process with certain goals. This not only keeps me grounded, it forces me to focus on the most important factors in life. Good article.

INSTANT MBA: Everyone Needs To Know Where The Company Is Headed
I work for a company that does not do this, and it is so frustrating as an employee to have no clear cut idea where the company is headed. I know our slice of the pie is doing financially sound, but we have no idea where the management team is taking our pie. We started out with two companies bda one, and know we have four but no idea what they are going with that. It makes me feel unappreciated and others feel the same way. Communication is the key link from management to employees and vice versa. Employees should feel if they need access to management it should be provided and not a burden. Management needs to know and share with employees the goals of the company so we can all be on the same team to achieve them.

Instant MBA: When you focus too much on your business, creativity may be lost I want to start off by saying that I am all for the idea of staying focused and keeping your eyes on the prize, but only to a certain extent. I agree that owning a business is stressful, but being dedicated to JUST that business is not fair to the people around you nor is it healthy. In most cases, isolation would be an option, but in this particular case it isn’t. Living a normal life is actually a much better way to stay focused. If you go on with your “regularly scheduled program” each day and not overthink the process, then everything will be just fine. As described in the article, creativity generates from experiences and not from being isolated inside all day. I understand that the overseeing a successful business requires full attention, and can get overwhelming at times, but loosing who you are in the process should never be the last result. Taking a step back to analyze the entire situation and the business will absolutely reveal to true issue behind creativity being lost, which will be a reflection of oneself.

Instant MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
I think that it is a good plan to be all about your business and keeping your eye on the prize. A lot of companies have gone up in record numbers in sales and in customer service scores for being passionate about their job. There has to be a fine line between work and pleasure. You can enjoy a meal with some company friends and make partners or whatever the job may entail. Make sure you have time for yourself, along with family and friends before you run yourself into a rut.

INSTANT MBA: When You Focus Too Much On Your Business, Creativity May Be Lost
This article hit home for me! I work for a constantly changing, young retail company that is always coming up with new projects for the managers to do, along with making sales, creating a great working environment, and keeping up with the every day things that come along with running a business. There is always a feeling of stress or lack of motivation when I consume my life with my job. This article talks about having that "laser focus" and I couldn't agree more when it says you need to continue to venture out and not get consumed with your job. I think that entrepreneurs and business owners need to always keep that in mind so they keep themselves fresh when they are at work, but can also relax outside of work!

Focus is good, but she mentions that “laser focus” caused her to lose contact with the outside world. It’s good to have goals and focus on your work, but when you get to a point when work is all you have. Then who do you expect to share your accomplishments with? I agree that you need to experience life and its activities to keep your mind open. Some of the greatest ideas happen when you least expect it and it’s always helpful to be able to run ideas across with your friends/relatives. Several people get so wrapped up on projects that they stop paying attention to the people around them and end up missing out on great opportunities.
