INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
This article was very interesting but made me think. You should always look at the big picture and not focus to hard on one particular thing because the answer that you need might be right in front of you. I suggest that you think outside of the box and you do not have to be lucky to do that just be smart.

Businesses have targets they have to meet. Whether it be daily, monthly or yearly. Many mangers and business owners only focus only on what needs to be met today. Meeting your daily goals is important but it can also make you miss opportunities that are ahead for the company.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Being human being we always try to do what is in front of us. We never take time to look ahead and see the opportunities that may be there also but as a individual stop being so narrowminded and open your mind and it's crazy how one simple thing could be in front of your face and you wouldn't realize it until you open up your mind to it!

Sometimes we get caught up with the daily tasks we have to do and we lose sight of the bigger perspective. We have keep our mind open to other opportunities and be creative. You not only need to look at the daily things we have to accomplish but we have to look at the big picture in order to notice other things that we can do and participate in. You have to focus on a goal but still be open and aware to other goals ahead.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead"
It is important to stay focused on our objectives. What do we want to accomplish today and how can we get there? "Reading between the lines" as Rebecca Hwang says is important to look at the big picture. The 'lucky' group wasnt actually so lucky. They paid attention to their surroundings as they are trying to get to their goal. In business, this example of the two groups looking at pictures isnt so cut in dry but it does get the point across.

The experiment in this article is an excellent example of how you need to be able to look at the whole picture instead of just focusing on one task to complete. There are many ways to get to the final product, and you need to make sure you are keeping an open mind so that you do not miss the right opportunity to achieve your goal. If you stay too focused on what it is you are trying to achieve, instead of looking at the big picture, you may be missing very important things that can help you in the long run.

Instant MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Targets Ahead'
This link talks about staying creative. When running a company you may get comfortable with the daily things, that you lose focus on those things that are not included in those daily things but can help your country. You have to believe that your company will be successful and not thtink that your company is not good enough.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
This is a great reminder, especially for me. It is easy to get caught up in focusing on our current and short term goals because they are right in front of us and we can see them. However, when we are too focused on our goals, we can not always see the big picture. As a result, we may miss out on something else important or a more important goal that we did not focus on. Although it is difficult, it is important to be able to see everything and every goal to be able to be successful.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead' Rebecca offers some good advice that I need to take myself, at times. I'm really a happy go lucky person, who always seems to see the best in people and who has an optimistic attitude about life in general. However, I do tend to become obsessed, at times, with a task at hand-----so much so that it sometimes consumes me. I think if I tried more often to see the "big picture" even though I'm focusing on the little picture, I would be a lot less stressed at times. This article made me do some self reflection so it was definitely beneficial.

Focusing on daily targets too much actually really can lead you to looking past opportunities. I would not label it as a matter of being lucky or unlucky, but rather who is more bound and determined to succeed. However Hwang describes it as looking at not only the small picture, but to see the big picture instead. If you believe that you will succeed then you will better your chances in the long run.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Focusing on the big picture is important in business. However, focusing on it too much may be a problem. If you only focus too much time on the main objective you may miss out on the smaller details that could help you. For instance, if you need to get a process of paperwork done, you may be focusing on making/completing work that may have already been done. Those papers may have been created before and could be slightly altered for your task. It is important to get your work done and achieve your main goal, but save yourself time when you can. After all, when it comes to the business world, time is money.

Rebeca Hwang makes a great point in this article about being lucky and unlucky. I think you can make your own luck and sometimes it might be good or bad. This article shows you to look at the big picture and not to focus in on one detail. Hwang says lucky people constantly stimulate the brain. So next time you are thinking about solving a problem or trying to figure out something remember to look a the whole picture.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities.'
Sometimes we need to see the big picture. We need to take in what is going on around us, but at the same time still getting the task at hand done. It is important to know what needs to be done, but by only focusing on the exact task, we miss out on things right in front of us. Life will be full of tasks that need to be done. As we continue to get the task done, it is important to try to learn as much as possible along the way. To do this, we cannot think to narrow. We have to look beyond what needs to be done to learn new things in life. Individuals who think positive and believe they are lucky are usually the ones that get lucky.

Instant MBA: ‘By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead’ People always focus solely on what is expected of them. They shouldn’t keep their blinders on and try to look outside the box. Find a new way of doing things, mix it up a bit and sometimes people will find the unexpected. Managers do have to look at the bigger picture but they can’t forget about the detail things. Those detailed things is what helps the bigger things fall into place.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
This article is has an interesting perspective to it and will be useful in the future. I truly believe that if you think you are an unlucky person and nothing good ever comes your way, than you will find this true. On the contrary, if you see yourself as a lucky person who is constantly in the presence of new opportunities, than this is more likely to happen. Having a positive outlook is everything. If you go into business expecting to fail, then you are immediatley decreasing your chances of recognizing new opportunities and ideas. The key to success is having the ability to focus on your target without narrowing in too deep, while allowing yourself to still see beyond that target.
