INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
I know that it is very easy to lose sight and miss opportunities when you are so far deep in the every day grind. Sometimes, when facing a difficult problem it is best to step back and remove yourself form the situation. Often times when you do this, the solution will present itself. The other day I decided I was having a lucky day, because one good thing happened to me. So for the rest of the day I had decided that it was my lucky day, and numerous other good things happened to me. At the end of the day I realized that it was not that I was lucky, but that the first batch of luck I encountered that morning had put me in a positive mood for the rest of the day, allowing for me to create my own luck.

Good article. This should be a wake-up call to people to be optimistic! Life isn’t always as bad as what it seems and some people definitely shouldn’t take them selves so seriously. I would have liked to been in the room where the “luck” group beat the “unlucky” group. You are what you eat, people. If you consume negativity, you give off negativity. Keep your chins up and relax every once in a while.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
This is how i feel in my everyday life. Take risks, take chances, believe that they will turn out right, and they often will. It may not be 100% of the time, but it will be a lot, and that is all it takes to be successful. Don't worry about whether or not this could work, or that may be the right way, take a good educated guess, and go with it.

INSTANT MBA: Company Chemistry Begins With Clockwork Communication
One of the greatest success tools a company can have is consistent open lines of communication. If employees know that they will have a regular opportunuity to voice their opinions and that it will also actually matter, they are going to be more willing to work hard and keep drama at a minimum. Bad things usually creep into the workplace when people feel unimportant or not needed, so having that constant discussion reminding them they are important and their opinions are valued will only make your company that much better.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Being too focused on one thing could make a person miss the bigger picture. This probably happens a lot in business. Business people probably miss opportunities everyday from being too focused on what's in front of them instead of everything around them. It's important if you want to be successful to always think outside of the box and be vigilant. Sometimes the simplest answers are right in front of our faces, but we miss them because our attention is focused elsewhere.

Many times people only focus on the task that they have to complete. They do not look at the big picture or complete task, just the smaller pieces. When they do this they can miss little details or pieces that are not working. A leader should focus on the big picture and have a team that not only looks at the big picture but can complete the smaller task with accuracy.Luck is always on your side if you wish for it to be. By staying open minded and happy, work becomes more of a job than just a day-to-day task. If I go into work in a bad mood, everything that can go wrong, normally does. Especially if its something that hasn't happened before.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Many people look at the small picture and forget to look at the big picture. What happens today may or may not affect you in the future. Many businesses fail to look at the big picture and get caught up in what is happening now. Yes, what we do today is important, but if we make a mistake it is okay. If you make a mistake just fix it and move on so you can be successful in the long run.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Although being detail-oriented can be a good trait to possess at times, taking a step back and looking at the big picture can get you far in business and in life. The article discusses a study in which people who considered themselves lucky, ended up being luckier in the long run than those who didn't, and that luck came from looking at the big picture, rather than focusing too hard on the task at hand. This is good advice that everyone needs to rememeber to do every now and then.

INSTANT MBA: "By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Being in a business can be very overwhelming just as life can be, and it is important to keep yourself on track by using small goals everyday. However, it is also crucial that you don't loose sight of the bigger picture, if you focus too much on the daily tasks or one goal for the day, you can miss a huge opportunity in an different area. You must be able to have a small balance of your everyday goals but also constantly keeping in mind the bigger picture.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
It's easy to get caught up in monotonous every day tasks. I can see how it would be easy to get distracted and not see the big picture of things. It is important to ensure that the little things are flowing correctly and you are accomplishing short term goals but it's important to continue to look at your business in the grand scheme of things, to avoid missing out on opportunities.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
When focusing on the main task it is easy to miss things. People often use all their attention on certain things and miss key aspects to other important issues. While at work you should be well aware of all aspects going on you should never focus all your energy on one aspect of business. Business is undetectable and changes happen daily and its up to managers to catch these changes and address them.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
What I see every day at work, is that people are definitely short-sighted, as well as unlucky overall. Also, people tend to not care about their work quality, as long as they get paid. Maybe they get this train of thought from the idea that they don’t have an opportunity to prosper in the current position they are in. Short-sighted people, in my office and department, tend to finish fewer duties on time, are less efficient, and tend to take more time off “being sick”. Employers around the world are tasked to change this train of thought, so that business as a whole will have the chance to be more efficient, and that morale within offices will increase.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
This article takes an interesting stance on luck and how it relates to being productive. People who are "lucky" are typically just more confident not given a better shot at success by chance of the universe. Confidence in work makes you a stronger more productive worker that can read between the lines. Lacking confidence is a hindrance that causes you to overwork and focus on possible mistakes.

I honestly don't know what to make of this article. There is no such thing as luck in business. Sure, there are some random events that may or may not work out in your favor, but you should never be working toward "being lucky". make your own luck through hard work and proper preparation. Contingency planning is part of the strategic management process and needs to be a constant thing in your business if you are to be successful.

INSTANT MBA: 'By Focusing Too Narrowly On Daily Targets, We Miss Opportunities Ahead'
Sometimes if focus to narrowly one one thing we miss great events that could have been. Don't have tunnel vision when your eye is one prize. A leader should focus on the big picture and have a team that not only looks at the big picture but can complete the smaller task with ease. The article really drove home to me that the luckiest people are constantly stimulating the brain with a certain level of randomness through conversations and insights. They are able to focus on a target without shutting down their ability to see beyond that target.
