It is very important to be on the web in a business sense. Almost every business uses social media and other internet websites to promote their business and in order to not fall behind, a company should make a name for themselves on these sites. As a consumer, I find it so much easier to hear about things from social media and also find out information about a business. It's a way to provide details to the public about the business and even helps create a positive/negative brand image in consumers minds.

Using the social medias really is a great way to scout applicants. I may not be a fan of social media, but it has become a "norm" of today's society. Businesses can take great advantage with marketing on these media sites, just as long as they don't start spamming people. I've used a social media cite before to find a job. Granted it was craigslist, but I was still able to find a job. I'm actually still employed by the same company. The issue though with sites like craigslist, is you can get applicants that aren't really what you're looking for. Four people were hired at the same time I was because they saw that add too. None of them lasted two months. So using the web can be good and bad thing when looking for employees.

I totally agree with Dan Schawbel because in this day and age, people would want to work in a environment where they like what their doing or working on. Dan also says,they then need to maintain a strong Web identity so that both active and passive job seekers can find out more information about their company.
