Instant MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
I believe that the saying “failure to plan is planning to fail” speaks volumes. It is cheaper and less time-consuming to spend time on the front end, planning for possible errors and ways to correct the,. and reap the profits, rather than spend time cleaning up the mistakes as you go. In my job, I am often frustrated by the work one must put in to correct the mistakes of others who either didn’t care about or didn’t understand the task assigned to him/her. Personally I prefer to ensure I know what is expected and compile a plan on how I will attack a project before I start a new project.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
The aspect this article takes on the time it takes to get a good to market is very interesting. I believe that the article is correct in stating that it takes time to create a good that will sell. Time is valuable, but it is important to take the time necessary to create a great product. By waiting to perfect a product before it hits the market, success will be easier to obtain.

This link of the day directly contradicts the previous link in that working all the time is a good thing / bad thing. I think that is an important dichotomy that we as managers have to realize when we should be living at work and when we should be taking time off to recharge our batteries and get a fresh point of view. Both are important and it is a difficult thing to learn when each is appropriate.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
Just like a good chef has to experiment time and time again until he finds the right recipe the same can be true for your company. Take your time to come up with the mission and ingredients. When you don't rush into something, you are less likely to launch a premature business ridden with flaws. Think of your business like good food. This is however easier said that done when you have to apply it.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
Yes when you first open your business you want to try and have a perfect business, but people know that when a business or something first open it will never be perfect. It will have it's problems and it's advantages but it up to the leaders of the group to learn from it and grow and do better and watch it become into perfection.

I think that it is hard to succeed when putting a product on the market the first time. You need to try and try again and make sure your product is close to perfect when you put it out on the market. This product is almost like a child. You can just put your child out in the world on their own when their five years old! You have to teach your child all they need to know throughout their whole life so that by the time they move out, they will be ready. The same is with a product. In order to succeed, you have to put all you can into it and try new things. Then when you know you’re product it ready, you can put it out there.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
To be great, you must be willing to wait and experiment. Hamdi Ulukaya, the founder and CEO of Chobani Yogurt, sacrificed his family because he believed that is what he needed to do to create a successful product. Ulukaya states that "when you dont rush into something, you are less likely to launch a premature business ridden with flaws". This is the reason it took him 18 months to come up with this recipe. Competition is everywhere; especially when you are trying to break into a market with Yoplait, who dominates the yogurt industry. Your product from the start needs to be flawless.

Instant MBA: A Recipe For Success Is A Lot Of Experimentation
Sometimes when making something new a lot of time has to be put into it. In this link he talks about sacrifice. He says that he spent most of his time in a plant and sacrificed his family life working on the product. I think family is most important and you should try to make time for them as much as possible. If you think that your product is going to be lucrative and you want to spend time with family then you should try to incorporate them in your plans

I can totally agree with Ulukaya's plan on putting a lot of experimentation when developing products and services. You will most likely not have the correct product developed initially, so its going to be a lot of trial and error in the beginning. There are always going to be sacrifices that have to be made along the way. In order to get something you have to give so its going to be a process. It is a process just like they describe in the article, you do not rush into it and treat it like food. Preparation and experimenting is key.

Hamdi Ulukaya was very dedicated in his creation of yogurt recipe and spend many hours trying to make it perfect. His best advice is to take your time to come up with the mission and the ingredients. I think you can use this advice in many situation in life. Take your time when starting your business and do the research in similar markets. Be your own critic and come up with a mission that fits your culture and business life.

There is so much that goes into producing a final product that must be considered. It's never just a one step process; it is way more difficult. It is important to experiment to make sure that the product or service being offered is truly unique. It has to be the best of its kind or it just wont sell. Experimentation is the way to get to the final product through trial and error and to make sure the best product is being offered.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
I think that there are many things that can make a business successful and I think that it is different for every business. It is very important to be able to figure out what your business needs and what will make it perfect. Sometimes this does not just come to you. There will always have to be a little trial and error. I think that it is important for people to realize that. Not everything you do will work. You just have to keep trying until you get it right.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe For Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
Again, the author hits home with me on this one. As a new teacher, I certainly am doing a LOT of experimentation in an attempt to "get it right." There are days that I leave the classroom and think, "Wow! What a great day!" Then, there are others that I just hang my head and think, "I'll NEVER get this!" Coming from a family of teachers, though, I know from the pep talks that it takes a LOT of experimentation and patience to "get it right" and even then, you'll NEVER have it perfect. Each new year brings new students with new personalities and new parents.........as well as a new curriculum more often than not. So, in this profession, I've had to except the fact that I'll be doing a lot of experimentation for many years to come.

INSTANT MBA: The Recipe for Success Requires A Lot Of Experimentation
Perfecting your product/service will not only take a lot of time and effort, but experimentation as well. Experimenting to perfect your product is a crucial factor in the company's success. If you sell a product that customers don't like, they won't buy it. So spending the extra time perfecting your product before starting a business will pay off in the long run rather than starting the company and selling a bad product. In that case you would have to spend money to start the company and sell the bad product, and then you would have to spend more money to fix the product. If you get the product right the first time, it would save you a lot of time and money. Making sacrifices to better your company is important in the beginning stages of a company.

Hamdi Ulukaya says, "I wanted to make sure the product was perfect because I only had one shot and it had to work. We came from the angle that this is a boring category that we will change." He also said, take your time to come up with the mission and ingredients. Understand what you are doing before your launch your business or product. Research a lot.
