INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
I really like the approach that this article takes on firing yourself from positions that you don't see yourself excelling in. If you are not doing well in a position or a certain aspect of decision making, let someone else take the lead. It is hard to swallow your pride, but it is an important part of success.

Proper delegation is key to good leadership and management. A leader delegates tasks because he doesnt have time to do everything, and other people can be trusted to do the jobs that arent as critical or strategic. When a manager finds himself doing jobs that aren't specifically managing, he needs to ask himself if his time is best spent on that task, and if he's really the best person to do it.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
I really like this article. Sometimes we have to let go and learn to trust when someone else can do a better job. Do not let your ego get in the way of making the business or project better. I can see how some business owners are unwilling to give up control, spending a lot of time in his business, rather than on it.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
This article offers a clever way of looking at delegation. If there is someone beneath you that is compentent at doing one or more of your tasks "fire" yourself from the task by delegating it to someone else. It is important that you don't overload yourself with tasks that you could have someone else complete. If you delegate these tasks out, then you are helping to build the skills of your employees and you are freeing up you time so you can focus on more important tasks.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
I feel if you run a great business and interview somebody that has the qualities do something way better than you, in some cases my be better for the job because that's one less requirement the manager can count on his employee to get it done while the manager may overlook the business so it can continually grow. A great manager must know when he or she may can step down to watch a masterpiece come in hand.

I agree with this article that as a business owner, you need to focus on the growth of your company while giving your employees certain daily tasks. You should hire employees to do work that can enable you to keep your focus on your goal. It’s hard as a business owner because you want to try and accomplish so much, but if you know that someone else can perform certain tasks for you better than you can and allow you to focus on your goals as a business leader, you need to fire yourself and hire an employee to carry out that task instead because it will help you and help them.

I like this article. You can't think of your self at the best at what you are doing. Successful managers are ones that are able to admit there own mistakes. If you find that someone is better at doing something that what you are, let them do it, instead of you. You want your business to be successful.

No everyone can physically allow themselves to "quit a task". On the other hand, a person needs to know their limits. One person surely cannot do everything. When one person becomes overwhelmed with numerous tasks, some things get left behind. Sometimes it is important to recognize when this is happening and as the article says, fire yourself if you are standing in the way of your company's growth. Top executives should be involved in strategic planning and decision. It is important to feel confidence in your staff enough to allow a specific person to do a specific task. Do not expect yourself to do it all because something (probably important) will end up on the back burner and end up being forgotten.

This link talks about being able to let go of a certain task when you are a manager. If someone is better at doing something than you in your workplace, then you should let them do the job. A manager should focus on the growth of the organization not every task that could be done by better people. If everyone stay in their field of expertise in a business then it will prosper.

Holtzclaw definitely has a unique approach to handling the business. Instead of you personally trying to handle a task in the business you should assign someone else who is more capable than yourself. It is a more reasonable plan to have them do it instead of the boss because they won't be as objective. That is the point of having a team anyways, to have people help you complete your objectives to make sure the business grows.

Eric gives great advice in this article basically saying find someone who can do the everyday repetitive task and you yourself stay focused on growing the company. I think he makes a good point and more companies should probably take his advice. Being involved is great but when you get stuck in the repetitive task you lose focus on growth and innovation.

As someone personally invested in a project or business; it is really hard to give up the responsibility that your have. You really have to look at the big picture and be able to discern whether or not there is an individual that would be able to carryout certain tasks better than you would be able to. As the forerunner of the business or project it will be hard, but it is a necessary step in the process. It is your job to make sure that everything is the best that it can be. This meaning the overall product, and sometimes it is important to release some control in order to let someone who will be able to produce better results for the final product.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
I think that this could be true for many managers and business owners. Sometimes a person's pride can get in the way of thing and can prevent them from seeing the real picture. Some managers feel that they are the only ones that can do something correctly, when in fact they are not. Sometimes there is someone else that would be better at the job, however our pride is getting in the way of us realizing that. I think one of the most important things for a manager to be able to do is delegate. Managers should be able to delegate task to others so that people are working at their proper skill level and so that things can run smoothly.

Eric seems to have realized that he was a micromanager at one point. Thank goodness he realized it! No one likes to be micromanaged and, in my experience, those types of managers are usually the ones who eventually lose some of their best employees. Managers need to delegate tasks to their employees and then entrust those workers with the job of completing the tasks to the best of their abilities. I learned in my time as a manager that more often than not, your employees won't let you down if you show them that you respect their judgement and that you trust them to do their best work for you and the company. Micromanagers, on the other hand, bring out the worst in employees by treating them as if they were children who need to be told what to do at every turn. Even in my career as a new teacher, we are encouraged to teach the students to be able to "run the classroom" by allowing them to take ownership in their lessons and daily routines. Hopefully, I'm doing just that and not trying to micromanage my classroom.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
Although most people don't like to give up some of their control, I think it is important for a manager to do what is best for the company. If someone else could do the job better, or has more time to commit to that job, then I think from the company's stand point, the manager should give those duties to the other person. It is hard for a manager to step back and realize that someone else could do that job better and to admit that it needs to be done. Also, some managers want to do things themselves because they think they can do it better than anyone else can or they want it to get done the way they want to do it. Whatever the case may be, I think it is important for managers to do what is best for the company rather than themselves.
