INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
Quitting a job is not something that everyone would do without getting something in return, and if the position involves important benefits and perks, it is even less likely that someone would give it up. I understand the point of this article; however, I don't think that many of the managers out there are selfless enough to recognize someone might be better for that job. Consequently, a higher manager would have the challenge to find out which employees need to be replaced in order to run the company more efficiently. Nowadays, the labor market is tough, and people will not let go of their jobs that easy. On the contrary, they might just find ways to better themselves by going back to school and learning new skills that would make them more competitive.

I think that this article made a valuable point that could help many business grow and develop. As a leader you should have a team of employees that can run the daily business and you should focus on the growth and development of the company as a whole. It is the leaders job to ensure that there is a team of employees that are effective in their job duties so that their focus can be on the growth of the company. When these things are in place, the company should run smoothly and hopefully grow and develop.

Instant MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You Being able to do everything for your business is impossible, eventually you’ll need some help. An important part of being a leader is understanding that you won’t be able to do everything, solely because certain areas require more attention. I don’t look at it as firing yourself; I simply think that you are making a strategic decision that will help benefit the business in the long-run. Being in control of everything tends to get over whelming and impossible to handle alone, sometimes the best thing to do is to portion out the work amongst responsible, knowledgeable , and trustworthy individuals. That doesn’t make you a bad leader, it makes you responsible leader who cares about the well-being of the business.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
It is very important to realize when you are actually getting in the way by being too involved. When you are running an organization and you have others on that team who are better at a job than you are, you need to realize this and let them lead the team in these areas. I have found this to be one of my weaknesses in leading teams in my current role. I want to maintain control and make sure all tasks are being completed. This can actually lead to me getting in the way of progress and will cause others to disengage and become less effective team members. It is important to recognize what others have to contribute and allow them to contribute. When you give individuals this opportunity, they will grow and bring the team along with them in this growth.

I agree with this article in that you should not tackle situations that you are not best to handle. I would not do certain things that I had no idea what I was doing. Or I would know how to do it, but I know someone who was better equipped to handle the situation. Sometimes when a customer asks for a manager you have to just give in. You can't just say "I am the manager", You would be fired. Obviously in certain departments, I don't know what I am doing, and therefore I hand it off to someone better equipped. If I were a manager, I would need to be cross trained. But I am just a minor associate and I would rather find someone already trained in the department.

INSTANT MBA: Make Your Clients Feel Special For Choosing You
Customer service is a dying breed in today's world. A quality that needs to be present in any service industry. Excellent customer service is what draws customers back to a business along with word of mouth. Having a average experience at a store, may not get return business, but excellent service will. Also, keeping the customers involved with the special notices by email, birthday cards or discounts are simple ways to promote business with little effort but worthy returns. People want to feel important and valuable to stores and by these simple actions, can accomplish this task.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
As a business owner you should know that you won't be able to do certain things alone or even at all. If there is an employee who could take on a certain task for you and do a much better job, why not give the responsibility of that task to that employee? That way you will be able to focus on something more important, like the growth of your company. Running a business is not an easy task, especially if you are also responsible for doing things that most employees would be responsible for. I understand that many business owners today aren't willing to give up control of some task to employees, but if they were to do so I'm pretty sure they would have more time to improve their company as a whole. This article would be a great read for all business owners.

Pride can be an owners worst enemy. If an owner thinks that he can do everything better and more efficient, then his/her business will more than likely crash. As an owner you have to be able to delegate jobs to other people that could potentially do a better job, because it would be their only job, not an owner running around trying to do ten different jobs at once. As an owner your responsibility is the overall running of the company. You have to be able to trust people to do their jobs.

As a manager, having others do the "dirty" work is the best way to manage your store. They are going to be more efficient because it is all they are concentrating all. This will, in turn, free you to look at the big picture and find ways to be more productive and expand your business. Having others do your work is not bad as long as you are only delegating those jobs that can be done better by others.

As a business leader it is important to know when the job you are doing is not matching up with your ability to do it. If you can not do the job don't be stubborn and stay in that place trying to prove a point because it can only hurt your job and make it less efficient. Give it to someone that you know can do it better and then you work on something they will help the job succeed and you know you can do. Every position is not for everybody, know your skills.

It is very important to build a team around you that is more than capable and willing to go the extra effort for the business. The business owner must trust those people and relinquish the control to focus on planning for the future.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You
My General Manager should read this article, because he has a real problem with not giving over control. He focuses too heavily on the little things involved in the day to day operations, rather than doing things he should be doing as GM, such as marketing. If he could just release control of the little things and run less shifts, then he could be out there in the community promoting the business. Even his boss has noticed this and urged him to relinquish some control and stop focusing on such simple tasks that could easily be completed by others. Whenever I become the owner of a business I will focus on the big picture of the business opposed to mundane, simple tasks that I can put others in charge of.

Ii like this article. There are a lot of managers that have a problem with letting go of some of their control and giving it to someone else. Some don't understand that delegating to other people will actually help the company and free up time for the manager to focus on other issues. I've worked for a manager that didn't trust his employees to do some of the tasks and it resulted in some workers just standing around a bunch of the time with nothing to do. It eventually got better and he started delegating tasks and it led to a much better work environment.

INSTANT MBA: Fire Yourself If Someone Else Can Do It Better Than You I like this article because many managers or leaders want to do things themselves instead of letting someone else take control over something. I guess I can understand why they would be this way since they have worked hard to obtain the position and authority that they currently hold but this doesn't mean someone can't do a better job with certain objectives. If leaders or managers really care about the growth of the business then they would step aside and let someone who is better than them at certain task take control of those tasks. Nobody does everything the best so when you can find someone who has an edge in a certain area, you should allow them to take control of it.
