INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Employees should never feel scared in their work environment. Managers or supervisors should let the employees do their expected jobs and compliment or reprimand an employee when needed. However, they should not make the employee feel scared if it is not done correctly every time. Employees should be able to come to work and get their job done to the best of their ability without having the thought in the back of their mind that their managers are watching their every move and ready to tell them every little thing they did wrong. If workers only hear from their supervisors when they do things incorrectly, then they will think that is all you notice. The employee will be scared and less willing to work and get their jobs done.

Instant MBA: People Don’t Work Well When They’re Sacred When people are nervous, they tend to not work well under that sort of pressure. Businesses need employees who aren’t afraid and don’t get nervous. They need to be able to handle things in bad situations. Sometimes when people work in groups they feel more comfortable and can deal with situations better. Fear doesn’t work well in the workplace because nothing will get accomplished.

Any employee needs to feel comfortable in their job. They should not feel afraid of losing their job if they voice their opinion. Many times employees do not get the respect from their peers or their upper management when the voice an opinion. Any company should constantly work on its corporate culture to insure its employees continue to work together for the same goal. By doing so, relationships build trust throughout the entire company from lower management up to the CEO.

When someone is working in fear, they focus on every single detail and worry about doing everything correctly. This can cause someone to not work well because they do not have a clear mind. Working for a company that you feel fear everyday to perform the task, may be a sign that you need to try searching for a different job. It's unhealthy to feel that way at work.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Personally, I cannot do well when i am fearful. I cannot think right, and just like me, many people do perform when they are fearful. As a manager you need to create an environment in your organization where people feel comfortable and secure.Even if it means working as a team, people contribute more when they are relax and can think right. Environment plays a very important role in employees performance and how the customer or the clients perceive the company which all affect the company bottom line.

Shellye Archambeau says, "I don’t think people perform well when there’s fear. Maybe people aren’t physically afraid, but they feel fear ...You just can’t be as successful in that kind of environment." I 100% agree with Shellye because its true. When people are scared and afraid, they don't perform well. this can hurt your company or business.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
It's true people do not work well when they are frightened. When one is scared they are thinking of other things instead of working. When people are scared their productivity goes down and is not good for the company . It is good to show your employees it's okay to be scared at times when necessary but don't worry about it. One can learn that people who are scared of the job might not be the right one to be working at that specific company.

"People don't work well when they're scared"
Being scared while working will cause inefficiency and ineffectiveness. People will tend to make more mistakes. It's very true what the article says about getting the job. We tend to have to jump through a lot of hoops just for an interview, then jump a few more times for either a promotion or raise. That just not a good working environment. "Despite their individual job descriptions, they all know that if an issue comes up, everyone needs to get involved." This statement is very true. Communication is key to any business if they want to be successful.

Having a work environment where employees feel safe and free to share ideas and thoughts is one that everyone will be happy and willing to work in. In a work environment that everyone is fearful to speak up or take risks and know they must jump through a million hoops to be successful is going to be an unmotivated, unwilling group of employees. Having employees that are motivated and excited about working is what makes a workforce successful and constantly climbing towards success. Unhappy employees that are scared to branch out will stay under the radar and the workforce will stay at a plateau, doing what they know they can get by with unnoticed.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared.
Fear is the worse way to try to get someone to do what you want of them. Employees will not work at their best when they fear what is taking place. It is always important to have employee’s understand what is expected of them, but this doesn't need to be done through fear. Communication is the key to all of this. When employers communicate well with their employee's, they understand what is it they need to get done. I agree 100% with the article that it is important to have a team of employee's that understand how important team work is. When there is an issue, everyone needs to work together to get it taken care of. When employees understand that, there is nothing a business can't get through.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Fearful working environments and poor working environments, plain and simple. Employees under constant pressure and fear of being reprimanded is a complete detriment to production. Employees tend to make more mistakes and are more critical under these circumstances. Leaders need to have a healthy balance of consequence for mistakes and recognition of success for their employees.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
In the corporate environment it is crucial that every employee feels their job position is just as important as the next. When the social ladder comes into play, lower employees are overlooked or mistreated. Even though CEO's and top managers make higher salary than bookkeepers and secretaries, everyone should be treated with the same amount of respect. Managers should allow employees to go about their jobs without being second guessed or fearful of their authority. When employees don't have the satisfaction on job security, they are less likely to perform to their full ability. To avoid tension and fear in the workplace, managers should make clear what each employees job objectives are and give them the trust and faith they need to execute their tasks. Employees should not feel as though they are in competition with other team members to prove themselves worthy of a job. When employees are encouraged and feel empowered, they will perform better than ever.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
I am curious to know exactly what kind of fear Shelley is talking about. Whether it is the fear of performing poorly and not doing the work right or the fear of high expectations. Which ever it is I think she is right by saying the best environments are when you allow people to perform their best. Not everyone can work as hard as each other and people grow at different pastes. So this would be a good environment as long as there are set expectations. This gives people responsibility without feeling like everyone has to perform equally.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
When you are scared you will not perform as well, because you are thinking about the consequences if something goes wrong. Managers should try to create a positive environment at work. Nobody wants to work when employees are scared of their managers or coworkers. Mangers also need to build communication and improve their relationship with employees. When the company offers a good environment with a great work culture, employees will be more satisfied and more productive, so it is important to maintain this.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Creating fear for your employees hinders their ability to perform to their full potential. Leaders who create a work environment that spawns fear in their employees are creating a work environment that is set up for limited success. Companies who realize this, encourage all employees to helps others when a problem arises. This method of handling problems, reduces fear and makes employees more willing to work hard even if they might make mistakes.
