INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
The most committed employees are those who work in a safe environment. Also, workers who show the best performance are motivated mainly by the leadership style and culture of the organization. I believe nobody likes to work in a place where fear is part of the every day activities. Those employees who work in such environments end up performing poorly and leaving the company. This article states that every team member should be encouraged to get involved, and I think this is an example of appreciation for workers. In summary, organizations need to offer the best working environment to keep their employees motivated and productive.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
I agree with the message in this article. I believe that when individuals are in fear of work situations, they will be less productive and less creative. When the workplace is full of fear, this will lead to a lot of gossip and rumors within the work place. This will be a drain on people and will lead to a very negative work place. This will often lead to individuals seeking employment elsewhere as well. With all of this said, it is very important for individuals not to feel scared in their work place. This will help lead to higher productivity and more creativity, which will help foster success.

Creating a positive and open work place is one of the most important things you can do for your business. When you create this kind of atmosphere, your employees will be more dedicated and work harder. There will also be less turn over of employees when this kind of work place is created. It is hard for someone to work well in a hostile environment and when they are scared. That kind of hostile environment can lead to higher turnover, less job productivity, and less team work and collaboration among employees.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
As a good manager it is your responsibility to make sure that your employees work in a safe environment physically, emotionally, and mentally. I definitely agree that people do not work well when they're scared. Have you ever watched a scary movie where the actor/actress just could not get their door unlock because they were scared?? Scared employees are less productive than employees who feel safe. Making sure that your employees feel comfortable enough to remain productive is very important. Having a safe work environment is part of having a strong company culture. When you have a strong company culture and a safe work environment, if a problem arises employees will work together to solve the problem without the pressure of fear.

Instant MBA: People Don’t Work Well When They’re Scared This article is pretty much common sense; people working in fear will not perform well. I think employers set the wrong tone when they require employees to go through unnecessary motions after the hiring process. These type of actions place fear into employees, they feel as though if something isn’t done right or the way the boss wants it done, then they lose their job. Employers seem to think that instilling fear in employees will make the business prosper, but they are absolutely wrong. Instilling fear causes unspoken friction between the employer and employees, and causes the employee performance level to be consistently low. Having a strong company culture versus a fearful one will make the business sky rocket, because everyone is working together and on the same page mentally, physically, and emotionally.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
I completely agree with the article. I think that when the employee feels safe and secure at work, they will be able to give out the best in themselves. Having scared employees will have a bad impact on the business as a whole. I know a few managers that think they are above everyone and scare them into doing what they want. Power abusers who use their power as managers to shove the others around to do what they want them to do. I believe that if a person is fully on board and not afraid of their boss, they will definitely enjoy their job and will get a lot done.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Focus On Your Weaknesses I completely agree with this article. Always focus on your strengths, this is what will sell you to a employer. It's good to know your weaknesses but don't focus on them while interviewing for a new job. Some weaknesses can be viewed as a strength depending on the weakness. Use your strengths to sell yourself to the company, keep a positive outlook and be honest. Honesty is the best policy.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Fear is what drives people, but it isn't what motivates them from day to day. My boss is currently installing 12 more cameras than we already have. The catch is that these also have audio. Fear is what he has installed into each one of his minimum wage workers. Each one is already starting to look for a new job. There is a point when fear goes overboard, and I, personally, believe he has reached that level.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Fear can make a person shut down. It might get them to work faster but it will most likely be sloppy and not done right. Fear can scare people into doing things they don't wanna do, and if your not motivated to do something in a positive way, you won't put forth your best effort. I believe an employee should not fear an employer, but respect him/her until that respect is jeopardized.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Fear doesn't mix well in the work place. There's different times that it can happen; people will get scared to give a presentation, fear of not performing a job correctly and fear of disappointing the managers. Fear can drive us to do better but it can also get the best of people. Not everybody can overcome or get better from the fear that can happen from getting a new job.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
People do not work better when they are scared because they begin to evaluate everything that they do and maybe over do somethings. I believe fear can make one do their job less efficiently. For example, at my job we get mystery shoppers every month and it is certain way that they want us to do things when it comes down to taking care of customers if we miss one thing they threaten our job when it is even something very small. Now instead of being focused on customer service we become more focused on other minor things and miss out on really connecting with the customer because I am to scared to mess up. I agree that there should be rules but they should not be unattainable with your job attached to it.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
Upper management through lower management must create a working environment that the employees feel secure and happy to generate the most success. They have to create a space where the employee is allow to voice their opinions, concerns, new ideas without the fear of being reprehended or laughed at. This starts with the mission statement and policies of the company to set the tone of this communication.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared
I agree with the article that a constant state of fear does not allow people to work to their full potential. At Raising Canes, we are not constantly worried about losing our jobs, so we are able to work our best with out feeling stressed. I have worked at other businesses, where people were fired with little or no reason at all, and it was completely different. Everyone walked around as if they were on egg shells, constantly fearing they would lose their job. This caused no one to ever take chances or go above and beyond. Instead they just did enough to fly under the radar. Whenever I open my own business I will encourage everyone to do their best, but will make sure they are not afraid. I will not fire someone without just cause.

INSTANT MBA: People Don't Work Well When They're Scared I agree with the fact that the company and upper managers should make a comfortable working environment for it's employees. If employees are scared or don't feel safe at work, then there is no possible way of getting the maximum production out of them because they would always be looking over their shoulders. Its important that upper level managers talk to their employees about what's going on because it could be as simple as an employee is scared of another employee. Employees could be scared about their working environment but also of the managers which is why it's important to have meeting with employees to build some type of relationship with each of them.
